that show was funny actually because the like lead guitar player yelled at the crowd a little bit. Like nobody was there for gargantula (i think thats what the opening band was called). Anyways, later on the guy in pelican asked the crowd if they liked gargantula and the crowd gave a big cheer. Then the pelican guy was like " shut the fuck up most of you werent even here when they played, show some respect" he wasnt joking at all either.

Calling me a tool 3 times in one post, after 4 edits...is quite comical. But since you said that, let's digress. Here is a definition I found of a tool, A person who tries too hard to fit into the mainstream idea of cool. And I'm not sure what Brand New being "relevant" actually means...they're relevant to what? Brand New really doesn't have that much of an original sound, they're just good at that type of music. Portugal has a much more original, creative sound. Just because more people like more of a sound that's been used before, doesn't mean the band is better or a bigger influence. And Brand New is huge on this site, yes, but outside of this site...they really aren't THAT popular. It's not like Brand New is TONS more popular than Portugal. I'm sure there's many people who think Portugal's sound is influential, because of it's originality. You can't really compare these 2 bands' sense of influence.

American Ghetto, its like a part 2 album of Satanic Satanist...then I'd listen to Censored Colors. That's their best in my opinion, it's their most creative and flows like no other.

I personally think Brand New is utterly overrated and most of the time, I can't stand the vocals, however I will admit I listen to them occasionally. That said, I'm with OP, as I don't think they're good enough to be everyone's favorite so I too am curious as to how many would choose another band (PtM in this case) over them. I don't think I've really read anything where OP was saying, "Hey, stop listening to Brand New, listen to other stuff," or anything close. His curiosity should not translate into him converting anyone. He stated his opinion, and he's right: everyone's getting pissy over it. Deal with it.

And in the argument about which band is better, Portugal just has a stronger library. As was noted before me, everything they've put out is amazing. They have quantity AND quality. I feel like it took Brand New a CD to get to that point and I can't say their entire collection is good (I hated Daisy). But again, these are all MY OPINIONS because this is the Internet, so cool yourself, champ.
