When are they going to start promoting this record?
as long as ikey owens is still in the band, its all good. because, honestly, hes the only one that matters.

That is horrible. Jon Theodore is so goddamn talented!
I'm clearly upset, I hope this isnt permanent.

Blake is a sweet drummer (check out Laddio Bolocko) but he has pretty big shoes to fill (technically, I'd say he's about as good as Jon, but I have no idea if he can even come close to Jon's mad improvisatory skills).

Plus he has to have the stamina to last more than three hours at a time.

what a stupid thing to say.
your statement should read "As long as CEDRIC AND OMAR are still in the band"
the other guys are talneted, but in this band Omar is the mastermind

Unlike some bands, I would presume Omar and Cedric would definitely find a more than qualified replacement for Jon Theodore.
I don't see this band hiring any "hacks"
Should be interesting to see where Jon winds up next. I don't think he'll have any problems getting studio work waaaay above scale.

man, i was hoping Jon would be here for the Chicago show. i guess i won't be seeing him.
this guy's no amateur. the move upsets many but as wikipedia states:
Blake Flemming started drumming at age 8, and spent several years in fife and drumming corps, bagpipe bands, jazz bands, orchestras, etc. His first band was Dazzling Killmen, which he joined at age 15. Later he played with the Japanese prog-punk band Zeni Geva. He then moved from St. Louis to NYC and formed the instrumental band Laddio Bolocko. After breaking up Laddio, he moved to LA and helped start the Mars Volta in 2001, but left after only recording a handful of demos. He then returned to NYC to form Electric Turn To Me, which in turn broke up in 2006. He rejoined The Mars Volta after former drummer Jon Theodore's departure on July 28th, 2006.

i'm gonna trust the mars volta with that decision. though its still curious why jon theodore would be dropped like that.

woah woah woah, this is ridiculous, he was amazing and one of the best parts of this band. I was JUST listening to frances the mute in awe even though I got it over a year ago just because of jon theodore. Terrible terrible move.
this is definitely not good

I'm very confused. Did he really leave the band or is just "in leave" because of problems at home or whatever. Cuz Jon is the shiz. He's one of my favorite drummers

Amputechture is a fucking killer album and this new drummer sounds fucking solid.....you can almost here the reserection of At the Drive In on some of the songs... especially track 2....but Cedrics usage of a high pitched voice gets just a little annoying....but just a little.....get this record
