Vocalist on Warp Records, a voice that is equal parts R&B, folk, and eastern, has Flying Lotus and the Gaslamp Killer producing much of his music, and just in time for P4k to give his new album a BNM. What's not to like?

So? I'd care more if it got a good rating on SOTS.
Not sure I really dig this. It's cool, but not quite my thing. Maybe I'll revisit it someday and see if it sounds better to me then. I approve of his facial hair, though.

You mean the website I work for? Okay, on behalf of SOTS, I declare this record has a good rating, or whatever. Now enjoy it, damnit.

That's a pretty hefty declaration, Brain

Oh... Alright then. Guess I have to dig this record now.

I was going to email you about this record a few weeks ago when I received a heads-up from Warp, Brian. We could have heaped praise on it before the Fork! Regret's a bitch.

I know. I've been really digging this since it leaked back in, I don't know, January? I was just too lazy to make a thread for it, and now my cred is paying the price.

Really is.
As for the record (A Sufi And A Killer), good stuff. Wasn't sure what to expect after the Kowboyz&Indians single and I was pleasantly surprised with the full-length.

I got the leak from a shady source in December. I've spent a few months with it. It's good. I need more time with it. His collaboration with Gaslamp Killer was also pretty solid. He released some stuff under other pseudonyms too (Sumach). They're worth looking up.

Those of you digging Gonjasufi should do yourselves a favor and check out Free the Robots. They're good.

Ugh, I meant to do so after you suggested them to me on last. I really like this track. Where guys like FlyLo mix jazz and hip hop/electronica in a manner that is more as a novelty (not that it is necessarily a bad thing) and not as an equal, umm, "contribution", I guess (like you would never consider FlyLo as jazz or jazz-*genre*), this combines equal parts of both jazz and hip-hop. I'll check out some more of them tomorrow sometime.

Good to hear, Brian. I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, for the record (not that you mentioned I had). I just thought this would be an appropriate thread to namedrop these guys.
But yeah, Gonjasufi is good.

Prototype is a solid record, yeah. For more recent jazz-hip hop junk, Clin D'Oeil by Jazz Liberatorz is quite an engaging listen as well if you're keen on the sound. Or anything by Nujabes really.

New record is so good. Especially 'Sheep'.

It's a good read, peeps. Give it a look (and I'm not saying that simply because I like Gonjasufi. Brian's a good writer).

I keep coming back to this, never works out for me. Not very into it. I'd rather go sit and listen to some John Mayer and sip a nice chardonnay.
I love this guy. The background vocals on 'Sheep' are incredible.

So yeah, never bothered to check out his main release this year, but I think I will now after hearing the remix album. It's very good. Really like Candylane (Bibio Remix.)
