I know there are a bunch of Dredg threads already, and some for this album, but I just had to say something.
If you are reading this and have never heard this album, you must listen to it immediately. I have been listening to this album for the past 8 years and it still blows me away every time I hear it. Incredible, I'm sure most of you will agree.

Masterpiece. This record is so strong, the first time I listened I had to stop at "Of The Room" thinking it couldn't possibly get any better afterward, there's just no way the finish was gonna live up to my expectations. Haha...oh man.

Excellent, excellent album. Took a while to grow on me, though

Great fucking album. Love this band.
Also, the letters in the booklet about sleep paralysis are creepy.

I absolutely love this album, but after listening to Pariah... I have to say I might like it even more than El Cielo. It's just so cohesively crafted and diverse.

I really can't seem to get into Pariah, not sure whether or not to check this out.

newest album was probably the weakest, but still quite good. catch without arms & el cielo were too good for words. all teh way through.

Do it, then come back and thank me. Pariah is great, but El Cielo is miles ahead of it.

Yea, "Pariah..." took a little bit to grow on me, but I absolutely love it now. "Quotes" is one of the best songs they have ever done. Still their worst album tho, out of the big 4. "Leitmotif" is incredible too.

After listening to El Cielo, I can safely say it's miles ahead, way more cohesive and just so much more satisfying

Give it a couple more listens, get to know the album better, and you will love it even more. I usually recommend "Catch Without Arms" first to people because its much more straightforward of an album. If you love "El Cielo" then check out "Leitmotif", their first (sort of) album, really awesome stuff but much less accessible than their other albums, but has the same sort of song...interlude..song..song..inter lude... type formula. Then try to tackle "Pariah".

Will do. It'll be a while before I work through em though, I like to listen to an album obsessively until I feel like I completely know it.

Same way I think about their catalogue. I'd say the newest release is about = Catch Without Arms, for me at least, as well.

I'd agree with that even though I haven't given it enough of a chance.

I honestly kept forgetting they had a new album, and when I finally did get around to giving it a good listen, it sat pretty well with me.
I actually think Leitmotiff was a random buy for me as I had never heard of Dredg before. I heard good things about it on a website here or there, went out and bought it and was blown away. I still love that album to death..the instrumentals are so, so gorgeous. It's pretty cool too see how far they've come fromtheir Orph E.P.

I bought Leitmotiff when I seen them open up for Taprrot...lol that was a long time ago.
but yeah...the musicianship on that album stands out in comparison to everything else they've done.

I did the same, heard some good things about Leimotif way back in 2001 (i think) and just randomly bought the cd, as soon as "Symbol Song" kicked in I was like HOLY SHIT this is awesome. Then a couple months later or something they released (or it leaked) "Of The Room" way before "El Cielo" was even released and that song took my breath away. And i STILL havent seen them live, godamnit.
