The Attack of the Slime Monster episode was easily the most traumatizing thing I saw when I was a kid

Little ghost dude helps them solve crimes and shit using words. It's so fucking dope man I can't believe you haven't seen or watched it, based on your age.

Never exactly said. If I remember correctly, he was a cat that died way back in the day (maybe an ancestor of Jamal's?). Something like that.

Ah, I see. I remember watching as a kid, anxiously awaiting the moment they'd finally reveal the secret identity of ghostwriter.

I didn't ever wonder I don't think. I lived under a veil of ignorance that it was just some random motherfucker with a pension for gnarly grammar and an investigative thumb. Loved this show man.

Hahaha, well that's fair. I think the reason I was intrigued was due to a miniseries they had going for a while concerning the identity of ghostwriter. Then they never answered it or something. I was a frustrated kid.

You're older than I am, so your motor was chugging a bit more/faster than mine at the time. We'll chalk it up to that, hahah.

Haha, alright that's fair. I just read this on Wikipedia, which explains why I feel like I never got any answers:

The titular character of the series is an enigmatic figure. The mystery of Ghostwriter's true identity is never fully answered, although several clues are given during the course of the series in several of the mystery arcs. The producers' intent was to reveal Ghostwriter to be "a famous 15th- to 16th-century writer, but not Shakespeare" at the end of the first season, although this eventually never happened. D.J. MacHale, who wrote series' pilot, stated: "If memory serves, Ghostwriter was supposed to be an ancestor of Jamal's, who was an escaped slave from the south who educated himself and learned the value of reading."
So it appears you were correct about Jamal. Mystery solved. Thanks, Ghostwriter.

Man. Too bad they didn't delve deeper into Ghostwriter's past. I love a good slave side-story.

It certainly would have been an interesting story to tackle on children's programming.

"Wow Jamal, Ghostwriter was your ancestor who learned to read while he was on the run from slave traders, who were quite possibly my ancestors, through the underground railroad. Super interesting!"

about as good as a kids show from the 90s can be
