yeah...awesome times. Best sport I've found yet.

I play club at Allegheny (near Erie)...and I know there are at least 5-6 others in this forum as well.

It's one of those sports just waiting to blow up (like Lacrosse was 3-4 years ago or so)

my friends and I have been playing pick up games of it for the past 3-4 years in the summer but not of us are on any clubs...

so 1 out of about 40 people who play actually knows how to throw with the forearm and a hammer throw hahah

I played in high shcool and i play at BC. Its easily the most fun i have had playing a sport.

I haven't played it in a while, but it's a great game. Ultimate football is great too. (It's the same thing, just with a football)

it really is getting huge. ive been to the regionals around here the last few years and it just gets better and better.

last i heard its up in the running for ncaa, right behind womens basketball.

Its going to sound stupid trying to defend this sport to someone whose never played, but like any sport if youve never really played competitively you really just dont understand it. Ultimate is a physically demanding sport, just because its non contact and has the reputaiton of being played by a bunch of pot heads does not mean its not a hard thing to be good at it. There's more contact than baseball for example.....except i mean without having a ball thrown at your head 90+mph...

and like 75% of my team does not smoke but whatever.

Yeah...the teams taht still have that hippie aura around them go like 1-6 at tournaments at best.

Hammers are throws over your head kinda, thumbers are thrown with your thumb and hardly ever work in a game.

I dont know if I'll play with the official umass team. Ill try out or whatever, but ill probably be on b-team. I haven't played completive ultimate in a while and I lost accuracy on my backhand. I try and try, but cant seem to get it back. ideas?

Well honestly i mean in a typical game depending on the wind you dont throw that many backhands unless you are breaking people so thats not a huge deal, forehand is much more important. The same thing happened to me becuase you just throw it less and less. Try a different grip or throwing style for a little bit and see what happens. I basically only throw high releases now from my backhand in games.

Umass i think takes everyone, i forget if they have a b team. But sometimes b teams can be more fun just cuz its a little less competitive.

middle and index finger together on the inside of the disk and put your thumb on the outer rings and just flick your wrist. tilt the disk down a little when you throw so it goes straight.

I'm not good at explaining. yeah...a lot of people use their arm too much, and not their wrist with their flick. We made people hold their right arm with their left arm held behind their back as a way to avoid using your arm early on.

It's the kind of throw you have to mess around with and see what works for you
