well, I heard maynard gets pissed off really easily and has a tendency to walk off stage midset and refuses to come back. At least, that's what my friends said when they saw Tool and also A Perfect Circle.

This is a thread about some guy who got totally crushed along with thousands of other people at a recent Tool concert. Kind of sucks.

It's £35 to see Tool in England.

Fuck that shit.

Oh man. That's nothing. My sister paid 100 to 200 bucks a ticket just to see NIN. (Scalpers).

That shit's crazy. Never would I enter a Tool pit. Not unless I was fucking like, hulk-size or something. That post is crazy, though. I can't believe it, still. I mean, I can, but, still.. crazy.

a) I'm going when they come to Phoenix on September 9th.
b) Regardless of whether one has a taste for TOOL, each member of the band is a monumental artist with incredible musicianship. Part of the masterpiece of TOOL is that their extremely developed sound carries over perfectly in a live venue.

Most people focus on the power of Maynard James Keenan's vocals, as they're always on key and he can hold screams for over a minute (ie. "The Grudge"). In addition to the vocals are the incredibly unique tribal beats composed by Danny Carey; a style of drumming he pioneered himself. Adam Jones's transcendant guitar style coupled with Justin Chancellor's pounding bass riffs create a sonic wave of magnificence.

In short, TOOL is one of the few bands that makes music sound better live than on their CD's; they're that talented. Spiral out.

Oh, Jesus. Thank you. I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone else more into them than me on here. You're absolutely right. They're one of the bands that have lasted since the nineties and are still making brilliant music. Hell, they're one of the few bands that are unique and still overpower fads as they come and go to make the music they've been making forever still amazing. Anyway, that's awesome. They haven't made a date here, yet. You should tell me how it goes!

(PS, You also like NIN, too. You're awesome.)

Well I mean, I'd probably go if it a) wasn't so expensive and b) didn't hear things about maynard not finishing sets. it'd just suck to go to a show expecting something and then not getting anything.

Thank you, I'll certainly let you know how the concert is. I can't wait. The last time they were in Arizona was a few months ago and the concert sold out within twenty seconds of tickets going on sale... so I didn't go.

However, they always put on a good show and I can't wait to see what visuals they have this time around. I believe most of the set backdrops on this tour are done by Alex Grey (http://www.alexgrey.com).. truly amazing.

Yeah, tickets for a band this epic tend to run for @ least $30 a piece, which definitely takes a bite out of one's wallet. (Not to mention when they book at smaller venues and tickets are $300 on ebay!) However, it's a once in a life time experience, and if you're even semi-interested in any part of TOOL I suggest you go. The live experience will change your entire perspective on the music.

The only times I've heard of Maynard not finishing a set was when he had some respiratory disease a while ago, and even then he finished most of his sets. Every concert I've been to involving him (TOOL, A Perfect Circle, etc.) he's had the endurance of a beast. Unforseen health issues are always a risk when going to see any band, and as I said if you can afford the ticket at least once in your life, do it. You won't regret a moment of it.

that's understandable. i mean, i'd have second thoughts if they were notorious about those things, like some bands. but if it's just things like that, that may not even happen that often, then i wouldn't want to pass up seeing them live. i guess it's kind of different for me, though; i've been waiting to see these bastards for three years.. i'd be happy with one whole song live for full ticket price. hah. true desperation.

ohhh yeah. i'd imagine they'll sell out quickly. i can't believe it was only twenty seconds.

yes! tool will have some kick ass visuals. even though, i would've preferred seeing them when they came out with lateralus.. the images from that album was fucking awesome. so they most likely had an even more kick ass set.
