i HATE:
NCAA: USC - god. they are such douchebags. i live in LA, and i just can't stand their fans. some of the most obnoxious in the world.
NCAA: Florida - Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer.
NCAA: Ohio State - Michigan fan. and i hate Jim Tressel (and Woody Hayes)
NCAA: Notre Dame - Michigan fan. also, i despise jimmy clausen (although i really liked Tyrone Willingham... shouldn't have 'upgraded' to charlie weiss... how'd that work out?)
MLB: the New York Yankees - based off the principle that nobody should like the yankees. (i'm also a phillies fan)
NBA: the San Antonio Spurs - i hate tim duncan. seriously. and robert horry.
NHL : the New Jersey Devils - go flyers. i hate the devils so hard.
EPL: Chelsea/Arsenal - i'm a manchester united fan. i HATE the blues. less so the gunners, cause at least i respect them.
NFL: the Dallas Cowboys - I HATE THE COWBOYS.
i hate a lot of teams. what about everyone else?

How is it not ironic? He creates a thread to hate on teams. Teams that are good at their respective sport. As if people give a damn.
I read his post as if it was out of frustration like...ARGHHH I HATE THE COWBOYSSSS!

Lol @ hating Tebow and Meyer. How are they hate-able? I go to UF and I've always wanted to know the reasons behind people hating on Tebow, other than the fact that he's a fucking winner.
I hate the Yankees. Just because. They have too much money, it's not fair, and they don't even win enough with all that cash.

Oh, is that what he does? I always thought he was just an exceptionally involved Christian who used HIS CELEBRITY to sell HIS RELIGION. You've got it backwards. And it's not surprising, because everyone expects the worst out of successful people. From everything I've heard and seen on the Internet and on campus, this guy really does have a heart of gold. i wasn't insinuating that i hate them due to their budget - i was simply stating that they have an unnecessary amount of money... and business savvy? big pockets doesn't necessarily mean business smarts. obviously for the yankees, they've have brains behind their money because they have success. i dont care about their budget. yes, every other team in major league baseball cannot buy the players like the yankees can, but to have the yankees in an 8 year drought with all those good players just means there are other good teams who don't need to buy out.
and as for my "indiscriminately" hating them - i hated paul o'neill more than any baseball player. i hate mariano rivera... dude give up 42 (which by the way, why hasn't MLB just taken it from him?). i have nothing against jeter. defensively a little overrated but otherwise a great ball player. don't like CC. dont like the steinbrenners. i dont like new york yankee fans (and yes, i totally understand why philly fans are obnoxious too. they are). i dont think thats indiscriminate hating, but thats my opinion. feel free to disagree.

42 was grandfathered in -- any player who wore it before it was universally retired gets to keep it. I don't think that's too hard to figure out. It's like when the NHL grandfathered in helmets. Should the NHL forced Craig MacTavish to wear a helmet when he'd spent his entire career not wearing one? No. You introduce something like that and gradually implement it in.

Well it would be a shame to not cover one of the best players in the history of the sport when he's right here before our very eyes...but yes, I do agree he was talked about a little too much. and really, do you think that the baseball playoff system is bad? i'm sorry i just can't agree with you on that at all. you want bad playoff systems? look at the BCS. even look at march madness (though the NCAA tournament is so much more fun the way it is now). the playoff system in baseball is fine the way it is. the better team will MOST LIKELY come out on top (with the exception of the rays from the AL two years ago, and i'm sure you can pick out other teams). but frankly, the team worthy of winning the division series will win. as will the better team in the championship series. the yankees were, without a doubt, the best team in baseball last year. i'm not arguing that point... i just simply don't like them. i'm very level headed about this... i'm not even sure why you're arguing with me everything.

The vikings need a quarterback to replace favre when he retires. Sage Rosenfells is not the answer and either is Tebow. but if they drafted Tebow to be a wildcat type player with Percy, ALL DAY, and Sidney Rice then i would watch that all day. Thats the only thing i think Tebow will do in the NFL unless they move him to tight end or full back maybe an h-back

I think you're wrong and I think this is a very conformed opinion. People think he's good for the Wildcat because of all the rushing he does, but he's not. He's not nearly quick enough to turn the corner in the NFL, his rushing yards are gained because of his close-space quickness, and because the amount of strength he has is absurd. A normal stiff arm from Tebow is much, much more than most runners. I think with two-three years of backing up Favre and learning the system and just becoming better at throwing the ball, he can be their answer. Just needs the time.

Derek Jeter's one of the best yankees of all time and he was grown through the minors. Jaba, Pettite, Posada, Mariano (arguably the greatest closer to play the game). These players are all great yankees and have multiple rings with the exception of Jaba. And they all came from the farm system. These are the players that are on the team now not past or retired yanks that also have rings and were brought up through the farm syaytem. They buy a lot of players but they also have a great farm system too

Just comparing how introducing rules regarding attire get grandfathered in, not Jack Robinson to wearing helmets. You're awfully dense if you can't understand that.
I'm sure the Robinson family is not losing sleep that one of the classiest baseball players in the game today is wearing Jackie's number. C'mon. It's a number. No, I don't think he should have to change his number.
Yes, I think the baseball playoff system is that bad considering you take 162 games, decide who gets into the playoffs based on geography and then use that huge sample size of nearly 5000 games a year in the majors and reduce it to 3 series of baseball where teams built with depth aren't always rewarded at all.
And no, the better team will not most likely come out on top. The percentages are that they will, but they don't always fall that way. You're thinking way to simple-minded about it.

you're a champ for insulting my intelligence so much. you win, i concede. you're clearly smarter... but one final rebuttal for the road:
No. i'm not dense. the way you COMPARED the examples of Jackie Robinson's number and helmets in hockey led me to believe that you were comparing the two... interesting how i came to that conclusion. sue me for that.
And yes, i obviously was so upset because the Robinson family is still fuming and taking it so personally that Rivera is wearing 42 still. No. never did i mention anything about anyone 'losing sleep'. I just think that on of the 'classiest' baseball players in the game today would have that speck of 'class' to give up his number for one of the most important baseball players. i'm glad you disagree with me on that one though.
You know statistics, and you know what a sample size is. congrats, i too stat in high school too. the BEST teams in each division are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs... and then the NEXT BEST team in each respective league is given that shot too. so you're telling me that the 8 best teams in baseball don't get a fair shot to win the title? hmm.... (also, i'm not sure why the 5000 game stat is relevant to reducing it to 3 series' for the playoffs...)
And thank you for agreeing with me. i did say that sure, you can name a few teams who didn't deserve to come out on top. So i guess we're both simple minded.

You think Favre's gonna be around for another 2-3 years? I also do not think Favre is into helping or grooming his backups. Rogers never said he got much help from the guy.
It depends. He might be, you never know with this guy. I think they'll win the Super Bowl this year then he'll ditch, though. He doesn't have to be taught by Favre, he just has to learn from him. Just watching.

i wasn't insinuating that i hate them due to their budget - i was simply stating that they have an unnecessary amount of money... and business savvy? big pockets doesn't necessarily mean business smarts. obviously for the yankees, they've have brains behind their money because they have success. i dont care about their budget. yes, every other team in major league baseball cannot buy the players like the yankees can, but to have the yankees in an 8 year drought with all those good players just means there are other good teams who don't need to buy out.
and as for my "indiscriminately" hating them - i hated paul o'neill more than any baseball player. i hate mariano rivera... dude give up 42 (which by the way, why hasn't MLB just taken it from him?). i have nothing against jeter. defensively a little overrated but otherwise a great ball player. don't like CC. dont like the steinbrenners. i dont like new york yankee fans (and yes, i totally understand why philly fans are obnoxious too. they are). i dont think thats indiscriminate hating, but thats my opinion. feel free to disagree.
There are plenty of teams owners that can afford the players the Yankees sign during free agency. Just because the Steinbrenners choose to reinvest their money into the team and not throw it all into their own pockets like other owners in the MLB

you're a champ for insulting my intelligence so much. you win, i concede. you're clearly smarter... but one final rebuttal for the road:
No. i'm not dense. the way you COMPARED the examples of Jackie Robinson's number and helmets in hockey led me to believe that you were comparing the two... interesting how i came to that conclusion. sue me for that.
So i guess we're both simple minded.
next time you plan on being an ass hole, don't try to play me off like i'm stupid. i have the capacity to argue, and i sure as hell have the right to state my opinion just like you. the difference is simply that you decided it'd be a fun game to be an ass. i didn't. congrats, you won a meaningless argument. i'm sure mom is proud of you.
Best teams in each division does not equal the best teams in each division. Boston, New York, and Tampa all deserved to be in the postseason but Tampa is punished by geographical location despite the fact that Detroit and Minnesota were mediocre at best. So they aren't the best 8 teams in the playoffs at all. And the 5000 games number is important because you're taking an enormous sample to decide who these "best 8 teams are" and then allowing mediocre teams to get in ahead of some of these teams and play in a short series which at best are 60/40 odds for the No. 1 team in the majors (and that's statistical fact -- teams aren't overwhelming favorites when the series gets shorter and shorter).
Nah, I didn't decide it'd be a fun game to be an ass. Just stating my opinions on things. you decided it'd be a fun game to take things some kid on the internet to heart and get hurt by it.
As for undeserving champs: I'll take the Cardinals and the Marlins off the top of my head as teams that weren't the best teams in the majors that year. When you include teams like the Rockies and the Astros WS appearances and couple them with an 87-74 NYY squad that won it all in 2000 and there's a few teams without even looking that hard that won and/or finished second in the postseason.

what you really meant was that you just hate them indiscriminately and without any good reasons.
I find 'hating' sports teams to be ridiculously stupid in and of itself anyways. Doing it because one team is business-savvy and knows how to be a cash cow (like starting things such as the YES Network), is even worse.

haha you are no legitimate reasons why you hate anything except Chelsea/Arsenal.
Anyway, i hate the Yankees, but not for the reason you think everyone should hate them. They're a monopoly, or attempt to be one. Whenever a team has an outstanding player, the following season, they're almost certainly to be on the Yankees.
Prime recent example, Johnny Damon goes from Red Sox to Yankees after world series win. I'm just annoyed how they're trying to constantly make an All-Star team for the regular season.
I hate the Raiders, Dodgers, Angels, and Lakers For the following reasons.
Raiders/Dodgers/Lakers - People jump on the bandwagon for the sole reason they're from southern california. The same goes for other teams around the country but people here in southern california arent the same when it comes to sports like say the Red Sox fans, Cubs fans, Bears fans, or Eagles fans.
Angels - They are located in Anaheim, which is in Orange County. Calling them Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim has to be the dumbest sports name in history.

I don't hate Tebow as a person, I hate that he's made out to be a saint or more than human without flaws, and he's only human like you and I. Plus, I really just don't think he's that great of a QB, but I do think he's a good athlete though. I don't think he'll go very far in the NFL.
I also hate the Yankees for the same reason. They buy their championships. I also agree that they should be winning more with all the money that the franchise contains. One of my favorite moments of watching baseball was the 2003 World Series between the Yankees and the Marlins. I loved how the underdog took down the titan. Just great for sports, you know?

Your response is directed at me, maybe not entirely towards me but i'll say something.
The Yankees use their money to buy OTHER TEAMS best players, for the most part. Their team has such a heavy rotation of players in and out for just a couple season stints. Its a known fact that they're the wealthiest team in baseball, and they use that to their advantage. Im not saying thats a bad thing, to have money, but its annoying that once someone has a great year, its almost certain they will end up on the damn Yankees!.

Alright, no...I am annoyed due to the fact that the Yankees will ultimately win a bidding war between any other team for a given player. There is no point for an open draft because if the Yankees want them, they will get them, then recycle them back to other teams within a couple years.
I know they get free agents, but the roster for the Yankees changes SO MUCH more than other teams.

The NBA has a soft cap not a hard cap, so the idea of "buying" a championship isn't as ridiculous as you make it seem.
Here are the payrolls for this year:

Say what you will (it's not the Yankees) teams can certainly "buy" players in a soft capped league.

My God I hate Notre Dame. They have so many advantages with their TV contracts and resources. They're too good to join a conference, yet they haven't been relevant in about a decade and haven't won a bowl game in 8-9ish tries.
Additionally, they steal money from other teams with their...odd...agreements. Case in point: BCS games pay out millions of dollars for both teams, and those teams share that revenue with their conferences. Last I checked, ND has a built-in agreement with the BCS in which, if are ranked 8 or higher, they're GUARANTEED a BCS game. Quite a few teams who are deserving of a BCS game got passed over for a lesser ranked Notre Dame team just because of their contractual agreements and because they're fucking Notre Dame. Also, teams have to share some of their revenue with whatever conference they're in, but since ND is too elitist to join a conference, they keep all of that cash for themselves. A lot of good it's done them lately, but it's still not good practice.

So hey, sorry if this has been covered in the baseball thread but what do you think of the division realignment talks (http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/03/15/the-great-baseball-realignment-opus/)? The floating realignment sounds interesting, but I think you lose a lot of rivalry between divisional teams. Expanding to four divisions makes a little more sense, but doesn't really solve the problem. I don't think MLB will do anything in the next couple of years.

MLB: Boston, New York, and Philly, for having the most obnoxious fans.
The Rays have fans?

NFL: Patriots.. I'm a Jets fan
NHL: Rangers and Devils because I'm an Islanders fan and because my bitchy ex gf was a Devils fan so I love to see them lose
MLB: the Mets bc I live in New York and I'm unbiased (Angels fan) and it drives me crazy when Mets fans try and argue that they're better than the Yankees.
NBA and NCAA I don't really watch so I can't say.

The thing I hate about the Rays is that they're not the Devil Rays anymore and they traded in those sick green jerseys for the shitty purple/blue combo. Whatever, I refuse to call them the Rays.
