17 label execs were at the Powerspace show last night. Two of them being Matt Pinfield and Petey Wentz.

Check out the band that opened, the New Diet, who are much better than Powerspace, imo.

Powerspace is not worth the hype they're getting IMO; their EP bores me.

you know people can say what they want about pop punk and how it all sounds the same but if you ask me pop punk has more of a lasting power than these stupid power-pop/boy-bands crap. I like a few selected out've those bands like one of my favorite bands the pettit project but when they can learn how to write more than a catchy chorus maybe i'll change my mind but for now i cant stand most've these bands. Finally! pop punk kids can have a genre of music we can trash on. they have the idea of being catchy like pop punk bands they just dont have the balls or the power to last such like bands as boys like girls or cute is what we aim for. you can call me a prick for saying so but as being a huge fan of pop punk these Power pop bands seem so dam fake and i cant stand phony's.

no i'm not just talking. i'm talking about bands like panic at the disco, cute is what we aim for, hellogoodbye, boys like girls. i'm not saying all those types of bands are bad because there are def some good ones for instance i love rediscover. they mix like techno and pop. its good stuff and its wicked corney and catchy. i duno i like it but they pull it off good. I dont think its fair for a band like panic! to sell a million copies of their debut cd while std releases sound the alarm and after like 4months it just sold 50k. thats just not right to me. while people hate on pop punk bands they had alot've heart and it just doesnt seem that way with these types of bands.

powerspace is probably the worst band name ive ever heard.

also, i agree with those saying they are overhyped, my friend was talking to them awhile back about putting some of their stuff out through his label. nothing ever materialized, but nonetheless i thought they were overrated then (which was when they had about 130 friends on myspace), and i think theyre overrated now. so many better unsigned bands out there that deserve the attention... particularly an NJ ska band by the name of AWFUL WAFFLE. the dudes get booked for tons and tons of shows, and have really built a strong fanbase through them, many of which are really good ones( reel big fish, streetlight manifesto, mxpx, bamboozle, etc etc etc) and for some reason they don't seem to be getting any label love, or even any attention from this website (ahem, brandon allin im looking at you). get on that.

not sure if this is the exact story, but it may shed some light. 3 of the current members were students at miami of ohio. their ex-singer (who was more of an avant-garde poet) walked in on a few of them studying one night and said, "what the hell is this? some kind of powerteam?" they found that hilarious. i think really more they just made a huge list of names like most bands do and narrowed it down.

DoubleHeader is one of the best bands to have been a part of the Long Island scene. They honestly should've been fucking huge.
