Apparently there's some big signing news surrounding The Graduate (http://www.purevolume.com/thegraduate); I hear that "hip" label is close to closing a deal.

"a hip label" or "hip label"?

They still won't make this band any more than average.

i disagree. this band is one of the few bright spots in a pool of shitty unsigned music. i think they have potential to be quite big.

about a month or so ago someone in the general called fbr/decaydance... we'll see if they're right or not

I love this band. I had several chances to see all of their previous bands they were all in before the Graduate and they were all good, but combined now, they're amazing.

i have their album on order. i cant wait to get it. i love this band so much. they'd be the perfect addition to decaydance. i can definitely see them on there.

straylighthaste

I'm sure it's FBR/Island/Def Jam... they're all practically the same nowadays...

Definitly Decaydance. Dont think its Victory records cause people have been getting really feed up with Tony Brummel lately. Im honestly feed up with Victory too.

i heard that they talked to victory so im putting bets on them
Just look at their purevolume page. They have a quote about their band on there...
"The Grad is the money shot... Great things are in this band's future." - Caleb Beiermann, Fueled by Ramen
so yeah probably going to be FBR/Decaydance, though I am leaning more towards FBR.
Edit: I just listened to this bands songs on Myspace and Purevolume and I wasn't very impressed. To each his own I guess.

Yeah, there's no real ties between FBR and Island. Fall Out Boy's Island deal had nothing to do with Fueled By Ramen.

I can see FBR as a nice fit. This band has serious potential.

They also have a quote from The Forecast and The Junior Varsity too so they probably signed to Victory.
Cause that makes...all sorts of sense...

i've heard from someone close to the band about a month ago that it's looking like fbr. let's see if they were right

the grad is better than many of the bands out there that are already signed. they should have been signed long ago :]

Yea, It's FBR/Atlantic these days. That FOB and Island thing was atypical.

definitely FBR or Victory

This band is so overrated...all the local scenies love them.
(This isn't a shot at the band at all, just a general statement.)

its not any label anyone has heard of. its a new label and its the labels first signing. they allready turned down drive thru and its not fbr/decaydance or victory or island or atlantic. this label will be a bigger label. its veterans of other big labels starting a new label. i believe its icon records or somethign of that sort.
i disagree. this band is one of the few bright spots in a pool of shitty unsigned music. i think they have potential to be quite big.
they only have potential to be big because they sound exactly like every other band out there. Of course people will like it.

please tell me how they sound like every other band and what other bands they sound like. im intrigued. i personally think they have a very distinct sound and no other band uses delay quite like them. their guitar tone alone is more original than "every other band".

i love this band deeply.
corey's voice was awesome when i saw them live a few weekends ago.

At what point does a label stop signing so many bands? I mean don't alot of them get lost in the shuffle? Like Spitalfield for instance, Victory doesn't promote them as much as say HH. I feel like at this point, if FBR keeps signing bands, some great ones are going to get lost.
