Still in love with this album, I've listened to it about 10 or 11 times this week and I just can't get over how good it is. A lot of people hate how far back in the mix the guitars are, but I am really into the wall of sound production they went with, with the drums and bass at the forefront of the mix. It sounds awesome on good headphones, and with really bass-y speakers. It's sad that this will probably their last album, but Daughters have always been a band on the verge of chaos. Oh and this record really does have a serious Young Widows vibe. I wonder if touring with them so much rubbed off on Daughters a little bit?

Yup new Dillinger is awesome also. I hate the trend of people hating new music, it seems that fans think they are only allowed to like the first one or two albums so they can keep their cred or whatever. People seem to think that any sort of progression or change is a negative. I've just noticed that in reading people's thoughts on different websites about this album. It's rare I don't get stoked on a new release by a band I like. Although I'm not digging the new Against Me! as much as I loved New Wave. Starting to get off topic....

I was more or less referring to discussion on the last.fm Daughters page. And I don't understand what makes new Dillinger so terrible? Yeah, it's not the same lineup from fucking 1999, but they've had the same 3 core members since 2001. And I have no pretensions whatsoever, I just don't understand what makes it so bad. Just because it's not straight up mathcore like Calculating Infinity? And Lex's opinion is the opinion of one person - Lex didn't write any of the music on the album. Why does it matter if he said it would suck because people would like it? He also probably said that because it's probably pretty bitter between him and Nick, the guitar player who wrote it and then left to do Fang Island. Seriously dude. Is it so weird that someone can just not like new music a band puts out but still "fucking get change"? My Bloody Valentine changed a ton between their two albums, I like them both. does that count? I don't see why someone has to mindlessly love a bands' catalog just because they happened to like a few releases.

Most of what you like is terrible. I don't have last.fm because i don't feel like broadcasting my listening habits to the world but I'll just point out that if I did have one, right now it'd be shitty shoegaze, kanye west, crass and lady gaga. You can tell me those suck, but it really wouldn't matter.

I think they still have the guy from Heads Will Roll though (lol) but I'm pretty sure its just the bass player and the singer as the longest tenured members now.

Anyway, this is all second hand information to me...so I don't know verbatim what was said...but here is what REALLY happened in Covington that day:

-The line up was, in order: Russian Circles, Lords, Since By Man and Daughters.

-There were about 15 people in attendance.

-I had had a really shitty day, the details of which are interesting but irrelevant to this story. Alexis, the singer from daughters, was also not enjoying himself for a variety of reasons.

- Before the Daughters set Alexis asked me to do something fucked up to him while they were playing....I ask him if I can pee on him, he says "yeah, just piss in my hands".

- At some part of one of their songs when Alexis doesn't sing I get up on stage, pull my dick out, Alexis gets on his knees and cups his hands...then I piss in his hands....Alexis then proceeds to throw the piss accumulating in his hands on the audience...

- about 10 or so of the maybe 15 people watching run out of the way...but a hand full of teenage boys up front are in to it and cheer on.

You're so misinformed it's ridiculous. The drummer is 25 and the rhythm guitar player is in his late twenties or early thirties. Neither of them are from shitty metalcore bands. They've always had the same lead guitarist since 1997, the bassist has been in the band since around 2000, same singer since 2001 (Greg was in the band when the Irony EP was recorded, he just didnt participate in the recording). The rhythm guitarist, who's parts are written for him by original member Ben, has changed like 3 times, and they've had a different drummer on every album since Miss Machine. But they've had 3 of the 5 guys in the band for 9/10 years. And the bassist is from Starkweather and the rhythm guitarist is from Heads Will Roll, neither of which are shitty metalcore bands (to my knowledge).

Drummers do not make or break a band. Yeah, he's no Chris Pennie but he's well up to par with Gil Sharone. If you've listened to Option Paralysis he obviously doesn't suck, regardless of where he stands up to their past drummers.

Fact of the matter is what you posted was ignorant and now you're back tracking. People like to talk about how many lineup changes this band has had, but they've had the same lead guitarist, singer, and bassist for a decade.

Also as far as heavy music goes, these guys blow pretty much everything out of the water. Show me a similar band that is better than these guys (and don't say Botch or Converge).
