Well I don't know about that, but Chronic Arthritis can't be "cured". So if he has it, he has it for life.

No, I just read the thread title and mistook it for Silverstein, I didn't look at the picture.

Never heard of them.
The world gets darker and darker every day. I do not have much hope for the future. One day in high school a few years ago I decided to take a random poll of how many people know who Eddie Vedder is. The results were devastating. What is happening? Most kids know every word to the new Nickelback Mountain song.....so sad.

Silverchair were kinda the same deal as Nickelback. A knock off of early 90's rock music. I liked them (silverchair) but I was 12. And yeah, they did kinda come into their own sound on Neon Ballroom. Eddie Vedder on the other hand, amazing.

you sir, are wrong. silverchair were never the same "deal" as nickelback.
1. nickelback suck ass. a lot of it.
2. silverchair don't. never have.
you're really missing out by writing them off. they're more than some bland, fleeting radio rock band.

amen. let's see nickelback write anything close to ana's song. not gonna happen. also keep in mind that they wrote and recorded frogstomp when they were FIFTEEN, and that's an awesome album. top that, nickelback.

go listen to "Neon Ballroom" and then promptly shove foot in mouth.
I never thought I'd hear a new Silverchair album.. I'm so happy.
They look so different! They've definetely grew up!

So this news item is a little confusing. They're releasing the album at a festival? In Australia?
I wouldn't expect this in the States until like, March at the earliest.
Is homeboy still banging Natalie Imbruglia?

Neon Ballroom isn't their high point...Diorama is. The album wasn't ever promoted in the US because Daniel had severe anorexia (not chronic arthritis) and was unable to tour. Diorama is a very lush, orchestrated album that deserves a listen.

haha! I was just thinking about this song but couldn't remember its name!! one of my all-time favorite songs that I probably haven't heard in 5 years...thanks! Gotta go listen to this band now...
well he is still married to natalie imbruglia, so i would imagine he's "still banging her"...those will be some hot babies. and yes, diorama is their highpoint thus far, so hopefully this will be even better. and to the remark about them sounding like a ripoff of early 90's rock, they wrote the stuff that sounds like that in the early 90's, so yes, i guess you would be correct.
I use to love these guys years and years ago, hopefully they come back strong.

Nice. I remember when that one song "year 2000" came out when I was 14 and I used to love it. I saw a recent pic of these guys and they're friggin irrecognizable.
I thought the thread title meant they already released four albums in 2006.

Listen to this man. Diorama is the album that made me love Silverchair. I've always liked them. Frogstomp and Neon Ballroom are both great albums. It's just that Diorama was the album that made me look at the band in a whole new light. Listen to Frogstomp and then listen to Diorama. It's an amazing difference. Also, there are a ton of videos of Silverchair in the studio on their main page: Silverchair (http://www.chairpage.com) where you can hear bits and pieces of new songs. All I can say is that if this does come out this year in the states then it may end up being my favorite album of the year.

A little useless information, Daniel Johns also wrote a song for Natalie Imbruglia on her new record Counting Down the Days. I don't remember which song it is, but that's the album it's on according to Wikipedia.

And now...
Does anyone else think the guy on the left looks like Jason Lee from My Name is Earl?
I'm anxious to see what comes next for these guys. 5 years removed Diorama and from 7 years since Neon Ballroom. One of my FAVORITE albums in high school.
Their Myspace page has 4 songs, 1 from each of the albums. www.myspace.com/silverchair (http://www.myspace.com/silverchair)

um, i'm pretty sure neon ballroom was when daniel was dealing with anorexia (hence, "ana's song"). i saw them play twice in support of that album.

i think daniel wrote neon ballroom when had anorexia and was getting over dealing with it, and then he had to slow down touring from the chronic arthritis (and maybe from some anxiety too). so he had both. anyway, i am so excited to hear the new stuff! they should tour in the US too.....

k;j;kjsf;lajfljalj;lakfj;akjf;alkjf lj Some kid mistaked Silverchair for Silverstein?! Oh man...
This is going to be the best December yet!
Did someone on this thread actually say they had never heard of Silverchair. That makes me pretty fucking sad. They get better with each album and Diorama is my all time favorite album from anyone. Ive been anticipating this album for years now....waiting til December now doesn't seem like all that long.
Although I wonder and almost suspect that the December release date is Australia only and the US release a month or so later.

Actually, it is about his anorexia. I remember him talking about that on TRL when that song hit #1, and the band came on the show. I've heard that in other interviews as well, so yeah.

someone compared Silverchair to nickelback and that is seriously mistaken. Silverchair is a good band and have continued to release progressively better material. I can not wait!
Also, he looks like James Marsters (spike) in that picture.
and yes ANa's Song is about his ordeal with anorexia. This is what made him often ill and almost ruined their chance of releasing their last album Diorama since he looked so sickly skinny the record label didn't want to promote a tour. (there were also other issues such as the label wanting certain songs. you know that same old garbage labels do.)
