If you have friends, go xbox

That's a pretty solid rig. If you play video games seriously/semi seriously and have a good internet connection I'd definately get the PC.

However, if you only want to muck around every now and then, go with the Xbox

Xbox with pc gaming for the most part if you want the newest game you always have to keep upgrading your computer, which can get pretty costly. Although if you are going to do pc you should be playing wow or runescape because they are really the only games that have an advatage over the xbox.

The pc only beats consoles MMO besides that it is pretty pointless, unless you like modding. Although gaming companys are basically get rid of mods for a lot of games.

why a PC is better than XBOX

generally run at a higher resolution than 1080p
push more frames on games
have higher resolution textures
have dedicated servers (for the most part)
is free to play online (apart from some MMO's)
is customizable beyond all belief
has mouse and keyboard support
has cheaper games
more storage space

etc.

thats not to say i don't enjoy playing on consoles though.

Where do people get the ridiculous idea that you have to "keep upgrading your graphics card to play PC games?" That's like saying "If you want to take a long road trip, buy a bicycle over a car. In the future you'll have to buy a new car." Except stupider, because eventually you'll be buying a new console too, which is far more likely to break in the meantime.

Look. The xBox was made in 2005. It doesn't somehow magically upgrade its graphics card for you. So if you build a gaming PC now, it will have a much newer, much more powerful graphics card than what the xBox offers (even if the architecutres are different and console games are "optimized," yadda yadda yadda no). Yes, you can upgrade your graphics card often, if you want, to get better graphics. The xBox just doesn't have that option at all. Having no option is not better than having many options. Even if you buy a decent graphics card now and don't upgrade it until the next round of consoles come out, you will still have a more powerful machine than consoles. If you set your PC to play at a lower resolution, set textures to be low and crappy, and play on a TV and sit a few feet away, then it will look the same as a console. But it can look better, if you do get a better card. That's all there is to it.

Consoles and PC's both have their advantages. If you play FPS, get a PC. If you play adventure games or want to play with a bunch of friends, get a console. I wish people would just stop spreading misconceptions about PC's.

A lot of the games that come out for pc seem like they are just thrown together off the console games. If you are playing on the PSN then it is free for online play. Although they do get a few exclusive apart from what comes to consoles, I just feel like not as many considering consoles are more profitible and are the future of the industry.

I have both an extremely powerful gaming PC, and a 360. I use my 360 9 out of 10 times.

The PC is great for playing Starcraft 2 Beta and stuff like that, but unless you have a large group of friends that PC games, it's just not as fun, well in my opinion. I happen to have a bunch of friends with 360s, so I honestly think you should take into account those factors.

The way PC DRM is heading, I'm sticking clear of them altogether. I use Steam and that's pretty much it.

sometimes i hate your posts, and then you go and do something like that... and totally redeem yourself!

i have no real input on the pc side of this, but i do know that it's fun playing online with friends, and x-box makes that real easy.

I use to do a whole lot of computer gaming about 6 years hardcore (5 hours a day) and now that I switched over to console I'm enjoying it more.

Haven't played so I can't say, but I did say nearly. I'm not even much of a PC gamer, but most FPS' on PC are better than on console.

The point is, regardless of how good it is, you have to upgrade on pc or you can't play some new games.

That's incredibly misleading. Yes, new games come out all the time and eventually your computer won't be able to play them (or won't be able to play them to your satisfaction). Can you play Modern Warfare 2 on a Gamecube or PS2? No? Same thing, only PC's aren't released in "generations." It's not like you have to ugprade your graphics card every year. I bought a card for less than 200 dollars in 2007 and can still play every game on the market with it just fine, and for much cheaper than a console.
