i had to see what people think about them. getting chara, and a bunch of young players seems a lot like what happened to the Ducks last year, and they had a good run. but still, trading thornton was a dick move. they need a great season to get fanbase back.

yeah, cause that'll sure be an objective analysis

although i do my best to hide it, i am a big bruins fan. The ownership is terrible, no doubt about it, and fans have every right to wonder if they give two shits about winning ...but the product on the ice next season is something to look forward to. They wont contend for the Cup, but they could be a playoff team. This offseason was at least a step in the right direction ...whether or not they continue in that direction remains to be seen.

they will be a playoff team this year. They have a top 5 defense in the league and are solid in net with Toivonen (i know he hasnt really proven anything, but i think he will be better than fine based on what hes shown). The offense is the real question mark that will determine how the season goes. The first line is solid with Bergeron, Boyes and and probably sturm. The second is where the questions will be. Was Savard worth it and will he be able to set up Murray so he retunrs to the 35+ goal scorer that he used to be, or was Savard that good because of who he played with. Its also still not know what Kessel is doing, whether he is going back to Minnesota or if he will be in boston.

I don't think they'll be a playoff team for about 2 years, there's no way they turn it around in just one season.

call me when they get a goalie

and when they sell the team.

and when harry sinden is burned alive on the common.

this team doesn't deserve fans.

oh okay, so someone who played what, 20 games last season is suddenly the answer to all the problems?

ill hold my breath on that one.

There was an article the other day about how they are blatantly following the Sabres model.

yep, he played very good in all those games before he broke his ankle. Is one of the top Finnish goalie prospects and is extremely quick and athletic.

it will be an improvement, but i seriously doubt the bruins will make the playoffs.

I think the pengiuns will make the playoffs before the bruins, but I may be a bit honest. I'd guess though Bruins and Pens finish 9th and 10th, respectively.

All this goalie talk about Toivonen, Thomas was tops in goaltending stats for the games he played with them, which was a fair amount of games. They've got a pretty stable situation in net with that rotation I'd say. As long as they can get good offense going I think they'll be a contender this year. But from what I've heard from Boston residents here and in sports news what I have about their ownership and management problems, it'll be awhile before they get their whole fanbase back.

the bruins will finish no better than 4th in the northeast division...do you honestly think they'll oust the sabres, sens or the canadians? no...

Canadiens have an interesting situation in net....Yann Danis is young and promising, Cristobal Huet was last season's feel good story, and then there's Aebischer.

I think they'll do about what they did last season if not a few points better cause they won't have the Theodore cancer around.

only if pittsburgh somehows finds a defense, and depending on if Malkin comes over or not

He's not the answer for their future but if he can match what he did while "filling in" for a few more seasons they'll have a chance.

umm...he wont be playing for a few seasons. Toivonen is the goalie of the future and will be the starter next year.

Boyes has resigned for 2 years, now they need to hurry up and get Bergeron signed

people like to look past this though and just claim they are a mess because of poor ownership/

the product they are putting on the ice next season is a big improvement over this past year's. Give them all the shit you want, and much of it is deserved, but they have drafted very well. There is a lot of young talen to accompany some of the new vets like Chara and Savard.

theyre amateur scouting is excellent, one of the best in the leagues and now the finally have a gm who knows what he is doing and has some sort of plan unlike O'Connell. I expect the Bruins to make the playoffs this year and be contenders for the cup in 3-4 years

chara and savard, ok. where are the finishers? bergeron? you need him to set up your offense, and he'll do that, but their lack of depth is going to hurt them (see: losing games to opposing teams' checking lines)...you just need more scoring. the D looks OK but Savard alone will not create that kind of offense.

brad boyes and glen murray say hi. Boyes is only gonna improve upon last year, and i fully expect him and Bergeron to be awesome together. Savard was signed to set up Murray and hopefully have him return to another 35+ goal season. Boyes is going to contribute greatly to the offense, Murray hopefully will also. Theres also the chance that Kessel can also possibly step in and contribute right away, a 20 goal season from him isnt completely unrealistic to hope for

kessel was a great draft pick but he's not NHL ready. i give him another year. as far as everything else you said, we'll see. it's a tough division, having to see buff and ottawa 8x a year.
