Anyone going to watch this tonight after the closing ceremonies on NBC?

Read about Ricky Gervais partaking in this on his blog, look forward to anything he's involved in so I'll catch it when I can.

I might watch it just to see what it's like. My mom thinks it's a stupid idea but we'll see.

Definitely worth checking out for me, just to see Alec Baldwin, Ricky Gervais and Jerry Seinfeld

I can't stomach Jerry Seinfeld, and the show doesn't look terribly interesting. I'm mostly just sad that the olympics are over.

I might give it a shot. Looks like it might be funny.

It looks stupid, but they get good celebs. I have a feeling it will be one of those things that is only entertaining depending upon which celb. is partaking, and even then it could get old after a while.

I agree. Get such good stars for what seems to be a pretty shoddy kinda show.

And it's not even the ones who do everything under the sun. Made me wonder what kind of magic and or paycheck NBC had to offer.

"Nickelback and Avril Lavigne still to perform.. but first we bring you the premiere of Jerry Seinfeld's 'The Marriage Ref'."

Relief.

Ugh. Seinfeld is funny. That's about it. The "ref" is painfully unfunny. It's obviously scripted. Too gimmicky, just have Seinfeld and friends muse about these situations. Won't be back next season.

I really love Seinfeld, but this show is chock full of meh. I'll watch the episode with Larry David and Ricky Gervais, but the basic premise of this show isn't all that interesting to watch, so I highly doubt even they can help it. I can't believe they cut into the Olympics closing ceremony for this.

It was kinda funny, but entirely because of the panel. The arguments were scripted and the host is brutal. And guess what, next week the panel goes away. Guess what show I'm not watching...

And what is with this whole MARRIAGE thing? Staying together with one person your whole life? That's like me trying to hail a cab in Palestine! /seinfeld

It wasn't horrible, but definitely not something I would worry about catching when it first airs, let my dvr record it and i'll watch the episodes when nothing else is on. But I am really anxious to see the episode with Larry David.

The show would be much better without that slimy host and...

1. Get rid of half the audience (especially those behind the stage)
2. Get rid of the laugh track, stop using it when there's just a transition.
3. Get rid of the "facts" segment. It's stupid and awful and boring.
4. Get rid of Marv Alberts recap, I know what I just saw a minute ago. See 3 points from #3
5. Turn down the lights by 50%
6. Give the celebrities drinks

Wow. I watched about ten minutes and couldn't take any more. That host's monologue in beginning was just laughably bad. The jokes were just so broad- even by the guests. There was no edge or wit at all. I can't image the thousands of dollars spent on this piece of shit.
I read this on another blog, but why do they have a baseball analogy in the intro when baseball uses umpires and not referees?

When watching Tina Fey I was actually expecting her to say "That's a dealbreaker ladies!"

Oh, shit! I just had to say "hey" as a fellow Green Bay-er. I never really see anyone from the 920 around these boards. So are you an east sider or west sider?

Just watched the Larry David/Ricky Gervais/Madonna episode from Thursday and thought it was great. Larry David and Madonna had a pretty good banter going on between them and I love Gervais. Really enjoyed it.

I wasn't expecting him to be that funny or that I would like him that much on it, but I thought he was great and I surprisingly found him more likeable than Madonna and Larry David.

Kyle Huntington
03/23/10, 06:28 AM
Could tell Gervais found the whole thing so weird and so unlike anything else he would normally agree to do, made it even funnier when he started tearing into how weird it all was. Most people assume that was purely for comedic value, but can tell he actually meant it whilst delivering it in a humourous way.

Yeah, me too. I've never been too fond of Madonna and I've never seen Larry David on TV before, so Ricky Gervais really made the show for me. His laugh is so entertaining!
