I&G's shit just came out
It's better than I expected, scene as fuckkk but still decent. The last two tracks are pretty interesting to say the least.
'Viola Lion' is pretty cool w/Jonny, 'Cemetery Weather' has a great electronic 7/8 feel
however Craig and Vic's voices remain overly exaggerated and incessantly whiny to me

TSOAF wins easily, i would die for a 4th release from them.

Well my answer is going to be biased, seeing as how I love The Sound of Animals Fighting and don't listen to Isles & Glaciers. However I did check out some Isles & Glacier tracks and I can confidently say that there is no way they would ever beat The Sound of Animals Fighting in my book.

The Ocean and the Sun is such a fantastic album.

I never was really into TSOAF, but I love anything Craig Owens is a part of.
Isles & Glaciers is okay and I like it, but I think Johnny Craigs voice isn't that great with the music.

Isles & Glaciers doesn't contain a member from RX Bandits. TSOAF wins by default.

I could never get into The Sounds Of Animals Fighting, a little to weird for me I guess. I've only listened through Isles and Glaciers ep once, but it is much better than I had anticipated.

the isles and glaciers ep is number 18 on itunes which completely blows my mind

The first song Isles and Glaciers put out was really good and I had high hopes but the rest of the album disappointed me.

This is kind of a moot argument anyway, as tSoAF has way more material out. They win it for sure.

I like both but Isles & Glaciers is fresh in my mind (and ears) so I voted for them.

I chose Isles & Glaciers because I love Jonny Craig and he fits great with Craig Owens and Vic Fuentes on vocals

I gave the I&G ep a spin just now. Nearly unlistenable. Only thing I found myself listening for was the subtle programming shit that screams BRIAN SOUTHALL.

Get a better gig, Brian. You're better than this.

Isles & Glaciers for me, even though I like both. TSOAF has more music and I think if Isles put out that much I would listen to them 1000x more than TSOAF. Although Another Leather Lung is amazing.

Isles & Glaciers. I know I'm gonna get shit for this but Anthony Green's voice has never been my cup of tea.

EDIT: The only thing I listen to by TSOAF regularly is Horses in the Sky (sung by Craig Owens) so yeah.

ask the 19 kids that voted for I&G
and i only juxtapose them because they're both EVR 'supergroups' with some similarities. i agree that TSOAF is infinitely better, but i've been around apnet long enough to know that there's little sceneys and fanboys here and there that shit their pants over I&G

truer than true.
chris tsagakis' drumming in particular was incredible live.

I&G is pretty generic, but the combination of Craig, Jonny, and Vic on vocals with Brian's electronica/programming is great. And I never really liked Craig's vocals.

TSOAF had some good songs, but they were always a little strange to me. I guess I didn't understand the imagery they were using or what exactly they were going for.

yeah. i wasn't aiming that against you. i was just expecting it to be a poll like Brand New v Brokencyde. (extreme, i know) but it should be a landslide, and people are like "i dun know the sound of w.e. but jonny craig and craig owens have high pitched vox so i goes for them. and they have awesome tats!"

i like the conjunction between jonny's vocals and heavy music. i feel it's very unique, especially w/DGD.
but yeah, TSOAF is phenomenal, experimental and has so much replay value. chasing suns alone is one of the best songs of the decade IMO.

I'm not talking about Rx Bandits. I was saying that the instrumentation in The Sound of Animals Fighting is miles better than the vocals.

Aside from Mandala, Rx Bandits doesn't really sound much like The Sound of Animals Fighting, and even that album doesn't sound that similar.

The Isles and Glaciers EP was pretty solid. I expected it to be better though.

Fuck, there used to be stuff on the wikipedia pages, but now I can't even find that, and I don't feel like doing an extensive search. Basically, Everyone would record their individual parts without knowing what the whole was supposed to sound like or what the other parts where. So, like, Anthony Green would record his vocal part unaware of how it fit into the musical whole.

Did they just record to a metronome?
I feel like that'd be odd

EDIT: from last.fm

All parts of the album Tiger and the Duke were recorded individually and each member was only able to hear the part they contributed to the album. The only member who heard the whole album during its recording process was Balling.

Well Embree produced The Ocean and the Sun, so I feel like he had to hear everything during the recording process.
Plus I don't think Balling wrote all the music.

But I don't really know. I wish more band would document their recording processes and release them as a DVD.
