Before this turns into a big argument about whether people should be downloading leaks or whatever, here's my story:

High majority of the music I listen to is from the states, and I live in Australia. Whilst I have access to physical CD's by bigger bands such as Paramore and Motion City Soundtrack, I only have access to smaller bands if I agree to pay the ridiculous shipping costs. So I use blogs to download off to see if they are worth the money, and where they're worth the money but not enough to get a physical, I go digital.

Recently my most useful one (We Want Leaks) got shut down for some reason and apparently I need an invite to get on to http://www.it-leaked.com/. So can someone PLEASE extend me an invite or recommend me somewhere else? Do it for all the bands trying to 'make it' out there

Because this helps them 'make it' ?

I do a similar thing. When file2hd was working, I'd download all the tracks off the MySpace player and then if I enjoyed it, I'd buy the album.

I also remember when I went to Australia a few years ago, albums were pretty expensive to here. I know I saw Green Day's American Idiot for $30 when in the US, I bought it for a little over $12. Exchanged rates or whatever may have a factor in this but I know where you're coming from when you say music can be expensive there.

I know it's pretty shitty of me, but I can't do that haha
it's like, if I download a few songs off of an album, and like them, I'll buy the album
But if I download an entire album, (good quality), I can't justify it to myself to pay a tenner for something I already have

So sick of this, I'm willing to bet you don't buy everything you like. Please stop this excuse.

it-leaked.com blows compared to what.cd and waffles.fm. I don't know why anybody would want an invite to that shitty site

Waffles is better for older stuff and has more but it-leaked is superior when it comes to actual leaks. I'd love a what.cd account but it's impossible to find an invite.

Anyway I'll second the motion to search in google "band cd mediafire" or whatever.

I went on the other day and I think it said that you can use it but you have to be a premium member. Not worth it for me to pay a fee to download music for free then go out and buy the full album.

There's a reason for that:

You're completely responsible for the people you invite. If your invitees are caught cheating or trading/selling invites, not only will they be banned, so will you. Be careful who you invite. Invites are a precious commodity.

I'm sitting on 12 invites but I only hand them out to people I know in real life. I remember inviting a random board user during the OiNk days and lost my invite privileges because he was cheating the tracker. Never again.

I do the same thing. I honestly do go out and buy the music unless a band has already "made it". i.e. Gorillaz.

I didnt know how i was going to like the new album, I downloaded it, think its alright, not gunna go buy it. I figure that they have enough money/success/fame already so they reallllllly aren't gunna be hurting by not getting 10 dollars that they wouldn't have got in the first place.

yeah getting into a private tracker is something to look into to, but as pointed out Google searching does the job good as well

Seriously, it bugs me how so many people apparently don't get that this is easier than torrents and all that other nonsense.

Searching the artist name and the words "album blogspot" will pretty much take you a variety of blogs where you can download what you will. You can get more specific and add in an album title between the artist name and "album blogspot." No need for invites. And many blogs are linked to each other, so if one shuts down you have another to go to. It's easy and the quality is generally good. Just be aware of what you are doing and where you are going.

a couple people said it. go to google, and copy/paste this:

site:mediafire.com "(band name/album name)"

and you can change mediafire.com to megaupload, rapidshare, whatever you want. and yes dude

So sick of this, I'm willing to bet you don't buy everything you like. Please stop this excuse.

and yes, we do. i did it for four year strong. leaked it, LOVED it, and bought it. and i'd be willing to buy it again. sorry if you don't have the mindset and willingness to do that, but some people do. so yeah, i'll bet you. a lot of money.
