for the record, so far im the only one voting for under 40.
there isnt anything remotely interesting about it, and for a movie marketed as being so stupid you have to watch, there is nothing even slightly amusing/funny about the previews.
cult movies that have done well, being unintentionally funny, were exactly that. unintentional. i think they're overestimating peoples willingness to openly and knowingly waste their money.

i think it will have trouble breaking 40 mill, but it will scrape past it. Like kara said, it's only a big deal on this message board and on a bunch of other message boards. The people who go to movies and allow themm to gross 200 million aren' t on message boards, they're the normal teenager or 'tween.'

this movie won't see a breath past 60 million, and that's being generous. internet/message board phenomenon means very little in reality. it will be a horrible movie that sees a huge boost in its first two weeks, then a huge dropoff. guaranteed.

I was kind of interested in it for the camp value, but then I saw the trailer and it looks like they're actually trying to make it a fairly serious movie.

and I think it won't even get all the internet nerds too. They waited too long to put this out. if it came out in say june or july, then it would have been huge. I mean, I remember seeing shit on the news about SOAP in April/May. Now the only coverage I've seen is trailers, which aren't really going to make anyone want to see the movie since if you haven't already heard of it, you're probably going to think it's the stupidest idea ever.

a good rule of thumb is doubling the opening weekend (doesn't work all the time, so dont come at me with your titanics and your pirates 2s), so it's looking like it'll end up in the 30 million range.

ehhh not really. since they ended up putting alot of money into the advertising and all the reshooting after it started getting buzzed....they were probably expecting that in its first week honestly. id say its pretty much a flop.
