after 16 years in school i've mastered ways of either masking or averting the the stomach grumble. Hell, i've learned how to send the sound to someone else therefore they are blamed for the embarrassing disturbance.

This happens to me all the time. And it's the worst in my class where the teacher lectures for 2.5 hours. I eat before it starts...but it doesn't help.

I eat breakfast at 6am but my lunch is at 11:15am. I'm one of those people who get hungry just an hour after eating, so I'm near death by the time lunch comes around if I don't snack on something during class.

Our school of 2500+ students crams all of us into one lunch period.
The cafeteria's maximum occupancy limit is 950, so more than half the school has to eat outside. Sometimes the lines for food will last pretty much the entirety of the half hour lunch period.

I envy the fact that you can even eat outside. For safety reasons we have a closed campus. You can't even leave the cafeteria to go to the bathroom without your ID.

It's a closed campus here, too, but we have a full courtyard area that we're able to (and oftentimes have to) eat in. It's really messed up sometimes though. But food fights are so worth it.

I'm just a senior in high school and have no plans to major in English- the career opportunities are quite limited. I just feel that if I'm going to speak the language I may as well do it right. But you're probably right that you'll make more money than I will. No big deal though.
