Dreadlocks

I have been considering getting dreadlocks for a few years now, but I know very little about them. How does one take care of them and whatnot? I feel kind of silly posting about it on here but I figured I would do it anyway, haha.

It was a good point. But regardless, you can find out more about dreadlocks by googling it then you could in here. I used to want dreads for many years, never did it though. I don't have thick enough hair. Key points: you're going to lose 25% of the length when they start to lock up due to back combing. You can indeed wash them, just get the right cleaning products, and you have to consistently work them at first. Too much of a hastle for me.

I've been wanting to get thin dreads (looks a bit like Shakira's hair, but actually dreaded and not just twisted like hers) for a while. But I'm starting to realize that my hair is already thin as it is and going through with that will probably make it even worse. To answer you're question taking care of dreads is more so tedious than anything, it takes a lot of up keep and honestly they're worth it if you're in it for the long haul...the most important part is making sure your hair locks up, after that things get easier...after they lock up you're only gonna have to retwist the new growth every few months...

One thing i will say is that all people go through the ugly phase when they 1st get dreads...black white Asian whatever it happens...

and just for the record dreads aren't gross if you take care of them.

She's one of the nicest, sweetest people I've met, she's not "dirty", she's smart, and she has raised the most respectful, courteous children I've ever even seen. Her brother has dreads down to the middle of his back, and has had them for as long as I could remember, he's smart, hilariously hilarious, and basically shares the same adjectives as his sister (except for the quiverfull thing).

One thing about both of them is that they dont raise their kids to judge people based on hair styles.

I wear sunglasses because my neurologist suggested it, I only found one pair that not only fit my budget, but looked cute on me and were my favorite color so I bought them and they happened to be over sized. I bought the uggs last october they were my first big purchase (and hopefully my only) which I got for multiple reasons
1. my previous pair of shoes were ballet flats which were my only pair for two years,
2. I was tired of stepping through snow only to get in a car without heat, which would have eventually led to frostbite
3. those shoes ended up growing mold in them because of all the snow that they absorbed
4. I wanted something that would last.

I could go on talking about how I wear the things I wear for practical reasons, but if you really want to see how stupid it is to judge people based off personal appearance, just watch the history channel's The Universe, there's an episode featuring an astrophysicist with a very alternative style, including guages that were larger than 00. It just goes to show that very intelligent amazing people with great jobs dont have to fit your image of beautiful.
