about these will ferell/vince vaughn/owen wilson movies? they're not funny

are producers/writers just not as good as they used to be or are todays consumers far too easily amused?

I haven't seen a Ferrell/ Wilson/ Vaughn movie that dissapointed me. I think they're hilarious together.

Will Ferrell alone can't star a movie anymore. Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G) made 'Ricky Bobby' good.
Old School was a very funny movie, as was Anchorman. Nothing else was impressive.

I'd add Zoolander, but I'm pretty sure that was different writers/director.

Vince Vaughn is the best out of those three, he is the only reason Wedding Crashers is funny.

Owen Wilson is only funny because of his nonchalant attitude toward everything. Like in Meet the Parents when he says the line about the gazebo for the wedding.

"Yeah I built this with my own two hands out of one single block of wood."

Will Ferrell on average has some good movies. Vince Vaughn has never disappointed me. Owen Wilson is alright. Steve Carrell is the only one I see becoming the next great comedic actor. He's so awesome. Ben Stiller is still the man.

Yeah Carrell is the shit.

You're nuts if you can't see those guys talent and their chemistry together.

I think there's definitely chemistry between them that makes the movies. However, every comic is bound to make a shitty movie here and there.

I say the same thing about half the stuff talked about in this forum.

i think all those actors work well together but my biggest problem is that it seems like a lot of the jokes are either recycled from movie to movie or they are one liners that are border line funny, as well as the movie plots. I'm not gonna say I like "the older comedies" better because thats not necessarily true. A lot of good stuff came out in those days (Everything Mel Brooks, Spinal Tap, Monty Python, etc.) but it seems like a lot of good shows like Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasim and sometimes the Office (US), are just under appreciated because they are maybe, as much as i hate to say it, sophisticated comedies. i cant blame those guys for making stuff that sells though, because they certainly know how to market themselves to todays generation.
