Aerodrone (http://www.myspace.com/aerodrone), the indie/new wave sideproject of Metropolis Records' Dismantled, has been showcased as a "featured artist" on the Myspace website. In addition, Aerodrone has been awarded the #1 position (http://http://topartists.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.topBands ) for Unsigned "New Wave" Artists alongside LostProphets and Hot Hot Heat in the "Indie" and "Major" categories. The band is currently promoting heir newest release The Spin EP.

No no, it says that LostProhets are #1 in the Indie Category...and Hot Hot Heat are #1 in the Major Category.

you don't get awarded those spots. it's just a matter of having the most profile views in any given day.

any band could pick an obscure enough genre like "new wave", spam the link to all their friends and fans, and for one day take the number one spot on the unsigned list of bands in the new wave category on myspace.

my band currently holds the #1 spot for "ukelele jams" under the unsigned category, sharing the spotlight with the likes of famous hawaiian dudes.
