Crow was an oustanding album. Musically their best effort.

And the title for their new album kicks ass

i dont know....i was so dissapointed with their last album...."make yourself" made incubus my favorite band for a while but "crow left of the murder" really ruined this band for me.

....by the way...whatever happened to incubus's brother audiovent.

Hmm... I'll definitely have to see about this one... So far, their mainstream efforts have been great music, but I'm apprehensive about this one for some reason. The one thing I found wrong with "Crow" was that it was more of a rock effort than the chill rock they perfected on their other albums... New album name is sick and I can't wait to hear some of their new stuff.

Ditto, but since that won't happen, this will have to do.

DUDE! You guys should get their old stuff; 'S.C.I.E.N.C.E.' IS THEIR BEST STUFF! Even 'Fungus Amonugus'. Then comes 'Make Yourself'.. and so on. Their stuff isn't going bad, they're just maturing as a band and becoming more, yes, I shall say, mainstream. Hopefully, though, with this latest album, they'll bring back their roots.

Incubus - Light Grenades: november 20th...who's excited?

I'm excited. The group (with the new lineup) has a few years under their belt together now, and the material should be fresh and expansive. Musically, A Crow Left of the Murder was an excellent release, but wasn't my personal favorite. From the interviews I've read with the band, it looks like Light Grenades will be an energetic mix of a new, more highly developed sound.

I'd rather not get too psyched, however, and thus will get hyped over the fact that Incubus will tour once the CD is released. Stellar.

Hopefully, though, with this latest album, they'll bring back their roots.

According to guitarist Mike Einziger, Light Grenades should contain a lot of the energy that was felt on Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. However, I do suspect that the album will be more mature lyrically and musically. Sexy.

Murder*O*Murder

They better not try and fit a genre like Lostprophets did, though... I wouldn't be too happy about that at all.

Yeah, that'd be unfortunate. They've had plenty of chances to do that though and haven't thus far, so I doubt they will now...they already have money/fame and all the girls haha. This CD should be the truth :)

Oh hell yes. Lyrically, they're progressing through their albums anyway. But, Jesus, just give me a twang from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and I will be satisfied. Mmm.

And yeah- OH MAN! Touring. Who's going to be completely broke before next year even starts? I am, I am!

Yeah, paying for concerts is motivation alone to be successful with a career haha. I'm going to AFI tonight, I can't wait! All these big bands are touring, and that costs big $. But it's worth it to see them in all their glory. Mm mm mm. <3

Definitely excited about this. Incubus are one of my all time favourite bands. I have no idea why a lot of people hate ACLOTM. It a definite grower. If you dislike it I recommend you listen to it through headphones. You can hear the phenomenal guitar work so much better. The layering on the production is incredible.

Becoming more mainstream? WTF?
Minus Fungus Amongus, all their albums have been on a major label - Sony. And not only this, Incubus have been mainstream pretty much since S.C.I.E.N.C.E. There videos are always on MTV, they have a huge success.

Be real please.

Regardless of labels and mainstream success, I've enjoyed every Incubus CD. However based on my personal tastes, I hope they entertain influences that were heard back on S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Make Yourself. It's about style. That's just me.

I didn't know that was the new album title! I'm so excited. I love every Incubus album, they're all quite different and either I loved them immediately or they grew on me. I really doubt Incubus will try to fit into a genre with the new album because they've not done that until now, and they've really got their own sound. eee i'm so excited about this! I can't wait for another tour as well.

Too many good bands releasing albums in the next few months, I'm going to be so broke.

I`ll listen. I am interested to see what musical approach they take this time around. Crow kind of dissapointed me as well. Is "Light Grenades" a political themed title? I hope they don`t preach politics too much on this cd.

Actually, I was just referring to their actual music. Not how they sell it. From, well, half of Morning View on you can't tell their music apart from any other band. They're music is getting lazier and less creative than what Incubus is fucking KNOWN for. It's just a little sad.

Used to be one of my fav bands - listened to SCIENCE, Make Yourself and Morning View heaps. ACLOTM was ok but had quite a few weaker tracks. Sick Sad Little World is still one of the best songs theyve ever made, though. (imo)

K, i saw this and just had to post something.

The reason why i respect Incubus so much - the reason why they are my fav. band - is the simple fact that they evolve. I can pick up any one song and know that it is unique, and although i may find some similarities in 3 or 4 songs, i can listen to it and hear the simple fact that it is no monotonous (spelling sucks tough shit). The fact that they have changed each album, from Science to Crow left of the Murder is amazing. Very very very very very few bands can change a style like they do, let alone be succesfull at it. The plain fact is that this comes from being good Musicians, something that a lot of people have not had the opportunity to hear in quite a long time.

I can pick up a Radiohead cd and know what it will sound like, i can pick up a Coldplay cd and know what it will sound like, green day, you name it i can hear the songs before i press play. I have always been surprised by incubus, they always have a new approach to songs and make it work and have fun doing it.
(Im not saying that those bands are bad, they are acctually very good and some of my favorites - but not for what im arguing right now)

The problem with this, and i can understand because it took me a while to grow out of it - is that today we have been conditioned to listen to this or that, not wanting change. We hear very standarized stuff with little ART in it. It took me a while to really understand and realize that music is not just entertainment - IT IS ART! A band that has brought back art is incubus in their own way, Mars Volta in their own ways.

Im seeing a few bands that are starting to meet the level of importance in the music community as Pinky Floyd and Zeppelin played many a years ago. (if you dont know those bands go kill yourself now, especially if you consider yourself a musician)

So i am personally excited to hear what they come out with - if it sounds like Science or Morning View or if it has its own twist will be great. I just hope that it follows in their previous foot steps in being just plain old good music.

It took me a while to acctually listen to music, i used to get bored if there wasnt anything "exciting" happening. Just sit down and ACTIVELY listen to an album you might not have liked that much - all the way through - it will blow your mind (unless the band sucks, then forget about it)

Sorry for the ranting - just had to get it out.

I've been a pretty steady Incubus fan since hearing S.C.I.E.N.C.E. back in 1997 as a 7th grader. After they got big with Make Yourself, I was officially in love with them, and liked Morning View less than the others, but liked it nonetheless. The last album, in my opinion, was vastly unappreciated and was just different, inspired moreso by bands like Zeppelin, Cream, Floyd, etc. If RHCP made that album, it would be alright, but Incubus' past efforts haven't given them enough leeway quite yet.

I am very excited about the new album, and think Incubus just needs to find their old sound to gain back some momentum before taking over the musical landscape again. I think they could be the next RHCP if people back off their sacks a bit and let them work their own shit out.

Rogues, Light Grenades, Anna Molly and Oil and Water are the standouts for me.

11/24/06, 04:53 PM
The more I listen to this album, the catchier it becomes.
Anna Molly is definitely one of the better tracks.
Honestly though, the first four tracks might be the four best on this album. (Quicksand, A Kiss to Send us Off, Dig, Anna Molly). Although you could throw Rogues into the mix, as well.
The song Light Grenades is kinda 80s-ish.
Incubus tried something funky with the Earth to Bella songs (and not funky like Hump De Bump by RHCP or Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting); I, personally, am not a big fan. (...yet?)

As I listen more and catch more subtleties, my opinions will for sure change, but that's my initial impression. It's a good album.*

*Any album review by me automatically has this message afterwards. This message states: That was my review of the aforementioned album. This album was not as good as Lateralus, Aenima or Americana. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the album [Light Grenades]
