I'm really surprised these guys don't have a thread yet. Chill surf rock band with a hint of new wave aesthetic that released their debut self-titled full length last year. Guitarist Matt Mondanile is also a part of Ducktails, Predator Vision, and the Parasails, all bands that are also worth checking out. Anyone else a fan?

I fucking love this band. Surfer Blood too.

There have been a lot of good "surf rock" bands popping up lately

Theres a thread about them in general.

I remember picking up the Tour CD-R last year and not being really impressed with it, but then I grabbed the Fake Blues/Suburban Beverage 7"s and that was pretty much all I listened to last summer, just over and over again. Was kind of bummed that the S/T was just some rehashings, but it was still great, so was Reality, "Basement" and "Dumb Luck" are two of the best Real Estate tracks. I was lucky enough to catch them in November, surprised they headlined a show out here, but it was fun, hope they come back.

Also, Parasails, Dreams in Mirror Fields and Predator Vision all suck, Ducktails is just ok. Mondanile just seems like a dick in general, I don't know, but I really enjoy his guitarwork ont he Real Estate stuff.

saw them recently and they were awesome, played a huge set too.

yeah i've gotten a pretty weird vibe from mondanile both times i've met him, but i like predator vision and ducktails so idk. and you should really mention the alex bleeker and the freaks lp (real estate - etienne + julian lynch)....that's an awesome record.

The Alex Bleeker record is good stuff, so is Live At Sleazys by Bongo, it actually borders on shitty and awesome, but it has Lynch, Mondanile and some other guys from Real Estate on it (Martin?), but yeah.

Didn't like that Alex Bleeker LP much but I somewhat enjoy all the Mondanile projects I've heard.

yeah i take that back that song and a couple others are great but overall i thought the ep was worse than the full-length.

bump. new ducktails lp is off the chain and is probably my favorite set of songs from mondanile. hamilton road and killin the vibe are overwhelmingly chill
