who went, who did you see, and how was your day?
i went. i saw the 3 bands i had originally intended on seeing [hometown anthem, all time low, cartel], and i thought all three were absolutely amazing and i had a great day. aside from the fact that i am sunburnt as hell.

2 years ago was my first one, and i got sunburnt really badly. i had a blister on my nose.. not really attractive. yeah, i have cell service, but that's mostly because i have cingular, but i was texting my friend all night there, and he had t-mobile and that worked soo.. who knows.

i thought it was actually pretty bad, and one of the worst warped tours ive been to, but i didnt have to pay for it so i guess i can't really complain. The show was filled with lots of little kids, when i am only 17 and i'm amongst being one of the "older" kids there i think its kinda sad. There were surprisingly a decent amount of nu metal kids there and bros and your occasional hot girl. The show didnt in my opinion get good until 3 when i saw saves the day then cartel then thursday then the bouncing souls then i am the avalanche then a little bit of the early november and i left around 545.
xowearmeout, i saw your friends in hometown anthem they were actually pretty good.

i had a good time. moneen's show was absolutely incredible, as well as adair and saves the day. chris' voice has improved live drastically, he nailed everything. not fond of the pink hair though. he just doesn't look like the overspoken shy boy who always gets his heart broken that old saves the day fans have grown to love. still awesome set, though. i got to stand on stage with them when they did it, it was pretty awesome.
i work at raceway park (gate attendant) so i got in free and got vip and hung out with bands and stuff. william beckett is an awesome guy, he broke into gnarles barkeley's crazy (not with gym class, during the academy is show they just rushed into it before the last chorus of black mamba, played the crazy verse and chorus and then finished black mamba) and sung 7 weeks with gym class. it was pretty neat.
moneen still had the best set, though. i'm not a huge moneen fan and i thought i'd stop by for a fifteen minutes and then head over to i am the avalanche but they threw one of the best sets i've seen in a long time. incredible energy, talent and all out, there was a connection. they even had a special occasion with us and played a song they never play live (and it just so happens to be my favorite song by them) despite the fact that kenny forgot the name of the song. you can't blame him, though, with a name like "There Are A Million Reasons For Why This May Not Work, And Just One Good Reason For Why It Will". it was one of those shows where you really felt you were a part of the band, and afterwards Kenny brought us to his tent and talked to all of us and just, he was really caring and wanted to know about our lives and what had brought us here. moneen is probably one of the most mature bands out there.
the subtly famous heychris popped up everywhere, and my friends marissa and sami (who i went with) hung out with him and he fed them porkchops.
fun day.

I came in from Pittsburgh to vacation in Jersey. We had just goten in to jersey that day, so I was tired from the drive, but we went anyways. We had passes so we didn`t have to deal with any hassle with parking and ect.
As soon as I got there saves the day was on and as usual did not dissapoint me one bit. Some kid told me they were to whiney for him and then he proceeded to go watch Aidens set. All I could do was laugh.
After them I walked around to see some friends. I caught cartel`s set and the only thing that dissapointed me with them was that the stage was too small for them and the sound was bad. They put on a great performance though.
As soon as they were done I went to see Thursday. They blow me away everytime I see them. It was even better they won the extra 10 minutes. I thought they constructed their setlist very well.
I pretty much left after that. I would of loved to see saves the day acoustic though, but everyone was tired. I bet that was amazing, I hope some film gets out of that.
All in all I had a real good time, wish I would stayed a bit longer though. The layout was a lot better set up than what the Bamboozle was this year.

I absolutely hate you for posting this. Moneen was the only reason I wanted to go to Warped yesterday, but I couldnt b/c of work. I went to the first Warped date in MD and they fucked up the schedule on the big board, so I missed their set and it absolutely ruined my day. I still havent seen them live and I'm kicking myself for not calling out sick to work or something. If I saw them play "A Million Reasons" and "Frightening Reality" in their set I'd prolly die a happy man. I heard they were possibly headlining in the fall, did they say anything about that???

My Warped Days
Although I'm still sort of a Warped greenhorn (first time going was last year), I figured I'd make up for all those lost years by going twice this year. I went to the Camden show at the Tweeter Center last Thursday but despite the ungodly heat, I actually preferred that show better, perhaps because I went with some friends who enjoyed the bands I liked. It felt alittle more organized too. Saw Cartel, Valencia, a bit of Saves the Day, Stretch Armstrong, Motion City, Rise Against, bit of Less Than Jake, The Academy Is, and a few others. I got Hellogoodbye to sign their new album there and I enjoyed their performance. They put on a solid show, and to conclude the day, I got right to the front for Early November, despite a water bottle barrage before they came out to perform. Got clocked smack in the right temple by one, but it was worth it.
Now for Englishtown, right in the middle of SouthBumblefuck New Jersey. Seriously, I wish they'd move it to a better venue than a racetrack's parking lot. No offense to people who work there, but it's not suited for Warped Tour. It was much cooler than Camden although I still got burnt. Despite that, I intended to get more swag this day and I picked up a few interesting things along with the usual sampler cds and whatnot. However, my friends going this time around are your typical ska/punk/anti-Bush let's beat the shit out of people.. kind of people. So I got to see the rougher side of Warped. Instead of seeing all my preferred bands again, or as they put it, '****** emo bands', it was time to get punk. Not a problem.
So, we walked around viewing the smaller stages where the usual punk and ska bands were playing. Horse the band, Stretch Armstrong, and other small stage wonders. Of course, I was given swag bag duty while my friends moshed or skanked about. I didn't mind all that much, I got to see the full set of Less Than Jake. I planned to go get another cd for a friend back home signed by Hellogoodbye again. I had to sneak away from my moshing friends while they dished on the local cuisine, aka greasy cheesesteak to go pick up the cd. Luckily, I located their merchandise tent where their usual shirtless tattooed British vendor was being swamped by the amount of pre-teens wanting shirts and other whatnots. If there was ever a time I wanted to punt a 12 year old cause they needed their god damn HGB snail shirt, it was then. I planted the ten and headed back to my punk crew. We saw another band I didn't care to remember but I was off to go get the cd signed at the SanDisk tent. Of course, I stood out like a sore thumb in a line of tweens and overweight pudgy girls, waiting for dear Forrest to sign their backpacks and shoes. I tried to make small talk with a small Asian girl there but it got awkward so I stood down one of their female SanDisk guards. Both of us clad in sunglasses, it was a showdown at High-Noon.. or 4:00... whatever.
As I got closer, I whipped out the cd booklet to be signed. I called my friend and promised her I'd try and get Forrest to talk to her via my phone. I said she was a cancer patient (a blatant lie but Forrest didn't notice) and she wanted to talk to them. And of course, being the good guys Hellogoodbye are, Forrest obliged and talked to her for a bit. He gave back the phone and the band proceeded to sign the cd booklet. Marcus also was interested in my offer to talk to my friend, and he happily played the Mario Bros. theme on my cellphone's keypad. Jesse had a 'what the fuck are you doing?' expression on his face. To my friend back home, she said it sounded more like Mary Had A Little Lamb than Mario. I didn't care. My phone was imbued with the powers of Hellogoodbye. Sadly, I missed Thursday again, I saw them playing in the distance on the main stage. Godspeed Thursday.. Godspeed.
So after my second time of being intimate with Hellogoodbye, it was time to grab some more quick swag. I figured I'd stop at the t.r.u.t.h. truck/booth area. I met the same blonde who worked the booth there on Thursday and reminded her that I was back for free stuff that I didn't get on Thursday at Camden. She didn't remember me but we chatted for a bit and I got a pretty cool hat. I met back up with my friends, who had been rocking out to the Casualties and the Bouncing Souls which I figure was a mosh pit mecca for any self-acclaimed punk. It was time now to swallow my pride and embrace Rise Against, and I did. Like Early November, a water bottle barrage occured. You know, it's really a beautiful sight when you watch ten to twenty liquid containers fly in mid-air and nearly clock you in the skull. I swatted a few with my foam FUSE finger. Got alittle scary when the usual beer bottle finds itself airborne. Not a comforting sight. Finally, Rise Against took the stage and the moshing began. They were my personal favorite band for the day and I really want to go pick up their new album. After nearly getting crushed by crowd surfers and the usual craziness, along with the disgusting flood of sweat, I figured I'd conclude with Hellogoodbye's performance at the nearby Hurley stage.
I got a pretty good spot originally, but I was scrunched inbetween alot of tween girls, mostly fat and repulsive. I opted to run to the bathroom and take up another viewing spot. Anti-Flag was getting ready to play soon at the almost adjacent main stage where Rise Against was, my friends would be there while I would squeeze through pre-teen city to glimpse my happy go lucky band of synth and sugar coated pop again. I managed to get a mediocre spot, not what I wanted but it worked. However, the tweens were getting on my nerves far too much and I figured, that was enough. After Bonnie Taylor Shakedown, I retreated to catch whatever bit of Anti-Flag I could. However, Anti-Flag was winding down yet I stayed back for autographs. Hellogoodbye kept on, a couple hundred people had swarmed around the Hurley stage, nearly a quarter or more of Warped's attendence was there. They did the same songs that they did at Camden, including the same 'Show me your brown eye' lyric change for Touchdown Turnaround and the same Blink 182 cover of 'What's my age again.' Had I been with friends who liked HGB, I would have stayed but the tweens here aggravated me and I figured I can't enjoy Hellogoodbye in such a setting. Dusk was turning to dark. I waited behind the main stage as Anti-Flag and their crew pulled out. I did nab two autographs from Anti-Flag's drummer Pat Thetic and Chris Head. Justin Sane wasn't to be seen and Chris Number 2 ran off with his woman, preferrably to go have sweet love. Aww shucks, what about sharing all that peace and unity you talked about with the rest of us Number 2?
My crew and I went to go see the last bits of NOFX's set. The crowd booed the oncoming Motion City and NOFX hurried on with a quick encore to appease their fans. So that was that, I would have stayed for Motion City but I figure I'll see them another time, plus I was tired, as were my friends. I sort of wanted to see the again missing Underoath (absent from Camden also) along with a few others but so be it. Warped slowly began to die down and we left. I gave my friend her cd later that night and she was estatic, plus it patched some holes up in a very badly wounded friendship... who says music can't mend broken hearts?
That was my day. How was yours?
as stated earlier in the thread, im 22 and I think I may be too old for Warped these days, all little kids, all I saw. Anyway, big dissapointment. I went to see really only 5 bands and check a bunch more bands I listen to, but not as much out.
Nofx
LTJ
Bouncing Souls
Rise Against
Zebrahead
NOFX and Less Than Jake killed me. They played too many damn songs I personally didnt wanna hear. NOFX played a track off the EP that no one liked, Lori Meyers (the 10th best song on PID), Stickin in my Eye, a Rancid cover.....I mean come on. They didnt even play Seeing Double at the Triple Rock. All Fat Mike and Hefe did were try to be as contraversial as ever and talked the whole damn set. Linoleum and the Brews were the saving grace.
LTJ played Overrated...bah, got the crowd goin, but not my favorite. A bunch of older songs that i didnt need to hear, the staple Johnny Quest, and a dumbed down version of Science of Selling Yourself Short. They did play Plastic Cup Politics though, which was a pleasant suprise.
Boucning Souls and Rise Against.....I had zero complaints. They played all their popular songs, plus a bunch of other tracks that I liked, so they were probably my 2 favorite sets, besides........
Cartel. Now, these guys scream Teeny Bopper, the crowd was all kids, and me it seemed like. I wanted to check them out, but damn they had a really crisp set, very good live band. The song "Burn This City" is amazing, I was shocked how much I liked them.
I wanted to see Gym Class, but could only watch 2 songs, b/c I had to jet over to the LTJ set which started 15 minutes later.
I wanted to see alot of other bands, but i was beat, sunburnt, hungry and didnt feel like throwin kids off me for bands i wasnt into as much.
Watched alot of bands on the outer stage, enjoys The Fully Down, Scarey Kids. The Academy Is are weak. I wanted to see Gatsby but they werent there, or at least I missed them. oh, and Zebrahead was a no show.
pretty dissapointing day, but some sets made it worthwhile. Plus, no traffic, b.c after NOFX I was gone, didnt stay for MCS
I would've killed to see AFI and State Radio too, but they were off the damn tour

Another reason why I didnt go besides getting sunburnt...Im 21 and felt too old even last year for warped tour..Im mad I didnt go when I was 17 or 18. Club shows for me!

It was worth it for Against Me!, The Bouncing Souls and Rise Against.
I also saw Less Than Jake, both Saves The Day sets and Thursday. No complaints about any of them.
I wanted to stay for NOFX and MCS, but my friend wanted to leave and I was kinda beat.
Wasn't the best Warped, but it was still fun.

ok, so i went with my friend and my dad. i was front row at sense fail, but i could hardly enjoy it because there was wayy too much crowd surfing of big sweaty shirtless guys, and that just doesnt make it fun. i also ended up getting jabbed in the eye.
then i believe i was off to aiden. i originally saw them on the never sleep again tour last year, my first concert. this performance was nothing short of life changing. it was my very first circle pit experience, which was fucking crazy. every motherfucker on that stage went crazy. some girl in the front row handed wiL her panties. "...who the fuck wears these to warped tour?" then he put them around his shoulders. the wall of death for i set my friends on fire was fucking crazy. then they closed the set with world by storm, and wiL got the whole fucking place singing. he came out to the crowd right in front of me. it is also good to note that he broke 3 mics and most of the band broke at least some of their equipment before the end of the set.
i watched thursday for a little bit, then some scary kids scaring kids. armor for sleep on the hurley stage were fucking amazing. my friend has been into them for a long time because his cousin went to school with the guitarists brother. the only problem with the show was the amount of girls. there were about 2975725732935 thirteen year old girls crowd surfing. then wen me and my friend tried to start moshing we couldnt cuz we wer surrounded by thirteen year old girls.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHECK OUT THE BAND YOUINSERIES. i first saw them with circa/treos. they are amazing. there cd is pretty good, but it does ther live show no justice. i brought my friend over to see them, and there was like one line up against the barrier. luckily some more ppl came over, but not enough to mosh with. so it was jsut me, a guy from bullet for my valentine, and some crazy kid behind me who thought he was on stage singing along. yea but they are an amazing band.
then my friend dragged me to see hellogoodbye. i almost punched him out wen i realized how pop-y they were, but then i was scared shitless when suddenly, guys dressed up like pizza, a hotdog, a banana, and... chewbacca came onstage and wer like... humping. then the hotdog started rapping. then they played another song. scary. luckily they saved themselves by closing with a cover of dammit.
we finished the night with halifax, which have pretty much become my new favorite band. they are fucking like, the shit. so all in all a great night...day, er, w.e.

i saw...
billy talent, TAI, some of the gym class heroes, less than jake, hellogoodbye, armor for sleep, rise against, saves the day (acoustic), cartel, motion city soundtrack...i think thats it...
i thought they all were great. it was my first warped..i wasn't disappointed.
billy talent definitely started the day up good.
TAI was great. not much to say.
i wish i could have seen more of the gym class heroes, but i headed over to see less than jale. i had a great spot for less than jake and enjoyed it alot.
cartel sounded good, but of course the crowd was...eh. and i was hoping to hear either "saves us" or "the minstrel's prayer", but they kept with the faster songs.
then i met hellogoodbye, and they were really nice guys.
i'm a big armor for sleep fan, so i loved their set (but i missed one song to stop for merch, and i think it was my town. can anyone clear up if they played it?) i then went and got stuff signed, they were quiet, but nice.
rise against was great, but i was definitely starting to lose my energy..so i was relieved to get to saves the day acoustic set, it was relaxed and calm, and they sounded amazing.
hellogoodbye - you cannot be bored at their set. i had alot of fun, and luckily their were no equipment failiures like the last time i saw them. i don't know how to feel about their cover of "dammit" - i was having too much fun to care.
motion city soundtrack brought out a lot of older stuff, which i enjoyed. and surprisingly, they didn't play hold me down. i wasnt really disappointed, but it would have been nice to hear.
at the end of the day, i had a good time with my friends. i got burnt like hell, i'm currently peeling from it. i really don't have anything to compare it to (besides bamboozle, which is similar i guess).
Did Hellogoodbye end with Dammit or What's my Age again? I was at the nearby main stage waiting for autographs from Anti-Flag. I could have swore it was What's My Age again. I would have been there in the thick of the hellogoodbye crowd but like you said.. way too many god damn little tween girls for me to enjoy it.
offthewall13

it was dammit. i swore i thought i heard them practicing parts of it or like playin the cd b4 their set, but i was surprised wen they actually played it.
luckyboy611
08/12/06, 08:46 AM
Yeah it was dammit...and they fucked up like more than half the lyrics. It was pretty awful.
Ah. Glad I headed for Anti-Flag then. I love Hellogoodbye but the blink covers are a bit of an overkill. They did some justice to What's My Age again at Camden though. I'll give them credit for that.

I saw Less Than Jake, NOFX, Bouncing Souls, Against Me!, Rise Against, The Casualties, Anti-Flag, part of Hellogoodbye, Thursday, and they were all good I was glad LTJ/NOFX played older music and not their new shit which blows penis.
