Oh nice. That makes sense. Congratulations, I suppose; doing that on an independent is ridiculous.

Ugh.. only a couple more days until I can go buy TEN, The Format, and Sufjan.

But really, good for The Format and hopefully TEN can get some more sales.

look how much TEN has fallen already. what a shame.

Most of the bands talked about on this site will have big first weeks and then fall steadily down to a level around 500-2k for the week. Falling from 25k to 9k in the second week really isn't that bad.

miltownrob
07/26/06, 10:44 AM
i am kind of surprised by the AVA numbers

Branevember31
07/26/06, 10:45 AM
yeah TEN fell, but "For All Of This", " The Acoustic EP" and "The Rooms Too Cold" sold a combined 300,000 so i guess theyre doing pretty good in 2 weeks compared to that .

I really like that AAR have sold 1.2 million. Such a solid little pop album from last year.

Taking Back Sunday - Where You Want to Be: 1,335 (720,583)

...Is that because of TBS going (somewhat) mainstream?? ah-ha

The Early November - The Mother, the Mechanic & The Path: 8,579 (34,646)
---Still good sales figure, no one expects them to do huge figures all the time & its only the 2nd week. Heck look at Cartel, they sell b/t 6k to 4k a week and that adds up. TEN can and probably will sell a lot more records w/the tours they are on or will be part of (warped & NGF tour).

Cartel - Chroma: 4,508 (72,791)
---Good for these guys! Great band/music/people! 100k not impossible w/Chroma's "rebirth" via the major label & tours (warped & NFG tour). Would like to see the EP pick up some steam as well.

The Format - Dog Problems: 5,339 (17,841)
---Hope these figures pick up though a steady 5k is nothing to be upset about. The tour w/AAR will be sure to help pump up sales. Perhaps the most unique sounding cd in a long time, i really really enjoy this cd!

07/26/06, 10:58 AM
No one has mentioned this:

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Don't You Fake It: 25,018 (25,151)

Thats WAY more than I expected....but I guess they are on a major arent they?

chcougar1
07/26/06, 11:00 AM
Also, Cartel isnt really gaining speed....they have been at 4500 for the past 3 or 4 weeks...consistency is good...and I'm sure they will get up to 10k after they jump into the TRL countdown

Also,
Panic! is losing just a little steam, but they are still selling over 35k which is insane haha!

I also noticed that they passed fall out boy for the most plays on myspace

07/26/06, 11:01 AM
i didn't see that dcfc had passed the gold mark, that is good news. that would be really cool if it went platinum , but i think it is nearing a drop off point.

EveryNewDay
07/26/06, 11:23 AM
i agree.. where's the working title? that cd is amazing and needs to be heard... also I think its awesome, that Underoath is still outselling Keane overall. both great albums that came out on the same day, but one has major label support, radioplay and everything... Underoath has about 1/10 of the money behind them and they're still selling almost 15k in their 5th week. i love it.

interesting thing that i learned

apparently gold and platinum numbers are in comparison to how many discs sold, so actually even though they would only sell 166,667 albums, the early november would actually go gold, how this makes sense i dont know but my brother explained it to me

so lets get them to gold at least

Nice to see Cartel is doing a bit better. Can't wait to see them get over 100,000. It's great to see Dog Problems is selling good, and it even hasn't even been out that long.

But The Futureheads' album 'News And Tributes' deserves to be doing alot better than it is. I'm disapointed with how Vagrant has done with them. I don't think I've seen any good marketing for that record. And The Futureheads is one of best bands on Vagrant.

Go on the TRL website, sign up, and write in Hair-The Early November. People don't like TRL and what it does to bands, but it's the only way these alblums are going to sell consistently.

An email I just got:

Hey jason-
just noticed kids on your board arguing about why we're selling less than 700 a week... we've actually [been] between 2-5k since warped started and the records at about 106,000 after 2 and a half months. So it's actually doing pretty well. just thought I'd let you know so the kids don't have to argue about it.

So all of you can stop bitching now - the band's excited about where they are - tell your friends to buy their CD, because it's damn good.

but I really hope "pop piano rock" does not become a common term used to classify bands.

I don't really understand the popularity of compilations like Now 22 seeing as people have the ability to burn their own discs from downloads. But there it is at the top of the charts. Guess I shouldn't become a record exec.

and also that's great news to hear from the format. they deserve good sales.

errr...where is Cute...you put Cheyenne on the list put not cute. Panic.....damn.....I used to be in love with them. I dont care about how many records people have sold, I wanna know how many people bought the album for either one song, who actually enjoy the album, and how many people illegally download it.

The fact that Aiden's album is even close to the amount that FFTL has sold for heroine is pathetic. Heroine was the most amazing album of the year for me, they should have Silversteins numbers by now. And seriously, I see FFTL fans everywheere. Seriously, too many people illegally download. At least get the album of your free trial at Emusic....they have the whole epitaph collection. I just got TREOS's and Cartels for free and its legal....free trials rule
