The elephant holds an umbrella

behind the curtain
I wait for the show.

The elegance has failed us
driven by dread and the blame

I am the dancer in the dark,
the unseen wood beneath the bark;

I painted your shelf
from its wooden self
and upon your breasts I found cracks,
I’ll bust them up
and fill them with my nails.
