This shit is getting crazier and crazier every day.

What baffles me is that people are freaking out about it. The system worked exactly how it was designed to: it stopped the plot. Now we are banning liquids from carry ons? What the fuck? So I have to put me expensive toiletries in my luggage, that will undoubtedly be mishandled by the airlines? This panic bullshit needs to stop.

absolutely right. i'm with ya.

i'd much rather have my toiletries close to me and run the risk of getting blown to pieces on the way there than to feel a bit safer and have to worry about what the luggage handlers are doing to my precious toiletries.

your more likely to die on your way to the airport in a car crash anyways.

ill take my chances.

US should run their airlines exactly like Israel does.

How does Israel do it?

here's an article shortly after sept. 11th about israels airlines

link (http://archives.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/meast/09/26/rec.el.al.security/)

it might be unrealistic considering the amount of travelers we have (i assume we have an enourmous amount more), but if it is possible we should

if we had guns in the cockpit none of the 9-11 events would have occured..

they're banning liquids from carry-ons because they tried to put bombs in them. i'm interested to see how this plays out. it's not panicing, it's security. it's a minor inconvenience for everyone but it's worth it.

Let's take early predections with what happens...it will last about a week and nothing will happen and it will all die down, everything back to normal and everyone is happy!

we have a lot more people, we have in two days what El Al have in a year, but it would be worth doing for security. Of course it would also make ticket prices go way up, and the airline industry wouldn't be able to handle that.

How is this gonna stop them from bombing planes? Just put a bomb in your main luggage with a timer and the plane has no chance.

ya but they screen your main luggage with crazy x rays.

I thought your main luggage just went straight into the hold and they only checked your hand luggage.

cause you're probably the first person that's ever thought of that.

bombing a plane isn't easy. if it were, it'd happen a lot more.

and i honestly hope you don't think they don't check all the luggage. that's just silly.

I just came home from London yesterday in the heart of all this. My plane was delayed 6 hours and a person was arrested on my plane sitting in the seat right in front of me. They were caught depositing random items in key parts of the plane and then broke out saying how they didn't want to be on the plane any longer because something was going to happen to this plane. (I was on a London to NY flight.) So they were escored off the plane and met with machine guns.

As far as security goes, it was the most hectic plane ride I've ever taken. I was patted down at 5 security checkpoints, 2 background searches were ran on me, and i had to go through 3 sets of metal detectors. My luggage was checked 3 times and they let you know they were checking luggage. Then upon arriving in New York, luggage was checked yet again along with passport information at customs.

Yesterday was intense.

After my track record with planes this summer, it figures I would get on the plane that someone would try to bomb.

I love the reactionary banning of substances from planes.

Soon enough I won't be able to read Skymall while I fly.

i don't get why it's such a big deal they're banning substances on the plane? why are people bitching so much about it?

It's more about the concept of doing little to nothing proactive and then waiting for an incident to occur, then being reactionary and banning the device used. Let's be one step ahead of things for once, I'm confident we can actually do it, so let's save ourselves the trouble and some lives and stop sitting around waiting for shit to happen.

Just give everyone on the plane a gun with one bullet. Problem solved.

08/12/06, 07:28 AM
if we had guns in the cockpit none of the 9-11 events would have occured..

what happens if the bullet misses and goes through an air compartment or something?

that is why guns are not on planes unless they use those rubber bullet things. We could use some jacked body guards that celebrities have though or some navy seals or something.

it's so funny what they are and aren't allowing.

they won't allow anything that is a liquid container...yet you can bring pens onto the plane.

just fucking put your explosive liquid inside the pens.

sooner or later we'll have body suits to wear and all your belongings will follow in a smaller plane

the more they publicize foiled plots, the more scared I get. Like, if its such a big deal that it didn't happen, does that mean it ALMOST happened?
