Of all the bands that came from the break-up of the much missed Cap'n Jazz( Make Believe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_Believe_%28band%29), The Promise Ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Promise_Ring), American Football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Football_%28band%29), Owls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owls_%28band%29), Ghosts and Vodka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosts_and_Vodka), Joan of Arc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_of_Arc_%28band%29) and Owen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owen_%28band%29).) which do you think is best?

The only ones I care for are The Promise Ring and Ghosts & Vodka, but I can't claim either is "the best." They're just the ones I like.

Out of the ones I've heard, definitely American Football. By far. But the two I haven't heard are Make Believe and Ghosts and Vodka. So I can't say AF for sure.

In my Opinion:
1. Owen/ American Football
2. Joan of Arc
3. Ghosts and Vodka
I haven't heard the other three, but I really want to get an album by The Promise Ring now that I have seen people like it. Any suggestions?

I think the Make Believe EP is pretty sweet, but I can't rank any of these bands.

I like all of them except Make Believe, which is just meh to me. But my ranking goes like this.
The Promise Ring > American Football > Cap'n Jazz > Ghosts & Vodka > Owen > Joan of Arc > Owls >>>>> Make Believe
I like the more melodic emo stuff, obviously.

I think Wood/Water is the best, listen to the band maritime to. It's the same lead singer as promise ring. We the Vehicles is the album I like best from them.

The Promise Ring, American Football and Owen all make beautiful music.
I tried listening to Joan Of Arc but haven't been impressed thus far. Maybe I've started in the wrong place. Joan Of Arc fans, what album is the best?????
They're all phenomenal, but the one that holds the biggest place in my heart is probably American Football. Still, Cap'N Jazz takes the top spot of all Kinsella bands. My least favorite is probably Owen.

Have you really listened to Owen, or are you just saying that based on you listening to a few songs and not finding them catchy and just dull?

I'm listening to it now. Is there any song in particular that I should start with too sorta get me hooked, or should I just go from the beginning?

I've listened to everything he's ever released. I'm a huge fan of the Kinsella family, it just seems that Mike is not filtering his songwriting anymore, and he's becoming more and more generic.

"I Want the Blindingly Cute to Confide in Me" is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Generally speaking, Villareal is just such a fantastic guitarist that he and Kinsella combine for something pretty awesome. Definitely more interesting music than Owen and the Promise Ring, definitely better than Make Believe, and for me, more likable than Joan of Arc.

Joan of Arc for sure, Ghosts and Vodka second, although they are much better musicians IMO
Owls is the worst, with the exception of Everyone is My Friend.

All of the above--and also, where is the love for Maritime? That would be one of my favorites.

Really hard to pick a favorite. I guess the album I listened to most was American Football's self titled, though.

I still can't say I like them more than AF or Owen or Joan of Arc. Maybe more than Ghosts and Vodka. I'll keep listening.
