This is the first post and must be used as a basis for everyone's opinion on this Thrice prospect.

Here is the official opinion that you may subscribe to for the remainder of this thread:

This is maybe the most excited I've ever been after reading an MTV article. 25 songs of Thrice in a short period!?! Self-produced!?! Dustin's solo project in October!?! Oh, I am a happy camper...

And I was really surprised to see that Vheissu has sold almost 200,000....I thought people were talking about how much of a dissapointment it was sales-wise, but thats not bad considering they got no radio/video play. Cheers!

That's too much. It will probably have a few good parts, but overall I doubt that it will be good.

That is a lie! :O

I guess we will have to wait and see. I'm remain optimistic about it.

Now they will release 4 more CDs that closed-minded fans will hate.

I'm quite excited for these releases, and have been wanting Dustin to put out a CD for a while now.

I think its going to suck as well, Vheissu wasn't even half good and it was only 11 songs.

I have mixed feelings. I mean, I really like Thrice but few bands (if any?) can do a really good double album, and they're trying to spread themselves thin over 4 discs.

but who knows.

along with a bunch of his solo songs, staring at the sun and artist in the ambulance, Dustin covered the following in Philly:

The Beatles - Oh Darling
Radiohead - Creep
Counting Crows - Round Here
U2 - One (see link in my previous post)
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=964CD96E28491476)
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
Possibly something else but that's all i can think of off the top of my head.

I recorded the first 1:30 of Hide and Seek but i ran out of room on my memory card.

This is why Thrice is one of my all-time favorite bands and I think Dustin is definitely near the top when it comes to lyricist/songwriters in this scene. icannotwaitforthis.

whoop! whoop! i really liked Vheissu. it may have not been as a rocking disc compared to their other releases but definatley it was flawless. i enjoyed how they made an album that sounded completely diffrent from the others i just hope there's more tunes on the next album that you can rock out to and have an urge to get your adrenaline pumping.

Amen to that! I'm not a blind follower but if I could borrow a line from Ben Gibbard for a second: "I will follow [them] into the dark." I could not agree more with your comments Jared. Musically I love this band but on a respect level, I can't think of another band I hold as highly as Thrice. I have huge expectations for these releases and just like Vheissu, I don't expect to be disappointed.

its ironic that the early november just ventured out into the world of multiple disc releases (with 3) and now thrice wants to come out with 4...all i can say is i hope it costs the same as 1 cd, as TEN did.

i hope this doesnt become a new trend, the more than two disc cd deal. i feel like TEN pulled it off very well and others that try will fall short, but who knows...

p.s. i really hope they go with the earth, wind, fire, water theme you guys posted about a couple weeks ago.

Thrice is great, but only in small doses.

the thing i think people are overplaying is the idea of 4 discs. its not as though they are putting out 4 full lengths, but more like 2 full lengths split in half. dustin said it would be around 25 songs, so that constitutes about a double-albums worth of songs. i'm assuming that it will be that each disc sort of has a different feel. i imagine it would be sort of like ryan adams "love is hell"....two ep-length discs....just that doubled. ambitious, yes....but amazing.

also, thats a pretty badass setlist for his solo show and i'm excited to see him on sunday. how long did he play for/how was the opener???

The openers were good. I saw the colour revolt open for brand new a few times and didnt really like them that much but i liked them acoustic. Ben Nichols from Lucero was great, every song he played was something someone in the crowd yelled. It was a fun set. Dustin played all of those covers, 2 thrice songs and like maybe 6 or 7 originals (i cant remember exactly how many, i've already changed my estimate since my last post)

that kind of a waste of discs...25 songs split up to 4 cds. if done evenly, that is roughly 6-7 songs...so basically 4 EP?s why not 2 cds split into four sections. Like part 1 and 2 on one cd and 3 and 4 on another.

just putting it out there, haha thrice can do whatever they want (obviously) i can see how its really just to further isoltae each group of songs. seems like its more for the shock of a four cd release.

(im not bashing thrice, just trying to think with reason)

Not sure how I feel about it being self-produced, but the four albums idea is a cool one.

If only they had a more rabid major following. Something like this seems like it'll get them cut from Island

Possibly, but they did mention that it would be self-produced, so you never know. Also, people kept talking about them getting dropped from Island since Vheissu "didn't sell well" but with 200K, I dunno if thats a logical thought anymore. Anybody know their status on Island?

Amen! Thrice always seems to desire growth and something new when it comes to putting out records, and Dustin is always coming up with something brilliant to say in his songs. I am so fucking excited to hear where this goes. Next to Jimmy Eat World, this just might be my most anticipated release for 2007.
