This wouldn't be terrible if you did it right. You would have to get some pretty awesome interviews in order to make it work though...

What is your definition of "the scene?" What is it? Is it an actual scene? For what? What media does it involve? What's the aesthetic properties? What is it saying?

You can't make a documentary on something that isn't, well, something. So, what is "the scene?" I don't understand what it's a signifier for. There has to be an operating definition. Can you make a documentary on an aesthetic?

i'd imagine the documentary would be on the tentative experimental side, and as information is documented in an unguided fashion, the operative is to define as you go. you'd probably start out using anything that could possibly be referred to as part of "the scene" and follow leads/make connections/backtrack to the origins to get a more composite picture of what the "scene" really is from there.

It's very fortuitous then that my sister (16, but in the same range) who loves Paramore and shops at Hot Topic regularly is staying at my apartment to visit on holiday. She says "I don't know. I just like Paramore."

I know this is a joke, but this is seriously the best place to go for this kind of information.

Or just go to a few warped tour dates/bamboozle and ask a bunch of people there, preferably of varying ages if you want to see the way opinions about music can contrast. Also try and scope out some band members, managers, merch guys, etc.

dude are you kidding me?!?!?! Bastards of Young is by far the best "scene dvd" od the last few years. no dvds even feature bands like this. and if they do please point me towards them

If u were actually gonna do it and do it right, and when u say scene u mean like the emo/pop punk/Hardcore scene that started in the early 2000s I'd expect interviews with these bands:

Brand New
Taking Back Sunday
