I do quite like them. Only when I'm in the mood though. Too much of them and they can get a little irritating.

Yeah definitely in my top 3 right now.

"We are beautiful, we are doomed" and "The sea is a good place to think of the future" could be two of the best songs I have ever heard.

i sort of feel the same way. "can't stand them" is a bit harsh but they get pretty annoying after awhile.

I thought the first album was kinda obnoxious. I never gave the second a chance, but from what I've heard, they changed considerably (in, what, the course of a year?). Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu) and Zac Pennington (Parenthetical Girls) both make appearances on the new album, which has me intrigued. How is it?

Just got "Romance is Boring" and haven't had a chance to get into it yet....but I really like the song "The Sea is a Good Place To Think of the Future" so I'm hoping it'll be good.

New album is awesome, and more mature music wise with less youthful whining about girls, there's still whining about girls though.

Just thought I'd mention that Ollie left the band.

This is a band I fell in love with immediately. I saw the video for Death to... and loved it.

I'm surprised people aren't all over this band here. I'm listening to Romance is Boring, and it really seems like the kind of indie-pop album that AP kids would be nuts for.

I can't really say I relate to the lyrical content much

and I wouldn't listen to them in a group of people who would judge me based on their sound

One of my favorite lyrics ever. Along with "I identify my star sign by asking which is least compatible with yours".

i love that. and "and talking about which breakfast club character you'd be, i'd be that one that dies, 'no one dies.' 'well, then what's the point?'" i just love the wittiness of all their lyrics.

Definitely. "If your hero told you to go huff a sharpie, what would you do?" "I do not know"

By the light of the LED display of a VCR recorder, you kiss my neck. I whisper in your ear,
“This is my downfall,” as you squint and you grimace, we both know your heart’s not in it.

By the glow of a thousand fireflies in a travelodge en-suite: they think the future’s bright as halogen, we know it’s pretty bleak. And I’m trying to be sexy, biting at the air that falls in front of me. Your telegrams are more and more less detailed by the day and all the characters are strangers and the pubs have different names.

I tell a joke that I’d like to meet them but they loathe me and I hate them back.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Fondness makes the absence longer. Length loses my interest, I’m a realist, I’m insatiable, swapped counting days until I fly, with hours before your reply. You said he got his teeth fixed? I’m gonna break them. I’ve got a heart on fire! He said he’s got his sights set on getting to you? I’ve got a fist on fire.

You feel terrified at the thought of being left behind, of losing everybody, the necessity of dying. Oh,

WE KID OURSELVES THERE’S FUTURE IN THE FUCKING,
BUT THERE IS NO FUCKING FUTURE.

I’m just practising my accents, picking at old sutures.

I taught myself the only way to vaguely get along in love is to like the other slightly less than you get in return. I keep feeling like I’m being undercut. Charlotte says,
“It’s more constructive than the one in Canada - when you got drunk, ate loads of crisps and threw up by a football pitch.”
I know it is, and really that’s what worries me- I feel like I should hurt.

I cannot emphasise enough that my body is a badly designed, poorly put together vessel, harbouring these diminishing, so-called “vital organs.” Hope my heart goes first.
“I HOPE MY HEART GOES FIRST!”

And
We are beautiful,
We are doomed.

I love formatting their lyrics.

---

I bet you twenty pounds if you knew ten years ago how pretty you’d turn out then you’d never have gotten your ears pierced, but I never got my ears pierced and look how I turned out! The last time that you tried listening to music and reading fiction at the same time, you never finished the chapter, but you finished the song with your chin on your knees like you belong.

And i never cared about Henry Rollins. Amelia Fletcher never meant anything to me, but the International Tweexcore Underground will save us all

Getting my laptop fixed by a professional doesn’t make me a pawn and stamping harder on your FX pedal won’t make you feel any better anymore. You said,
“We’ve gotta bite the hand that feeds,” but I was sucking seductively on the fingertips of a civil servant, and you said,
“How you gonna bring the state down when you’re propping it up with daytime radio and skimmed milk and soppy bows, just because you’re scared to be alone?”

And I never cared about Ian MacKaye. Calvin Johnson never meant anything to me, but the International Tweexcore Underground will save us all!

This city is run by fucking pigs, and though you say you’re my friend, you’re not. You’re one of them.

And i never cared about…whatever. Sarah Records never meant anything to me, but the International Tweexcore Underground will save us all!

Not a lot of Los Campesinos! love on this site it seems. I got Hello Sadness over the past month and have been listening to it off and on. So far I feel like this album is connecting with me more than Romance is Boring. It's catchier and easier to get into. Not as great as Hold On Now, Youngster... but their debut set a high standard.

Also, I'm seeing them in February. Pretty excited.

The thing that attracts me to this band is how personal the lyrics are.
