I'm excited for the St Louis show. I cant remember the last time Thrice has headlined here. Any guesses to what their setlist will be? Their last known setlist from Setlist.fm was:

Of Dust and Nations
Silhouette
Helter Skelter (Cover)
All The World is Mad
The Weight
In Exile
A Song for Milly Michaelson
Firebreather
The Artist in the Ambulance
Hold Fast Hope
Come All You Weary
At The Last
Like Moths to Flame
The Melting Point of Wax
Daedalus
Deadbolt
The Earth Will Shake
Stare at the Sun Acoustic
Beggars
I hope they add in some favorites like "All That's Left" or "Cold Cash Colder Hearts"

They opened for Brand New, but I wanna see them headline, cause there is so many songs I real want to hear that they mainly only play when they headline.

Same. Been awhile since they were here last (w/ Say Anything, I think). Suffice to say they killed it then and I'm excited to hear stuff from Beggars.

Also, does anyone know about how long the show lasts?

Someone post the full setlist in order!

i don't hate manchester by any means, but after giving them several chances (both on record and live), they just have never been able to capture my attention. i respect them fine as artists, they obviously jive really well with other fans of the genre... just apparently not with me.

Just because they're generally popular on this board doesn't mean everyone has to love them.
I personally find them just average. Both of their albums were very hit or miss for me, some great songs and some junk.

I need to go to see Thrice on their next tour. It's coming to Seattle in June, so I deff want to go. I would go to the Spokane date on this tour, but it doesn't work out for me with finals and stuff, plus it's a helluva long drive.

I wasn't insinuating that everyone has to love MO (I'm not even that much of a fan). I just think as far as supporting acts go, MO is a pretty good one, versus a completely horrible band doing so.

I'm pretty happy with that. It could use a couple more AITA songs, but still. I'm kinda indifferent to seeing Doublespeak and A Song For Milly Michaelson live, it'd be cool if they swapped those out. Other than that, the rest is great.

MO was so good last night. I kind of want to go again tonight, but I live and hour and a half (depending on traffic) away and am not up for the drive again. They said they were playing a different set tonight. Hopefully there isn't too much that is going to make me kick myself for missing.

Coming from someone that's been seeing them semi regularly since 2006, I was pretty disappointed with MO tonight, not gonna lie. Thrice was great, and I even enjoyed O'Brother, after not caring that much for them on record. MO was just...sloppy I guess. The 3 songs from Virgin (Wolves, Golden Ticket and of course Where Have You Been) were virtually unrecognizable.

I was pretty disappointed when I found that I couldn't attend the show, but it appears that knowing essentially only Virgin would keep me from thoroughly enjoying it. I regret never seeing them headline, but they put on a hell of a show opening for BN and the Say Anything/Saves The Day tour from 2007 or so.

i feel like the energy of the whole show was lacking tonight, crowd, band, etc. kind of a bummer. manchester killed it though, so i'll eat my words from earlier in the thread. regardless though, i had fun, i love seeing thrice live and watching teppei play guitar is just mindblowing. wish they would change up their setlist though, i feel like these are the exact same songs we heard in the fall.

Get the fuck out of here, I've seen Thrice 18 times and I could give a shit less about Deadbolt. You obviously haven't been around enough to see many of the show reviews/recaps I've posted up.

Thrice seemed tired and bored up there, Dustin forgot and/or jumbled up the lyrics a couple of times, Teppi had technical problems. This was my 18th Thrice show and it ranks very close to the bottom. Almost all of their sets have technical problems but they can usually right them quickly, not tonight. The crowd was a bunch of idiots also - clapping at unnescarry times, moshing like assclowns and dancing like it's a hippie show. Regardless it was nice/good to see the band again. Everyone has an off night, I don't hold it against the band. Manchester Orchestra was at least 100x's more tolerable than in October and O' Brother sounded good.

What's miserable about being disappointed by a really poor set from a band you've seen so many times? Is he supposed to be excited, just because it's Thrice? Lame. I mean, he's not holding this against the band; he's just not happy about the experience. That's completely fair.

TMS2787
04/21/10, 07:57 AM
How do I sound like a "miserable" person? Because I'm not sitting here praising a set from one of my favorite bands that was sub-par? I was happy to be able to see them again but I'm not going to say "oh that was great" when I felt it wasn't. I like to think I'm not miserable but people on this site post/say a lot of dumb stuff and I respond to it. Guess that makes me a "miserable" person. Oh, well.

bernie16wb
04/21/10, 08:42 AM
Two things: I was joking. It was either "you sound like a miserable person" or "cool story bro". :-)

And I just thought that you were being a little harsh. I mean, the technical problems took a total of what, two minutes to fix.

You don't much like Manchester Orchestra do you?

I usually hate when people bitch about setlists, so I really hate to be this guy right now, but it's such bullshit MO didn't play I Can Barely Breathe or Now That You're Home at the second ATL show. Would have much rather lost In My Teeth or 100 Dollars or either one of the fucking boring 10 minute long new songs.

How was I harsh? Dustin fumbled the words multiple times, the techincal problems where constant through out Thrice's whole set, and the band really lacked energy. It's just the facts, are you upset that I'm not praising them? They are easily one of my favorite bands - on record and live but last night just wasn't one of their better sets I've seen.

As for Manchester Orchestra, I do like them but last time I saw them in a amphitheater with Brand New so it wasn't too great.

bernie16wb
04/21/10, 10:00 AM
I'm not upset at all. I guess I don't have enough experience with Thrice (was my first time seeing them) but I thought they put on a pretty good show and I thought they had decent energy. Hopefully you're right and that was a bad show for them because then the next time I see them should be insanely awesome.

I thought Manchester was good at Time Warner in the fall they just didn't have a very good set list. Although it was nice to hear The River at that show.

Cleveland is just better than you.

I couldn't even type that with a serious face.

Get the fuck out of here, I've seen Thrice 18 times and I could give a shit less about Deadbolt. You obviously haven't been around enough to see many of the show reviews/recaps I've posted up..

based on the ignorance of your "deaf or stupid" comment, i figured you disliked their set because of their song selection. sorry for the asumption. i too have seen thrice play 10+ times dating back to 2002, and have certainly seen a show or two where they seemed a bit off, but i can't even fathom them playing so poorly that your comment was warranted.

Thrice did kinda suck but I thought Manchester fucking owned.

Manchester Orchestra

The Only One
Everything to Nothing
Colly Strings
(New Song)
I Can Barely Breathe
Pride
100 Dollars
April Fools (New Song)
My Friend Marcus
I've Got Friends
Where Have You Been (Extended Jam the Fuck Out Version)
Now That You're Home
Shake it Out

MO was great as usual. I thought they opened with Everything to Nothing though. It was funny when The Procession was yelled out and they explained how there was no way in hell they remembered how to play it. Crowd was pretty lame but me And my friends made the best of it.

Manchester Orchestra def isn't closing any of the tour except the first two shows in their hometown.

Show tonight sucked. Anyone who doesn't think so is deaf, stupid or both.

Manchester Orchestra opened with "The Only One" but it was pretty much just Andy singing it and the rest of the band just standing around. After that they went into "Everything to Nothing."

Thrice isn't playing STL tonight due to Dustin having a family emergency. That means my show in Milwaukee tomorrow is fucked too, I'm sure. Bahhhhh.

I am so fucking bummed about the show being canceled. I was actually getting ready to head down to The Loop, where the venue is at, when I got a call about it being canceled. Thankfully they're going to reschedule the show though.

They are NOT rescheduling the show man. I'm bummed too, I've been waiting since the Pops show in 2005 to see Thrice headline, but obviously this is a very serious situation.

today his dad sees a leading brain surgeon in LA. Scary times... healing, guidance and peace all are needed for the Kensrue family.

wow, that's horrible. prayers for them, seriously.

on another note--the reason I came here to post. saw this show in cincinnati and Manchester seriously killed it. I was so impressed/almost brought to tears. I'm lame but I don't even care.
