Anyone else on AP participate in this? My team has gone to two regionals this year, the first we were on the 7th seed alliance, and due to some bad luck, we just barely lost to the 2nd seed.
Everyone who participates is incredibly friendly and you learn a lot about just about everything. Not to mention the great inside jokes and quotes you get.

i participated in this program my freshman year of hs. we went to the st. louis regional and placed 17th initialy, but got lucky and were chosen to join the 2 seed alliance, and ultimately won the regional which sent us to the nationals in houston, where we wound up in 35th due to our bot literally turning itself off in our first round.
have you met dean, and/or signed his coat? he used to wear a lab coat around and have the different kids sign it. hes a super super nice guy.
whats your team number, and what regional do you guys usually go to?

I'm the head of scouting, so if you saw someone yelling at people sitting lazily in the stands and/or running up and down the steps, it was probably me hahahahaha.

I did this in high school in '03 and '04. Team 1038. During the '04 season my alliance at nationals (we were the captain) ranked 3rd. We won several awards at regionals both years.

For those interested in watching the world championships, NASA's streaming it here: http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/
Personally, being the nerd I am, I find it incredibly entertaining, even when my team isn't up. The way it works is there are four fields/divisions, each of which is structured like a regional competition. Then, the winning allianeces(each alliance=three teams, thats how the game, based off soccer, works) of thsoe go on to the championship which is a simple tournament. The finals are Saturday. Sadly, FIRST has yet to release the schedule for the qualifying matches online.
