Maynard James Keenan. Whether you like his bands (TOOL & A Perfect Circle) or not; the talent is undeniable. His range is ridiculous, his tone is versatile, and he's always on key. He could sing any style and it'd be perfect. His voice continues to develop over the years, and only gets better; he continues to push the limits.

everyone except IAmNietzche (http://www.absolutepunk.net/member.php?u=39399) hasn't listened to hardly any music. He knows what's up. Brad Delp from Boston's voice is incredible. Lou Gramm from Foreigner is an amazing vocalist but Steve Perry from Journey is the best vocalist of all time. Jimi Johnson from Survivor is also rediculously talented. those guys wailed. adam from Tbs sounds awesome but the old school dudes didn't have pitch correction. Max Carl from .38 Special. Stan Bush is a solo artist. No one who has come around from the past 15 years has even compared to those guys.

I agree with you to an extent. In defense of my choice, I was choosing the best voice of vocalists that're active today...although the thread does ask for "ever." Oops. Also, Maynard James Keenan doesn't use any sort of pitch correction on his vocals.

10/06/06, 05:21 PM
yeah, i thought about it for awhile and it asks for the "best" not "most talented" singer and I think Barrett's voice compliments the Bosstone's music perfectly, the same goes with Hetfield and Ness. All three can sound gruff and have very little range, but they're perfect in their respective bands.

Robert Plant, Thom Yorke, Jonsi, David Gilmour.
I'm torn between Jack White and that guy from Blood Brothers...can't for the life of me remember his name.
Don't discuss a god when speaking of mortals; Robert Plant is a moot point. Comparing others to him is like comparing flashlights to the sun.
I looooveee Johnny Cash's voice, so his for old school. Though I don't think he has the best, he's just one of my favorites. And Freddie Mercury... and I do like Geddy Lee's voice.
My favorites for new school stuff would have to be Kristen May (Vedera), Toby Morrell (Emery), Dustin Kensrue (Thrice), and Brandon Boyd (Incubus).

Aaron Marsh simply has the best voice in music right now, imo
Limbeck's singer has my favorite voice, very distinguishable
Garret Kahn has always had one of my favorite voices
Will from Cartel could would American Idol any day haha
Tyson Ritter is also an amazing vocalist
I've always thoroughly enjoyed Adam Dove (Chamberlain, Split Lip) as well, though his voice wouldn't exactly fall into the same category as most of these guys heh

everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to deny the FACT that Tyson is an extremely talented vocalist is just ignorant and stupid.
you really need to either grow the fuck up, or get the fuck out of here, because people aren't going to stand for your bullshit. i've not seen a single post from you that hasn't been negative and lacking the word "fuck".
first of all, learn english so perhaps you can fill your posts with words other than "fuck."
second, learn to type, you're twenty years old, are you not old enough to type out "are" and "you"?
third, just repesct people on here, or prepared to be ripped on with every post you make.

Steve Perry
Yeah I really can't argue with that. Steve Perry's got a serious set of pipes.
For "new wave" music, I'm going with Will Pugh. (I think that's how his last name is spelt) He pulls of the highs well, and while I haven't heard him do lows, I think he could do it. Now if only we could get him to change the style of music he plays...

I may be the only one who thinks this, but I think Cove Reber's [Saosin] voice is absolutely breathtaking. Also Freddie Mercury, Serj Tankian, Adam Grontier and Layne Stanley. ENDOFSTORY.

Aside from Mercury they aren't that great. Sinatra, Redding and Yorke own them.
Aww i like them :X
Sinatra is great though.
