Did anyone actually like that movie?

I went to see it last night, and when it ended, EVERYONE in the theatre started laughing in disbelief.
It was seriously that bad, no one could believe how much it sucked.

So yeah, any thoughts?

I'm not going to see it but I'd like to know why it sucked so much.

good, don't waste your money.

and it sucked because it had a horrible story and plot. Up to a certain point it was ok, but then it was taken too far.
I cant say much without spoiling it, but I can say that it is advertised as a scary movie, and there is not a single scary moment. It shifted to a comedic side after a while, and it really really really sucked.

Lady In The Water is basically a a kid's movie... for adults. I see what he was trying to do by conveying his message for people to stop over analyzing everything and to just have fun with the story, but it doesn't really work. It's a good idea, but one that might be impossible to implement. The suspension of disbelief, like in many children's movies, is required to an absurd extent. It is almost puzzling for a developed mind to do this, though, when the film is trying to take itself seriously.

c'mon, i mean...really? it wasn't that bad of a movie. i saw it twice after i thought it was ho-hum, and i was surprised how much better it was when i had no expectations. it's like marrost said, its all about whether you can take the plot seriously, and i didn't have much of a problem doing that. some of it was quite a stretch, and there were some really cheesy parts. but all in all, i didnt think it was terrible

i thought it was horrible.
It could have been amazing, I mean, the story they made up wasnt really all that bad.
But the way they decided to tell it just REALLY sucked.

I can see what you mean by watching it without any great expectations, but that movie is deff going on my list of worst movies I've ever seen.

I went in with really no expectations and knowing it was more of a bedtime story so from that perspective I enjoyed it. I really don't know why people were so angry about the ending though, since the whole entire point of the story was to awaken the person and then to get Story out of there and that's precisely what they did.

Plus I just really enjoy Paul Giamatti.

Aww, man...everyone I talk to says how horrible it was, too. I honestly never lost interest when I saw it, and was almost brought to tears at the "healing" part. I liked the ending and left the theatre very satisfied.

Then again, I really liked Signs and was scared as shit watching it, and even left the theatre scared shitless (although I didn't like how the alien looked), but a lot of people I talked to said it was laughable.

I guess I'm just easily captivated. I've noticed that neither film did much for me the second time around, though. I remember telling my family how scary Signs was, but then watching it at home...it wasn't scary at all. I told my gram how "enchanting" Lady in the Water was, and then when I saw it a second time with her, it was just kind of boring and lost the magical element it had. I think the allure of Shyamalan's stuff is not knowing what to expect to happen to these normal people suddenly thrust into a sequence of very abnormal events...and I'm really into crop circles, alien invasion type stuff, etc. and liked the fantasy-story-turned-real thing behind LITW, so maybe that's why I was so drawn into both films my first sitting.

Maybe I'm just easily entertained, though. I can sit through most movies, even your run-of-the-mill action movie, and be like, "Well, it was a movie...and it was okay," instead of being like, "What a generic piece of shit that was," whether it was or wasn't. Critics are tuff.

I remember seeing a teaser for this movie a long time ago (I think during Saw 2, but that might be to far back) and it grabbed my interest.

I liked The Village alot, and the ending, but people seemed to hate that movie. So maybe it'll be the same way with Lady in the Water.

yeah its i went to see it too and it sucked that bad! and the sad part was i wanted to go see it. so i made my b.f take me and now i dont hear the end of it. every time the preview shows on t.v it sounds all hardcore..but its not! some kids were calling those wolves or whatever they were chia pets (you know those animal shape things that grows grass out of them if you add water. gosh you know what im talking about). and yeah it was pretty lame.
