So i've been writing and recording primarily for myself and sometimes allowing others to listen as well...mostly my girlfriend. I'm kind of a timid kind of person and afraid of what ppl might think thus is why i am not in a band and only let a selected few listen to my tracks. Well upon encouragement from others i've decided to let people hear my songs just to so i can hear an outside opinion on the matter, something thats not baised and not said to make me feel better than i am. With all that said, I hope someone reads this and if they do and they listen to the few songs i have, i hope you enjoy and comment on them despite how you may feel. Anyways heres links to my songs http://myspace.com/atroposmar or http://www.purevolume.com/atroposmar Thanks and i hope someone appreciates them

I used cubase to record, its not bad... i have a shitty microphone so it takes it down a bit. I got the program from my teacher... Thanks for commenting, it is very much appreciated and encouraging...
Oh and feel free to add me as a friend for those who have myspace accounts.

i know, it kind of sadens me. like people arent into up and coming bands/bands in teh makes. its all about whos already out there. and that will eventually kill music
It wasnt bad keep it up.there is one fucking note in the first song that made me curl, and i think you know which one.And in the third song it didnt sound like your guitar was tuned. You asked my opinion.Keep at it man, those are easy things to fix in my opinion

ya i hear you headclub, i listened to some bands here bc they were receiving no views or comments. I remember awhile ago when these forums would receive much attention but not much anymore...anyways thanks again for commenting and slaur thank you too...i understand theres problems with recordings but i do them out of my basement so what can you really expect, i try to do the best i can with what i have. Also, thanks for being constructive, i like honest opinions. ya the third song definitely has its recording flaws. i did that like a year ago with even worse equipment that i have now and just started recording.. i hope to think i'm getting better. Thanks again
PS.. I surprised no one has commented on my lyrics bc that's usually the appeal in my songs and headclub add me to your friend list on myspace i'm lonely
Honestly I couldnt understand the words, the vocals need to be alot louder.Im am sad that no one else really commented either, but oh well.At least you got a couple of opinions
Please dont compare it to Brand new though..

lol.. that was just to get people to listen, its like innate thing here, they hear the words brand new and they react to it, but ya about the vocals. I'm pretty self-conscience about my vocal ability, i dont find im that great and perhaps sub-consciencely thats evident in the songs. I just record my singing so people can hear the songs. anyways with that being said, i did post the lyrics so if your interested you could read them..once again thanks and appreciate the opinions
.....does anybody think my voice sounds okay, or should i just give it up

are the only people who read these people who are hoping for their band to be promoted? I left comments for some bands and they dont even respond...This Self-Promotion forum isn't very effective in promoting the bands it endeavours try to promote. It's all about them just getting heard and nothing else. Users should feel free to get more involved and listen to other bands within this forum. Why else would this be created. Not simply for exposure but for criticism and to hear opinions outside the local bias

sometimes people dont respond because they listen and they dont like it. some feel that if they dont like it, they dont want to bring you down by telling you that. but if you want comments, i can give you one. i took the time to listen and i'm not really a fan. it sounds like you went into something like anvil studio and made some midi files and went with them. i also am not a fan of the vocals. but keep trying none the less.

i understand and yes some are midi files lol...my comp crashed before i could replace them with an actual instrument and yes i i acknowledge the fact that the recording isnt very good but suffice to say what do you want for free. Ya i'm not much of a fan of my voice either, but i just do it to get opinions of my music as a whole with lyrics intact...I don't mind negative comments because it is criticism and criticism can be helpful towards improving the music as long as it is constructive. I dont think users should hold back from expressing their views bc it only hurts the progression of the band...Anyways thank you for responding i appreciate much

I wish a third of the people who viewed this thread would leave a comment....wow either there are not many members anymore or people just don't care about rising artists and i'm not talking about my band. seriously, i remember when this site broguht an ample amount of people who kept the forums going and now you have to wait a day to get a single reply from someone. well heres hoping that someone will respond and perhaps comment on my band and if you have a myspace or purevolume page PLZ ADD ME, i have like no friends on it
OK, sorry for taking a while to review. I love your influences but am not really feeling the music. The 2nd one on PV had a nice drum machine beat but please take no offense when I say you need to find someone to sing for you guys.
I will try and be more active in the forum

thanks....i know my singing is not great but i'm the only member in my band if i feel that this band has potential then i perhaps will recruit one but as of now this band is just stuff i was writing for my own benefit and was persuaded to do this... i am very apphrensive towards my writing but i think i'm getting better. Anyways thanks for the response and i take no offense, honesty can only help me. Do you not anything or is it just my vocals? Plz elaborate bc someone else said something in that vein and it would be beneficial to know.

I think It's funny that you criticized me, for comparing my band to brand new, when you did the same for your band for exactly the same reason. but that's ok. Everyone wants to be brand new. They're amazing. they're the best at what they do. but anyway as far as your music is concerned, I took a listen. My thoughts: I really like the postal service esque beats and music. but my only real compliant is the weird vocals. either too soft or too loud and occsionally out of key. But If you continue to expand upon the foundation of your idea's I honestly see potential.
keep working at it.
your not a musician if you give up.
(not to say you will).

thanks...lol ya i knew that would come back to bite me the ass, but it was merely for the promotional purposes. i didnt put it as the title and claim to write lyrics like him but is good... thanks for checking it out tho and it seems so far no one likes my vocals which is o.k i knew people wouldnt anyways. it's more about my compositional skills than my vocal ability
