the jays hopes dont rest on burnett...they have proven to be able to win without him.

This thread blows. There's an MLB thread for a reason... not just for playbyplay/yelling

plus...noobs have no clue, they think somehow nobody is discussing the AL East in here (despite the fact that the Central and East are THE two stories not named A-Rod in baseball)

oh, right, the jays hope ride on those other great arms in the rotation not name Roy Halladay and that lights out bullpen to get them to their closer who hasn't been as lights out as he was earlier in the year.
Yeah, bad to mediocre starting pitching, a bad bullpen minus the closer, and having to overcome both the yankees AND the red sox who have better pitching situations.
you're right. nothing can keep this juggernaut out of the playoffs.

all the jays have proven without him is that they can secure 3rd place.
so yeah, your hopes do rest on a.j burnett because so far you havent proved much of anything.

haha...i didnt mean they were making the playoffs. I meant their hopes of winning games does not rest on AJ who has won what, two or three decisions this season.
The Jays could have decent pitching if AJ would stay healthy and Cahcin would get healthy. Their bats can win them games.

Chacin is overrated, he gets a ton of run support and I'll bet he will end the year at .500. Casey Janssen has been crap so that's almost a loss every 5 days. Roy AJ and Lilly have been awesome recently and if Marcum can hold it together I think we can make a bit of a run.
But I do know one thing : The yankees won't make the playoffs.

right, which is why every stadium that wouldnt draw 20k normally, sells out whenever the yankees are in town, right?

most people would rather watch the yankees over the devil rays
a lot of people also go because they hate them. i know i went to heckle.

I agree with you. Chacin's ERA was atrocious before he got hurt. It seems like hitters have figured him out this year. Francisco Rosario was a good AAA starter. I wonder why they never really gave him a shot in the rotation. McGowan, I've given up hope on him ever becoming anything. Tommy John really fucked his talent.

I don't know what happened to McGowan. Kid's got sick stuff, sigh. Rosario should be given a shot to start, love him. Chacin hasn't been figured out, it's just the law of averages. His peripherals just weren't that good last year and he's coming back to earth; he's like Jorge Sosa on a much smaller scale.

yeah, because decent pitching and a reliance on big bats really helps the texas rangers rake in the titles.

The difference is the Rangers don't have an ace starting pitcher... the Jays have the 3rd best pitcher in the league... plus Speier and BJ are a good combo in the 9th, so their pen isn't as weak as has been said.

so they're 1 starting pitcher and 2 relievers ahead of the rangers. congratulations to them.
the rangers do have kevin millwood, who led the leage in era last year if i remember correctly. it's just that ballpark destroys pitchers, as does the heat.

They're in a bandbox, yes. Millwood's been terribly unlucky this year as well. His adjusted era is much lower than his actual one, but still, they're not as good because their offense dies on the road. They're a product of that ballpark. Case in point:
Tex '05:
Home - 1.109 OPS
Away - .809 OPS
Blalock '05
Home - .895 OPS
Away - .611 OPS
Soriano '05
Home - 1.011 OPS
Away - .639 OPS
'05
Rangers home record: 44-37
Rangers away record: 35-46
Nevermind, I was wrong. That differential isn't very high. I thought that they'd have a great differential in home/away splits due to their team being influenced greatly by the great offense in that park.
Anyways, yeah the Blue Jays are good.

so that just tells me the blue jays are slightly better than the rangers. the jays are sub .500 road team, as well. though, not as drastically as the rangers.

yeah that didn't prove anything at all really hahha... I just like the Jays. If Burnett stays in one piece, they could be dangerous. Their lineup is good... really good. Guys like Catalanatto and Reed are tearing it up

yeah, they've got a good lineup. but burnett isn't healthy, and he hasn't shown that he can stay healthy.
