Group video is kinda a tough category this year.

lol thats funny.
i'm not embarassed to say that i still like panic at the disco, but there's no way that video deserves to be up for video of the year (or anything besides maybe best new artist).
oh and in case anyone's interested, all of the awards are decided by viewer votes this year, so any meaning the VMAs had left is now gone completely. (and yes there is still a "viewer's choice" category for some bizarre reason)

Somebody get the hoses... I sense the flames are coming.
I say congrats to them...It's nice to see a little parity in these things rather than the same bubble gum pop all the time. I wouldn't consider "I Write Sins.." as one of the top videos this year, but it really has been one of the most played and downloaded songs out there so I guess the success of it might have meritted the nomination. I'll bet Fall Out Boy takes Group and Viewer's Choice.
Not to be bitchy, but that video doesn't really deserve a nomination. It was a low budget FBR thing.
There are tons of other bands & videos more deserving.
I'm sure if they don't win 3 out of the 5 awards they'll flip out, too. Panic=assholes now. I'm so glad I got to see them live before they were what they are now.

i'd rather panic! be famous than nickelback. because no matter how much i dislike them, those guys know how to use different instruments and witty lyrics to craft a song better than 90% of bands out there.
yes, they have incredible lyrics for their style of music. nobody should argue that. and i fucking hate the band.
wow. is it just me or has the quality of videos and bands being nominated for MTV awards decreasing rapidly?
Look at some of the former winners...

Panic at the Disco are bubble gum pop. I'm pulling for Rhianna.

Why the fuck isn't "Dance, Dance" nominated for Best Dance Video?? The song is called "Dance, Dance" for fuck's sake!!

Their lyrics are not incredible. They are uncredible.

even more saturation for this average pop group.

Agreed. You just cheapened the word 'incredible.'

Ick, you just made me notice that I used "they're" instead of "their", now my argument is void. I must now go die in a fire.

Panic at the Disco are bubble gum pop. I'm pulling for Rhianna.
I wouldn't say so... I'm talkin the likes of those Christina Aguileras, Nick Lacheys, Jessica Simpsons... I wouldn't deny that Panic! is pop music, but I'd group them under that pop-rock genre. I'm not pulling for her, but I think Rihanna will win it.

You might as well give them the awards.
It's stricly fans voting this year, which destroys the awards entirely. Everyone is gonna vote them..

This band should just conceive a child band with Fall Out Boy and successfully make the first band ever that is worse than Hawthorne Heights.

That video fucking sucks, and if Panic! beats A7X for best new artist I'll probably end up breaking my TV.

This doesn't surprise me at all. As long as they don't start winning Grammy's - that's when I'll start throwing a fit.

The differences are really more or less in the marketing. Switch out producers, stylists, and publicists, and Panic could be opening for Lachey no problem. And just for the record, I'd rather listen to Aguilera's new album any day.

A7X is the worst excuse for a band out there. I used to be the biggest fan of them during STST and WTF, but City of Evil was just horrible. The first 5 songs were decent, but beyond that it was utter 80's metal ballad crap. I'd like to see them win some MTV awards to see how it affects their huge inflated egos.

Awesome avatar. I saw them live last week and they were killer.
I agree with the Nickelback remark. All of Nickelback's hits are the same song. And that one song that has been five different hits...sucks.
At least Panic! actually is a new artist. A lot of times the best new artist category includes bands that have been in the game for years. I think AFI was nominated for that when Sing the Sorrow was out. I could be wrong. I know for a fact that A7X is not new.

The All-American Rejects are nominated for Best Group Video for the song "move along" ...that is ridiculous because 90% of the video is just Tyson...

07/31/06, 12:54 PM
We all know Panic!'s nominations are as a result of their bridging the pop/alternative scene and the 13 and 14 year old girls who are the "TRL" generation are pretty much the only reason they're nominated. But why so many, is what I'm wondering? 5? Jesus.
since when did mtv start showing music videos?
hahahaha right?
angels and airwaves? i find that to be a surprise, is it just cuz tom was in blink??
Are you kidding me? The video for The Adventure is amazing.

I agree, this makes absolutely no sense. Him morphing into himself into different shirts and scenery is a sorry excuse for a music video.

I don't even like some of the music A7X has out there. I work for WB and worked their show with Coheed earlier this summer. A7X is one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Their live show is amazing, and the guys are RI-DIC-U-LOUS at guitar.

I'm the opposite- I think City of Evil is an amazing album and I love how their bringing back the big "fuck you" rockstar attitudes from the 80's (I love GnR and Metallica and stuff). I liked a few choice songs from WTF, but most of that album and STST were pure screamo garbage imo.

woah woah. the video for the adventure is boring and pretentious. the video for move along is mesmerising and fun. it's a cool effect that pumps the song along nicely with also a nice contrast (he is standing still in the video for "move along"). move along is my fave video of the year so far.

Not really, all shred, no soul.

Not even speaking on their music, their videos are bad, so this is surprising.. only a little though, because it is MTV.

Panic's popularity, much like Prohibition, the Iraq War, and slavery, will go down in history as "What on earth were we thinking?"

why shouldn't they deserve it?
congrats to them, they deserve everything they get
"move along" should best editing easily.
also, i'm surprised that "a little less sixteen candles.." didn't get any nominations. i thought that video was rad.
love the band, hate the videos.
I hope Red Hot Chili Peppers win!!

It's amazing that the mods do nothing about half this thread being flat out TROLLING. Not interesting conversation about why the band sucks, but LOL LIKE THEYD ESERVEANYTHINGLOLOLOL AM I RITE OR RITE????????
Holy shit people, grow up. They're a good band, they have good lyrics, good melodies. Don't cry because they got popular REALLY fast and your band that has tried to get popular for 10 years hasn't.
