View Full Version : Steven-Johnson Syndrome
Anyone else heard of it?
I have a close friend who has it. She's in and out of the hospital all the time now because of it and she's probably going to end up dying from it.

Please tell me that's not an eye in that picture. Wow. That is awful, I am so sorry for your friend. Definitely try to keep him/her positive if it's definite they're not going to live; I couldn't even fathom how they must feel.
That's pretty terrible. Sorry to hear about your friend.

When I first read the title I thought this was going to be a joke thread.

That's fucked up. Hope your friend does alright.

She has some mental problems (genetic) and according to her mom, all the medication they had her on are the main cause of her getting it. So technically, it's not even her fault that she has it. If she does die (if she contracts it again and breaks out in blisters), she has a 40 - 50% chance of surviving it.

She's a naturally optimistic person. Despite her having it, she's still trying to live her life as normally as possible. She still goes to work, she tries to go to school, and she still tries to have a social life. I think deep down she knows she's not going to live anywhere near as long as she would like to, because she will die from this sooner or later, that part's inevitable.
So sorry. Can't imagine how either of you are feeling. Hope for the best.

SJS is almost always a reaction to medication.
