One of the strongest bonds I have with my dad is through sports, so he brought me up following all the pro teams he grew up with.

NFL: Giants. My first football memory is wide right.
MLB: Yankees.
NBA: Knicks. I still have pictures I drew of John Starks back in 3rd grade.
NHL: Used to follow the Rangers, but I haven't truly followed Hockey since the Rangers won in '94.

NCCAB: Syracuse. My best friend is a huge fan because his dad went there, so this is really the only team my dad didn't get me hooked on.

NFL: colts, my dads side of the family is from baltimore when unitas played before moving up here and we stuck by them. although i do have love for the giants because they are my girlfriend's team, new york's team, and they beat the pats in the superbowl. i'm down with the jets too because they are better than the pats in the afc east now and i fuckin love rex ryan
NBA: used to love da bulls then jordan and gang left, then the nets then kidd and gang left, im liking the knicks right now so im not a front runner when lebron gets there
NHL: haven't watched since the devils lost to the avalanche like 7 years ago
MLB: yanks. my first ever baseball game ever in 1997 derek jeter came over and signed mine and my brother's baseball bats (it was bat day)
Soccer: american soccer sucks

NCAAF: uconn and anyone who beats notre dame, florida, and texas
NCAAB: uconn men and women

NBA: Was a Pacers fan but haven't followed much at all since Reggie left
NHL: Devils. Hometown team. Basically have had season tickets since I was 10
MLB: Rays. Got sick of the Yankees around 2005...lost interest for a while and when I was at my house in Florida went to 5 Rays games and fell in love

NFL: Colts. When I started watching football eight, or nine years ago I had a cousin who liked the colts so that had an influence
NBA: Toronto Raptors. Only Canadian team
NHL: Toronto. Always have, always will.
MLB: Blue Jays.

NCAAF: Penn State

NFL: It was the Redskins until this year, as I've been raised my whole life as a Skins fan. However, after seeing Snyder ruin the team over the past few years, I decided to become a Lions fan. Actually, it was right after the 7-6 "win" over the Rams that I decided it, not knowing that the Lions were playing the Skins next week! The Lions won, and it just affirmed my decision even more. I have several bets that the Lions will be in the playoffs by 2011-2012 season.
NBA/MLB/other sports: I really don't care. I root for the teams with players I like, especially in the MLB.

NFL: Vikings. Not really sure why.. had a few friends who were into American Football and about a year and a half ago I took an active intrerest following the sport, but hadn't picked a team. I eventually decided to and watching the Vikings they just stuck out to me. Loved watching Peterson.

Football: Billericay Town. My local club, they're a few divisions below professional football - Dad took me and my sister when we were 7 or 8 and got us season tickets and I've been going since.

Throwback
03/07/10, 10:32 AM
NFL: Eagles. Always and forever.
NBA: Sixers, but haven't been nearly as in love since Iverson left the first time.
MLB: Phillies. Loved 'em as a kid when they were terrible, stopped watching for a few years, got super into them again right at the beginning of the 2007 season when they got swept by the Rockies in the playoffs. I was super pissed.

Don't care about soccer, hockey, or college sports, but go Villanova in NCAA basketball I guess. As you can see I'm a home town type of guy, but as far as 'side teams' go, I love the Chargers and I used to love the Orioles (Ripken, mainly) and the Jaguars (Fred Taylor/Mark Brunell) when I was a kid, so I'll always have a soft spot.

NFL: Browns (my dad is a fan and introduced me to football)
NBA: Don't really follow the NBA, but if I had to choose, it'd be the Cavs because they're the closest I have to a "hometown" team
NHL: Devils (I grew up in Jersey, they were my introduction to hockey)
MLB: Yankees (same reason as above except replace hockey with baseball)
Soccer: Crew (lived in Columbus when the MLS was founded, went to their inaugural game, been a fan ever since), Chelsea (college roommate was a huge fan, we'd watch matches together)

NCAAF: Ohio State (dad went to OSU, then we lived in Columbus)
NCAAB: Ohio State (same as above)
NCAAH: Miami University (alma mater)
NCAA Baseball: Miami University (same as above)

Other:
AAA Baseball: Columbus Clippers (dating to when they were part of the Yankees farm system, and also due to my aforementioned Columbus affiliation)
Canada national curling team (they sweep better than your mom)

MLB: Cardinals - my dad
NBA: Thunder - finally a hometown team. Pacers - Reggie Miller. When he left and then the brawl went down, it severely diminished my interest
NFL: Broncos - Honestly, I loved the uniforms (sounds like a girl), but I also loved watching Terrell Davis when he was healthy
NHL: Avs - can't really explain why. I don't watch hockey, but I've always followed them somewhat
College: Arkansas - Grew up my whole life going to games with my dad.

MLB: Red Sox - always liked them when they played against the Jays on tv here, really became a fan the year of Aaron Boone
NBA: Raptors - Vince Carter in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest
NFL: Bears - uncle lives in Chicago and would always send me Bears stuff he got from his work
NHL: Bruins - got a Ray Bourque jersey for Christmas when I was 5 and started watching them after that
NCAA: don't really care. I like USC and Michigan but I wouldn't call either of them my team.

Drew Beringer
03/07/10, 11:09 AM
NFL: Packers (hometown)
MLB Brewers (hometown) then Red Sox (because of a silly bet back in 2003)
NBA: Bucks (hometown/dad's favorite team), Bulls (Mom's favorite team), used to enjoy the Pacers with Reggie and pre-fight.
NHL: Penguins because when I was 10 my uncle got me NHL 94 for the Sega and I liked Mario Lemieuix and penguins were my favorite animals.
NCAA BB: Wisconsin and Marquette because hometown teams growing up (moving to Indiana after 8th grade ruined my dreams of ever attending Madison)
NCAA FB: Wisconsin

CubbyNick42
03/07/10, 11:17 AM
MLB: Cubs - my grandma's a fan.
NFL: Bears - grew up a Panthers fan, switched over when I went to college
NCAA FB & BB: Michigan - loved CWebb once he was in the NBA, but never watched him in college. Never been to Michigan.
NHL: Blackhawks - watched all four games since the Olympics, so I guess I'm a fan now.

NFL: Bears - uncle lives in Chicago and would always send me Bears stuff he got from his work
Ahh OK, always wondered about that.

NFL: Redskins; father was born in D.C. so I've grown up rooting for them
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder; Their rookie Harden went to my university and they are fun to watch.
NHL: Devils; From Jersey.

NCAAB: ASU Sun Devils; go to school there, my father has been teaching there for years.

NFL - Steelers - I followed the NFL for years, but never had a fav until about 2 years ago. I started to like them because of their playing style and Polamalu. :D
AF - Vienna Vikings - I know, American Football means for Americans just NFL and College. But worldwide there is far more American Football. Here AF is becoming bigger and bigger every year. 2011 there will be the WC here and this might boost its popularity even more. And the Vikings are my local team, so it is just logical.
NHL - Sabres - Like with the NFL, for most of the time I never got a fav until recently. With the Sabres it is one player as well. Namely Vanek. Just because of him, there is much more coverage about the NHL here in TV. There are some other Austrian players, but noone from them is as popular and as good as he is.

NFL: Texans, Packers
NBA: Rockets, Thunder, Hornets, Heat (really, I just like Dwayne Wade), Kings, Clippers
Soccer: I really just watch the World Cup and the Euro.

NCAAF: UH, Oregon State, Texas
NCAAB: Texas, Kansas, UH

I really have no reason to root for any of these teams other than the Houston teams, haha. I like them a lot though.

NFL, MLB, NBA: All Cleveland teams (my hometown).

NFL: St. Louis Rams -- When the Browns didn't have a team for a while I latched onto this team, probably because they were one of the best at the time and I remembered Kurt Warner from the AFL.

MLB: Atlanta Braves -- Before I was into baseball my great aunt and uncle were really into the Braves and I would watch games with them a lot so I eventually became a fan.

NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins -- Since Cleveland doesn't have a team (and this was before the Columbus Blue Jackets existed) and the Penguins were the closest non-Michigan team, not to mention penguins in general are just awesome.

all hometown teams, was a fan of the Flyers before Atlanta got a team, and my AFC team for football is the Chiefs because I lived in KC for awhile when I was younger.

MLB: Red Sox and Mariners, grew up in Seattle until I was 11, then moved to Boston. I'm usually Red Sox first, but with it probably being Griffey's last year and his last opportunity to win a ring, plus the fact that mlb.tv exists, I'll probably have the Mariners no. 1 this year, though I know far more about the Red Sox players/prospects. Also, my father grew up in Connecticut/Boston and was a Red Sox camera man back in the 60s, so I've always had a rooting interest in the Sox as well. As far as an NL team goes, I'd say Giants, my English grandmother was a huge Willie Mays/Giants fan, so I kind of grew up on that too.

NFL: Patriots, then farther down the line the Seahawks. Once again, because of my father growing up here I always had a rooting interest in the Patriots, plus when they drafted Bledsoe and Milloy I had that connection as well. I loved the Seahawks growing up, but it's kind of strange what a change in uniform can do for a fan whose moved away cause it really starts to feel like you're cheering for a different team when the players and the uniform are different. That being said, I'd love to see the Seahawks win a Super Bowl and I'll always have them as an NFC team.

NBA: Celtics and that's it cause the Sonics are gone. I actually took a pretty big break from basketball for a while, but really got into the Celtics back in 04 and 05 cause Mike Ford was a huge fan and I was living with him at the time. I loved Pierce and all the young guys on the team and it stuck. I still think I probably watched way more games in 04, 05 and 06 than I did in 07/08.

NHL: Growing up in Seattle I never found a team, for a while I liked the Avs, Canucks, Mighty Ducks and Sharks but none of them ever stuck. I follow the Bruins to some extent, but I've never been a huge hockey guy.

NCAA: Washington Huskies, no other teams here, no one is interested in college sports in Boston other than Hockey and I grew up on the 1991 Huskies Championship team. I'd say Huskies football is probably my third favorite team of all sports. In college football or basketball I'll latch onto a certain player for a few years, but that doesn't really carry over once that guy's gone.

NFL: Panthers - First football game I went to was Panthers-Redskins at Ericsson (now Bank of America) Stadium and I've been a fan since then. I root for the Ravens, too since they're the local teams and I've been to a few of their games.

NBA: I'm just a casual NBA fan and I don't follow a team but I loved the Bulls when I was a kid. I like watching the Hawks now.

NHL: Capitals - My dad took me to a Capitals-Kings game when I was 6 or 7 and they're the local team here so I've been a fan since then. Predators - Started watching more of their games around last year and adopted them as my West team this year.

MLB: Orioles and Nationals - Been a fan of the O's for as long as I can remember and I started rooting for the Nationals when they moved here.

NCAA: Navy and UVA. Not a huge fan of either but I always hope they do well. I used to love going to Navy football and basketball games.

NBA: Don't care.
NCAAB: UConn- I'm from Connecticut.

NFL: Bills - When I got into football they were the team my friends all liked
NBA: Raptors - home team
NHL: Leafs - dad's favourite team, home team, have/will love them forever
Sharks - liked them when I was a kid for a bit, but nothing compares to the Leafs
MLB: Blue Jays - again, my home team, watched when they won the two titles in the 90's
Rockies - not really sure why I like them, had Larry Walker a Canadian, played against the Red Sox in the World Series so I was
cheering for them.

Other:

AHL: Toronto Marlies - Leafs' minor league team. A LOT easier to get tickets to than the Leafs
OHL: Oshawa Generals - good junior league hockey close to home

NFL: Jaguars- they were a new, local team when I was just getting into pro sports. So essentially, they're the team I grew up with.

MLB: AL: Rays- same reason as Jaguars. My hometown is pretty much right between tampa and jacksonville.
NL: Braves- grew up watching them on TBS. also, my grandpa was a huge fan, so it rubbed off on me.

NFL: NY Giants, because my father is a Giants fan and it's how I grew up
NBA: NY Knicks, because I live in New York and nobody in my family watches basketball besides me
NHL: NY Rangers, because my uncle has had season tickets forever and since I'm a kid I've been going to games, so I became a huge fan
MLB: NY Mets, because my my grandfather and my uncles were all Mets fans and my dad was a Yankee fan, and for some reason I didn't want to be a Yankee fan

NFL: bears because of dad. i was remember the first thing my dad telling me was that the packers are bad people haha.

NBA: growing up in the 90's, it was impossible to not be a bulls fan. sure they sucked since jordan left and well into the early 00's but they've been rather exciting (for the most part) since then.

NHL: blackhawks. i admit, i just got into hockey around 07 because the hawks were finally going somewhere. before the 08-09 season, games weren't aired on tv and they were just plain shitty so there was no reason to follow them.

MLB: white sox. im a white sox fan because also of my dad. i can remember him taking me to games at comiskey II when it was shitty and before it was renovated. i just fell in love with the team mainly because of frank thomas and robin ventura. phillies. i started following them around 2004 because they reminded me of the white sox. great offense, so-so pitching and always finishing 2nd or 3rd in the divsion. i always make sure to watch them when they come to chicago to play the cubs.

NHL: penguins - saw a hockey game on tv when i was in florida when i was younger, liked it, found out there was a team called the penguins (my favorite animal) so i started following them and admired tom barrasso because i was a goalie in soccer growing up. i also follow/root for the hawks and thrashers.

NFL: Broncos, hometown team and whole family watches them and have been my whole life.

MLB: Rockies for the little bit that I follow baseball. Also, since I live in NH now I'm kind of forced to follow the Red Sox.

NBA: Don't really follow basketball but I root for the Nuggets just because they're the hometown team.

NHL: Avs, Bruins, and Devils. Avs because they're the hometown team and I've been following them since they arrived in Denver. Bruins because they've had some of my favorite players of all time play for them and now that I live out East it's much easier to watch their games. Not really sure why I like the Devils but I think it has to do with them being a former Colorado team and I love Scott Stevens and Marty Brodeur.

NCAAF: Don't really follow college football at all but I root for the University of Colorado.

NCAAH: University of Denver. Before the Avs came to town they were the only hockey to watch and my parents took me to games starting when I was 2 or 3 years old. Since then, I've had friends and coaches that played there so that makes it even easier to cheer for them. Lately, I've been following UNH some more since I live out here and my roommate in college is a huge fan of theirs.

NFL: Jets. first game i went to was jets-houston oilers in 96. sat right behind the bench. if i had gone to the giants game a week before, i'd probably be a giants fan.

NBA: Nets. only they're the home state team

NHL: Devils. first sport i remember watching on tv. devils-rangers series in 94. one of my earliest memories in general. devils lost that series but i stuck with the home state team. ended up winning the next year.

MLB: Yankees. went to a game when i was 10. not a huge yankees fan but they'd be my team, i guess.

Boxing: manny pacquiao. probably my favorite athlete in general. i'm from the philippines. i've had the pleasure of watching him fight live twice and even go to church with him. one of the nicest people i've ever met.

It's on it's way, both Old Firm teams need more money, here in Ireland (and Britain as well) the SPL has started being on broadcast on Sky Sports, which is the right move, it being the biggest sports channel.

What Americans are Old Firm players? Mo Edu?

And I'm aware of the great SPL history, even recent history but the quality has definitely dipped

MLB - Astros, dad took me to stros games since i was little
NFL - Titans, dad took me to oilers games since i was little and i kept following them once they moved
NBA - Mavs, dad was a spurs fan, but we never really went to any games so i never had an attachment to them. Took interest in the mavs after reading an article in SI about dirk and Mark Cuban during Dirk's rookie year in 98, followed them since then despite having two basketball teams closer in proximity to me.

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs
- Was preached the greatness of Joe Montana from an early age(having grown up on ND football) and he was traded to Kansas City around the time I was first getting into the NFL.
NBA: Boston Celtics
- My dad was a big Cs fan in the '80s. I don't know of another athlete to this day that he's loved more than Bird. Rubbed off on me.
MLB: New York Mets
- Another team my father passed on to me. He says he put my crib in front of the TV so I could watch every game of the '86 series with him.
Soccer: Liverpool
- Started getting into soccer around 2000 or so and Michael Owen cemented himself as my favorite player, which led to me following LFC on a regular basis.
NCAAF: Notre Dame + UConn
- Grew up on ND football. There wasn't a ton of great college football worth gravitating towards in the northeast at the time and UConn's program was in 1-AA when I was growing up.
NCAAB: UConn
- It's sacrilege to live in Connecticut and not be a Husky fan. They're basically the closest thing we have to a pro sports franchise. Some of my earliest sports memories are from the early to mid 90s teams with guys like Burrell, Ollie, Allen, Scheffer, the Marshalls, Brian Fair, Travis Knight, etc.

I liked his style of play when he played in Liverpool and following EPL soccer is casual enough for me where there are no team loyalties (although I realize how against the grain that is and Liverpool and Man United have a good rivalry going).

the soccer just isnt as much fun to watch. Premiere league has much better competition. The players grow up playing soccer. I mean so do kids in the US but it just doesnt seem like we grow em like england and other european countries do. Champions league and the Premiere league are jsut more fun to watch than the MLS. Better competition like i said and better players. The MLS needs better players for me to be interested in watching it. The betters players would lead in increased levels in play but it just seems like its not happening. I am not saying there arent good players playing in the MLS, it just seems like a lot of them are not at the level english players play at.

i think the skill level is a bit different. not better or worse, more just different style of play. if the MLS had a better fan base, then i'd totally be more into it. but when i go to LA Galaxy games (and will be a philadelphia union fan too when they start playing at home), they don't even sell out the Home Depot Center (capacity about 27,000). if they sell out those games, even the feel would be different. but like i said, its picking up and the feeling around America is better. the sentiment towards soccer is improving, and i think the support for this world cup will be incredible.

also, the better players thing? the mls has some players from around the world... remember when they brought freddy ljundberg to the sounders? and juan pablo angel over to DC united? ha. there are only so many big name players that would be willing to come to the MLS. but with landycakes going to play for the toffies, and becks still being loaned out, maybe other players will come here and not have to forcefully end their careers.

i agree with you. If the fan base was better then the games would be more fun. thsi world cup is going to be amazing. I think it will draw in more fans but it could also do the same thing it does every 4 years. The interest will be huge after the world cup for a few months and then die off again. I hope it doesnt but we will see.

I remember those players coming over. But in my opinion not many big name players are going to want to come over to the US to play in a league that doesnt have the competition of a premiere league or other european leagues. I think the sports growing in the US but at a very slow pace.

I am not saying there arent good players playing in the MLS, it just seems like a lot of them are not at the level english players play at.
i think when people say the "premier league", they're really kind of talking about manchester united/chelsea/ etc. and not so much bolton, wolverhampton, wigan, etc. to be fair, mls has only just started, while in england it's by far and away the number one sport and has been for over 100 years. of course the culture is gonna be better-tuned for football in england than in the u.s. but with that said...

i think the skill level is a bit different. not better or worse, more just different style of play. if the MLS had a better fan base, then i'd totally be more into it. but when i go to LA Galaxy games (and will be a philadelphia union fan too when they start playing at home), they don't even sell out the Home Depot Center (capacity about 27,000). if they sell out those games, even the feel would be different. but like i said, its picking up and the feeling around America is better. the sentiment towards soccer is improving, and i think the support for this world cup will be incredible.

also, the better players thing? the mls has some players from around the world... remember when they brought freddy ljundberg to the sounders? and juan pablo angel over to DC united? ha. there are only so many big name players that would be willing to come to the MLS. but with landycakes going to play for the toffies, and becks still being loaned out, maybe other players will come here and not have to forcefully end their careers.
mls has been getting better and better. these things take time. i know when you try and compare mls to other leagues/teams like spain and whatever, it's hard to compare. but it's not really a fair comparison, considering soccer in general is like the 4th most favorite sport or whatever in the u.s. but with more supporters, the league would get better faster than it already has been. people who don't like mls will not support it because it's not good enough, but they either will find any excuse to not watch it or will just have to wait another 10-20 years before it is "good enough" for them. i actually think mls is pretty good, but that's just me. i'm confident that, with the way the sport is growing, it'll be another decade or so before it's really hit the big time (relatively speaking). i mean, look at where the league was 10 years ago and imagine how it'll be in another 10.

NFL: Eagles. Hometown team.
NBA: Oklahoma City. Huge fan of Kevin Durant, Green, and Westbrook.
NHL: Flyers. hometown team.
MLB: Phillies, hometown. Follow the red sox. #2 team, but becoming less of a fan due to all the New England kids around me. Annoying as hell
Soccer: Barcelona. Went to a Barcelona game a couple years back when visiting spain and just have been following them ever since.

NCAAF: Michigan. When I was young I loved their uniforms and just followed them ever since.
NCAAB: Duke. Coach K.

i like all your choices except duke. kevin durant is a baller, too bad andre iguodala isn't on a better team.... ugh

I dont think it will ever be as big as it is everywhere else in the world. The US already has americas pastime the MLB, the NFL which will always be the best sport in my opinion, the NBA, the NHL which is making a comeback after the lockout, and Nascar which is huge even though i still dont understand why unless you see it live (which is so much fun). In no way am i saying there is no room for soccer to get huge in the US i just dont see it happening anytime soon.

Honestly I think Iggy is an above average player, but isnt a superstar that is able to carry a team. I am hoping thaddeus young can do that for the sixers, Id like to be able to watch them again, they are just so bad right now its boring.

yeah i can't watch them. they've got talent... they've played well every game against the cavs and the magic (though they don't have a win yet). i wish they were better, like when we had eric snow, aaron mckie, and theo ratliff.

of course it'll take some time. it's only been around for 15 years. the nhl is on its 90 somethingth season. it took until the 80s for the nba to become a huge nationally-followed sport, and its competition wasn't anywhere near like what mls has in other soccer leagues. i think people are a bit too impatient. how exactly is mls supposed to be as good as the epl in so little time? it's ridiculous.

Fuck you for that NFL comment. I hate you, and I hate Scott Norwood.

NFL: Bills, because I like to be punished by an invalid, decrepit, senile old owner.
NHL: Sabres, hometown team
NBA: Bobcats, always liked the Hornets in Charlotte, then the Bobcats had some of my favorite NCAA players when they started up
MLB: Braves, when I grew up we didn't have YES or Sportsnet or any of that, so I learned a lot about baseball from watching the Braves on TBS for like, 150 games a season
NCAAB: Syracuse, closest relevant program to home, also Niagara, as the campus is like 5 miles from my house
NCAAF: Buffalo, hometown team, and Texas, love the colors, been following them since the Major Applewhite/Chris Simms days

NBA: Not a big basketball fan, but I'll be a homer and say the Hawks.

NCAA Baseball: Same as above. Can't believe they lost to Kennesaw State yesterday..:-(

NCAA - Uconn
NCAA XC - Marist

I grew up and currently still live 10 minutes from Uconn's campus and I ran for Marist.

MLB - Mets
NFL - Giants
NBA - Celtics

First two are because of my Dad, he's from Jersey so I just grew up as a Met and Giant fan. I'm not a big NBA fan and I usually just follow the Uconn players but a friend of mine is a big Celtics fan so I started rooting for them, also I'm only an hour from Boston and they have Ray Allen.

And one of these days the Whale is coming back to Hartford and I can put NHL up there.

Because I was a Packers fan when Favre was there, and the Falcons were the first team to ever beat them at Lambeau in the playoffs or something..haha. NHL: Detroit Red Wings
MLB: Milwaukee Brewers
Soccer: Liverpool and Germany

NCAAF: Wisconsin Badgers
NCAAB: Wisconsin Badgers UW-Milwaukee Panthers
NCAAH: Wisconsin Badgers.

Most of them are pretty obvious seeing as I've grown up in Madison. I'm a Panther fan as well in basketball due to the fact I'm going there for college and I like having a team to root for besides the Badgers, I hate Marquette with a passion. The Red Wings were the first hockey team I knew about so I became a fan of them, I don't regret it either. I played soccer in elementary school and I remember going to some soccer convention and seeing a bunch of guys wearing Liverpool jerseys, so I suppose I adopted them as a favorite of mine because of that. I also root for the German national team because my ancestors are, mostly, from Germany and I identify with as someone of a strong German heritage therefore liking the Germans more than the US team.

NFL: Seahawks because I live in Washington and grew up watching them and stuff.
NBA: Eh, Oklahoma City because they're the Sonics and because of Kyle Weaver. Rockets because I loved T-Mac as a kid, even though he's not on the team anymore. I don't follow NBA at all though.
NHL: Washington Capitals because when I kind of band wagoned on to Alex Ovechkin/I didn't like Sidney Crosby when I was younger. Also, Ovechkin was exciting to watch after the lockout and kind of forgetting about hockey when I wasn't a real follower of the sport.
MLB: Seattle Mariners because I'm from Washington, grew up watching them, first MLB game was in the Kingdome, etc.
Soccer: USA because fuck yeah America and the Sounders just because I'm from Washington. Not a huge soccer guy at all though.
NCAAF: Washington State because I was raised that way from parents who graduated from there.
NCAAB: Washington State (see above), Gonzaga because I grew up in central Washington and WSU was shitty and never on TV because of the Sonics making the Zags the team I grew up watching. Also, a very casual following of Maryland because we went there for a week or so for a couple of summers when I was like 10-12 and I just kind of like them.

NHL: None at the moment, but have been a Canucks fan for a few years. This is my favorite sport to watch but I haven't really found a team I can truly appreciate being a fan of. Hopefully that'll change after I watch the playoffs.
MLB: Seattle Mariners. Hometown team.

NCAAF: Washington Huskies. I'm loving how Sark and Locker are revitalizing this team after that horrendous 2008 season.

Celtic are a British team. Celtic are from the Britain.Formed in Britain, play in Britain, mainly British fan base, have always paid taxes to the queen = British club. They can have as many tri colours as they want at matches, they are and always will be a British club. End of.You can sugar coat it all you want and Celtic fans can sing the fields or athenry til their faces turn blue,it wont change where they're from.(I love the irony of a British club singing that song btw) Amazing that you say you support a team because they're "almost Irish" yet you trash the League of Ireland. Your patriotic views are hazed it would seem.

Celtic were formally founded in St. Mary's Church Hall on East Rose Street (now Forbes Street), Calton, Glasgow. British club.
I never denied that Celtic are British, I just said paying taxes to the Crown doesn't make them British. The fact that they're Scottish, unfortunately for Scotland makes them British. The majority of Celtic (including me) fans have the same political ideaologies, freedom from England. Whether it's freedom for Scotland or Ireland. Saying I support them because they're basically Irish was stupid and not thought out properly, I'm switching to "They represent my ideaology". Also, my patriotism isn't affected by my thoughts on the League of Ireland, because I only like good soccer and I'm from Kilkenny anyway, I'm mainly about hurling and we have no soccer team.

NFL: Bengals. Born and raised in Cincy so it kind of happened. It hasn't been easy, but things are looking kind of bright. Mike Brown is nothing like his father, and I hate him (I think that goes without saying, but I felt the need to add it).
NCCA: UC. Dad is an alum. My sister is currently enrolled, and I'll be attending this fall. Plus, I grew up watching UC basketball.
NCCAB: XU. I grew up watching the crosstown shootout, and the women's team was incredible under Melanie Balcomb.
NHL: I just started watching this year so I don't really have a favorite team. I was kind of rooting for the Sabres because I think Ryan Miller is awesome.
MLB: Reds. Don't really follow baseball, but I do like to root for the hometown team.
ECHL: Cyclones. Again I don't really follow, but they're the hometown team so it's an easy way to watch hockey live.

09-10 has been a pretty good group of seasons for Cincy sports which is oddly surprising and doesn't happen often.

NFL: Giants. Just started following them the season they won the Superbowl, stuck with them ever since.
MLB : Texas Rangers. Girlfriend's dad is a big fan, watched nearly all of their matches since I've been in Texas.
Football/Soccer: Ipswich Town. Play in the Championship (2nd tier) of the English league system, home town team. Outside of them I like to watch Arsenal play.

NFL: Seahawks. Hometown team, and the stadium atmosphere is insane.
MLB: Mariners. Hometown team, lovable losers.
NBA: Portland. Love McMillan, love Roy, love the organization. Don't really follow NBA too much though.
NHL: LA Kings. Young team, exciting to watch. Was a Canucks fan but I found myself rooting for the Kings during their playoff series a few months ago. :P
Soccer: Seattle Sounders because they're local, and Netherlands since its my ancestors' home nation..
NCAAB: Duke. Been a fan since I was 7, the only team I support that regularly dominates.
NCAAF: Washington Huskies, home town.

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars. I was young when they came into the league, and everyone else in my family rooted for the Dolphins. I guess I wanted to be different. I do occasionally root for Dolphins still however. I do not like the Bucs, probably the only Florida team I dislike (in any sport)

NBA: Miami Heat. They are a home state team, and I liked their uniforms so I became a fan. I also do root for the Orlando Magic, but not as much.

MLB: Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. Both are home state teams. Both were (for the most part) lovable losers. So, I pulled for them to do better.

I watch NCAA football, baseball and basketball but I don't really root for any team. I like to see Florida teams do well, but I couldn't call myself a fan of any.

Kildare.I believe we've discussed it once before but my roommate and his girlfriend's families both come from Kildare, and she had a Kildare Gaelic football shirt that I thought was pretty awesome. That coupled with our shared love for Blackburn Rovers means that we are destined to be best friends forever.

That's the current county jersey by the way... in case she had one of the older ones. 'Twould be worth a purchase. I got a few free Kildare jersey's myself over the years from players around the area. I actually went to secondary school/played school football with the guy in the photo. That's my shinfo for the day ha.

NFL: Cowboys (but I don't really follow football)
NHL: Canadien. Home team and they're very big here in Quebec. I grew up watching them.
Soccer: Montreal Impact. Home team and they're pretty good.
