Damn you for posting this already. I was thinking of the title to post this too! Clarett runs again, but this time from cops . owell the man is dumb. Honestly, why would someone try to run from the cops. Has a bullet proof vest on, 4 loaded guns. I am an OSU fan, I use to like him but I hope he rots in jail.

He has to be lacking common sense. Just not born with it. I never thought someone would be this dumb. Even though he did bring the national championship to OSU, maybe just maybe we can change the moto "once a buckeye, always a buckey" to "once a buckeye, always a buckeye(besides that dumbass Clarett) "

he grew up in austintown, which is where i live. but come time for high school football, his mom 'got offered a job' in warren, like 10 minutes from here and a bigger school with a better team. wasn't an amazing job, but yet they somehow managed to provide her and the family housing within the warren school district. so all that shit was obviously shady.

and one of my good friends actually teaches at the school he went to and had him in classes a few times. long story short, he almost lost his job for giving clarett the english grade he deserved. instead, the grade got changed. he's got more stories than i do, but he hated that fuck too.

that goes on with basically all top rated high school football players. We had Kelly Baraka who was the 3rd rated RB in the nation back in 2001 and he had a 1.9 GPA but graduated with a 2.8 and got into the University of Michigan.

but then he got dismissed for getting caught here with pot before he graduated and then his dad blamed it on the "forces of the city of Portage" that corrupted his good kid.

an ironic sidenote, goodell was saying in his introductory press conference that one of the first changes he wants to make is to legalize bulletproof vests on the field.

he said it's one of many steps to getting the nfl to his 'ideal' type of football. he compared his 'ideal' type of football to the opening scene of the last boyscout, minus the gambling sub plot.

Yeah we do. Portage Northern, where i went to high school, i think leads the state in Softball State Titles and, possibly, in runner up finishes/final four appearances, etc. And when I was a freshman Ms. Softball for Michigan went to my school, Ashley Smith. She just gratuated from South Carolina and is playing in some Pro Softball League I saw on ESPN 2 a week or so ago. She was also all state singles tennis player and an all conference basketball player, i believe.

Plus, the Softball World Series, the softball version of the LLWS, is held like, less than 2 miles from my house.

i played free safety.

but had i played that season there was a lot of pressure for me to challenge for starting qb. but the main reason i went to ysu over the bigger schools that recruited me was that tressel assured me i'd be there primarily for defense. none of the other schools were interested in me playing defense, and i didn't really want to play qb anymore.

but the qb was so bad that he brought it up more than once that he'd like me to try out for the job, but was mostly leaving it up to me.

i played qb all four years in high school, and i never really enjoyed offense all that much. plus i ran the option out of the wishbone for three of those years, so there's no telling how i'd have adapted to a different offense.

and i was young and cocky. so my thinking was that if i could play four solid years of defense i could try to nag a spot at the combine and go from there.

yeah, i remember tim lester back in the day. dude was damn good.

yeah. running the wishbone seems like it'd suck. You think you would've enjoyed it more if it was a more balanced/pass heavy high school offense?

We used to be pretty balanced when i was a freshman because we had Kelly Baraka, the kid that was like #3 in the nation at RB and after he graduated we went to a full time Shotgun offense.

and in 1999, running primarily out of the shotgun, we had a 3000 passer, 1000 yard reciever, and 1000 running back. nuts. fucking chad pennington. i will never, ever like him.

nah, probably not. the coach gave me a lot more pass freedom than you'd usually have in the wishbone. a lot of triple option plays turned into quadruple options if i felt there'd be a hole in the defense for a pass. so i still had my fair share of throws. and then the new coach my senior year opened it way up to basically 4 receiver sets at all times.

i just always loved defense. i never wanted to play offense at all, and avoided it all the way up until my freshman year when our varsity qb got hurt and there really wasn't a backup, so i got nominated.

whether that's good or bad is up to personal opinion.

Edit: nevermind, on Sportscenter they just said someone said he was close to a person's house that was going to testify against him in his robbery case.

i honestly think he expected to die last night.

he made a bunch of calls thanking people for nice things they've done for him. almost like he was making amends for shit.

and if you see him in the footage in the back of the police car, he doesn't look like somebody that just got maced and resisted arrest. he almost looks relieved to an extent.

i hate the fucker, but i'd never wish suicidal gunfight on anybody.

yeah, i just edited my post because on sportscenter they said he was close to a person's house that was going to be testifying against him in this robbery case.

And Tom Friend, who writes for ESPN the Mag said Clarett called him last evening out of the blue and was very humble and said he just had a daughter and then went on a big rant of how he cries when he holds his daughter and how he's got a court case still pending, etc etc. He also basicaly implied he thinks clarett is an alcoholic.

The arrest will not affect Clarett's status with the team, Terry said.

"We gave him a chance and now we'll wait to see what happens," he said. "I've seen far worse situations than this."

I laughed at reading the transition of talking about high school football. I enjoy talking about how bad my school was at football. I never played football because i played baseball year round but yeah. we were basically a running team that had attempted to pass every now and then and the ball would just end up in the other teams hands. We were a D2/D3 depending on the year we lost to a D5 school. At the half time it was 48-0. Our marching band would outshine our football team. Have to love good old Genoa. yuck

I remember listening to Claretts current coach saying how he is still part of the team. and how he wants to get Steve Bellasauri for the team now (big mistake) and then something was mentioned where the announcers were asking who was to blame for the situation and someone said it wasnt his fault. wtf

he signed on to the mahoning valley (youngstown) hitmen. it's a minor league arena league. the owner of the team is so shady too, i'm doubting they'll ever even play a game.

but the dipshit coach came out and said this is all the nfl's fault, then said the hitmen and the league they play in will 'stand behind maurice clarett.'

sadly though, dude's going to prison, so they're gonna have to wait in line.

haha...since the story has twisted, that name gets funnier..

i really feel bad for this guy
I feel bad for him in the "he's still sympathetic cause he was a great player" kind of way...not in the, it's somebody else's fault way. We love tearing down people after making them huge...but, what we love even more than that is to feel sorry for them in it's aftermath. That's pretty much the cycle. Build up -> Tear Down -> Feel Bad - > Give Chance -> Repeat

He didn't make the NFL...and it's his fault he tried to defy the rules. He didn't get back into OSU...and it's his fault he broke the rules. He didn't make it in the NFL, despite given the chance somehow, and it's his fault he couldn't make the weight for it...

So, this is pretty much all his fault...and now it's spiraling downhill for him...more so than before.

Mike Decourcy nailed it in his column...and I'll link it, but, the key line to me is right here:

"Football is a hard game. It exacts a stiff price. Those who are willing to pay that price are rewarded, but nothing is handed to them. Which is as it should be..."

http://www.sportingnews.com/experts/mike-decourcy/blog/index.html

I mean...a man with taht many weapons, who drank that much, who fought that hard to evade cops...has issues. They are HIS issues, and the NFL and OSU may have forced them to the surface a little bit, but, a 16 game NFL season for 15 years would have done far worse I imagine

no. hundreds of thousands of dollars and possibly more is the LAST thing he needs.

I think had he gotten to the NFL it would've just made his problems worse with the excess of cash that would flow around and the amount of shady people that would flock to him.

Then again, it sounds like he doesn't feel any self worth at all anymore and maybe "making it" in his sport would've fulfilled that. and he could've turned himself, personally, around.

I doubt it.

thing about that is though, money and fame can be a bad combination. but i actually think fame without the money is worse, and that's what he's got. were he making millions, maybe he wouldn't be in a position to feel the need to carry loaded guns and wear a bulletproof vest.

there was no saving him. the broncos apparently went out of their way trying to make him feel like he fit in. they supposedly had veterans bending over backwards trying to befriend him so that he knew he had people around him, but instead he turned his back on all of it.

and i do feel bad for his daughter. that's the only sad thing out of all of this. but, she's young enough to not realize how big of a fucking waste of flesh her father is, so it could be worse. she's still got a great chance of coming out normal.

he should feel a lack of self worth. and prison is probably the best place for him right now. just too bad for him it took him 22 years to realize what most people knew years ago.

What happens when a highly touted college football phenom decides to shit away his career by going on random crime sprees? Career options are limited when you are forcefully restrained after a car chase in which four loaded weapons and a bottle of vodka were found in your SUV.

Four motherfucking loaded weapons!

You know you are one crazy son of a bitch when you have more guns on you than hands to hold them. Maybe Clarett was on his way to pick up O.J., Alonzo Spellman, and Rae Carruth to go and wreck some shit.

It is an obvious fact that Maurice will probably be spending some time behind bars after this latest incident. So, what is his next logical move for some quick cash before sentencing?

A hip-hop album, of course.

Here are some track previews from Mo Clarett’s debut album… “Entering the Draft as a Junior Might Not Have Been a Bad Idea.”

Track 7: Gonna Get My Grey Goose On

Mo dropped some science on us with this gangsta anthem. The title comes from a direct quote that Maurice used in the midst of his strength conditioning work-outs with the Denver Broncos. I did not make this following story up. Known for his excellent career choices, Maurice decided that an NFL try-out was the perfect time to proclaim a need for a shot of top-shelf vodka. When the Broncos strength coach inexplicably jumped on his case about Mo’s unquenchable thirst for hard liquor, Maurice demanded that the Broncos make a choice. Either trade him or fire the strength coach. This was, at the very least, an odd demand, being that Clarett had not yet signed a contract with the Broncos. Between behavior like this, and the fact that a semi-retarded eight-year-old edged him out in the forty, the Broncos felt he wasn’t a great fit. They cut him soon after. Slow, alcoholic running backs with criminal records and mental problems usually work better in a different offensive scheme.

Track 11: Fuck Spike Strips

This jam takes an in-depth look at “the man’s” persecution of Maurice. If you take a step back and look at his recent arrest from a different perspective, a new scenario will unravel. Look past the fact that he was carrying a barrage of loaded weapons, that one of the weapons was an assault rifle, that he was wearing a bullet-proof vest, that he had a half bottle of Gray Goose in his SUV, that he eluded cops on a four-mile chase that ended when spike-strips busted his wheels, that he violently resisted arrest and required being pepper-sprayed, and the fact that he was already facing robbery charges. Look past all of that garbage, and what do we have? We have a man in the wrong place at the wrong time. People act like they haven’t made 38 consecutive massively horrible life decisions in a row. Damn you, Johnny Law. Fuck you and your spike strips.

Track 15: Remember that Time When I Stripped the Ball Back Away from Sean Taylor After He Intercepted a Pass Near the Endzone in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl?

Maurice kicks it old school with a gleaming memory from his glory days. The blazing bass line makes up for a lack of lyrical content in this remarkable ballad. The song consists of Maurice repeating the title over and over, occasionally throwing in a “Remember that shit?” or “It was awesome, wasn’t it?” Sure, Maurice would probably just use an assault rifle to bring down opposing players these days. You don’t need to be fast when you carry four loaded weapons and drink your face off. You still had to love it when Maurice took things away from people the old fashioned way.
