Where do I start...

My name's Rob Rice, and I've got a couple songs on my MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/RobRiceMusic) page that are waiting to be listened to. They mainly consist of piano and vocals, with a little extra here and there. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

I guess you could say that the music is Indie, Alternative, Progressive, even Emo.

As far as influences and "sounds like" -

Say Anything
the Receiving End of Sirens
the Early November
Forever Changed
the Spill Canvas
Straylight Run

On another note not concerning the songs on my myspace...

Currently, I am 7 songs deep (out of 10 or 11) into my as of now untitled album, telling the fictional troubled life story of a girl named Madison. The story line is done, 6 songs are almost completely written and scratch demos have been recorded, and once all the songs have been written out I'm going to record the full album here in my room, mixed and mastered to the best of my abilities. I don't want to put a release date on it until i'm very close to being done with it, for I do not want to rush the writing or recording process. This album is a lot more guitar-driven, consisting of only a few tracks with piano (contrary to the current playlist on my myspace). I've been playing guitar for 5 years, and piano for a few months. In conclusion, I'm a helluva lot better guitar player than piano, and that will be proven when the album is complete.

Once the album is completely done, I would like to make it available for download for free to anyone who wants it. Why? I guess I don't feel the need to try to make a business out of my music. It loses it's funny when it's about the money. If I can make someone's day better, so be it. My day's going just fine.

Well, i listened to your songs and i rather enjoyed them. To lift an eyelid is much better than the other (i feel the 2nd one lacks passion). I don't really hear half your influences though, it sounds more like Jacks Mannequin without the distortion. Anyways you got a great voice, great recordings, and keen sense for composing, keep up the good work. Hope your albums sounds good and does well. Plz check out my band, i'd really like to hear what you think http://myspace.com/atroposmar or http://www.purevolume.com/atroposmar

Is that Tab-It I hear? Hah I remember thse days. You should definitly consider getting Reason or something of the sort, I'd like to hear high quality versions of those songs and I could get a better feel for them.

lol...it's not "tab it", but it's something of that sort. I was gonna replace the sounds with my actual guitar but then my computer crashed and i lost everything but an exported version of the songs. So, instead of re-recording the vocals and everything so i could replace the sounds, my indolence convinced me to just keep it the way it was and so i did. Besides, i never really intended to show anyone other than my gf the songs...Anyways, thanks for taking the time to listen
