The Fireship, Chicago’s newest progressive/alternative rock band, with the help of UK based AWAL (Artists Without A Label), digitally released their debut EP, titled Paper Tigers on March 1, 2010. The album features a unique sound and blend of influence from artists such as Muse, Mute Math, The Mars Volta, Foo Fighters, and 30 Seconds To Mars. The Fireship take 5 original compositions, as well as a remix of the EP’s debut track, to showcase their ability to mesh unforgettable vocal melodies, prolific songwriting, and incredibly unique versatility on this debut EP.

The Fireship started making a name for themselves in Chicago right from the start when their debut live performance in August 2009 drew 250 fans to Chicago’s Beat Kitchen. From there they were invited to play some of Chicago’s most coveted venues, such as Metro and House of Blues, to packed rooms of close to 1000 fans. In November of 2009, The Fireship was chosen above thousands of well-qualified submissions in PacSun's PacTour contest, resulting in an opening slot on the tour with Saosin, Innerpartysystem, POS, and Eye Alaska. Then, in February of 2010, the band won the entire National contest, taking the top prize over more than 50,000 bands nationwide. The band will be traveling to Los Angeles, CA for a performance on Fuel TV's Daily Habit, recording with famed producer Keith Armstrong (Rise Against, Green Day, Paramore, Dave Matthews), a developmental management deal with Strapping Young Lad, a public relations deal with Big Picture Media (Anberlin, Thrice, Circa Survive, City and Colour), as well as free gear from Ernie Ball & PacSun.

All of this exposure, mixed with major radio play and guerilla promotions, has brought attention to the band - well over 10,000 MySpace plays and thousands of followers on MySpace, Twitter, and Facebook. With the support of AWAL, the Paper Tigers EP is reaching an international audience brought on by global distribution and marketing. With a proper release, The Fireship is using the Paper Tigers EP as a springboard, planning national tours and major promotion for 2010.
