Allister (http://www.absolutepunk.net/allister) has signed to Universal Japan and will be releasing a brand new album in 2010. American release is set for summertime
whose stoked!?!?
this is their quote on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/allister)"New Album coming in summer of 2010!!!!!!!"
Tim went to my high-school and lives in the neighborhood next to me! im so stoked for a new allister record. the get go & the collapsed never really did it for me.
it's been 5 years since before the blackout dropped, i wonder what their new next record will sound like..
I've been sitting here for hours, burned an image of you in my mind!

I used to listen to Last Stop Suburbia every day on the bus on my way to school, and on the ride back. Just really solid pop-punk. Ahhh, the Drive-Thru glory days!
I start runnin,I start runnin away, when I get too close I'm scared to stay!
Love these so much.

I have a feeling this is going to be a return-to-form album - Last Stop Suburbia styles. At least I hope.

haha, you know it. riding baller in my 1996 buick skylark custom with no rear view mirror, no working windows, no working ac, and a rickety tranny. glad i upgraded a couple years ago, and bought myself a nice car. the way i just described my old one (which was all true btw) made it sound absolutely fucking terrible especially in hot ass florida. a picture to help you...

I discovered Allister on a Drive Thru Records sampler. "Scratch" still my favorite song by them. So good. Nothing else really compares in my eyes, although Last Stop Suburbia is good on the whole.

It's absolutely a right of passage to have a P.O.S. as your first vehicle. I don't have much respect for those rich kids rolling with their brand new BMW's.
I rolled for 3 years in a 98 Chevy S10 with no ventilation, no AC, also in the hot FL sun. Yikes. Like I said, it was a right of passage, because when I purchased my new car last year, I appreciated the AC a heck of a lot more than if it were just given to me.

Jesus man, my dad had the same exact truck for like 8 years. The door latch to the little seat in the back broke, the driver side door never held shut completely and would fall about three inches every time he opened it. It was an absolute horsepile. My new car for fun:

Now it seems I've fallen victim to the same disease that's
eaten up the world
Our generation's gonna fall apart if we continue to be
pushed around
So now it's time to make a change
We gotta lock down and rearrange
And reject the fundamentals of society
The time has come to live my life
I'm gonna break out and do what I like
And I don't care what you say or think about me
Yeah, yeah
Now it seems we've fallen victim to hypocrisy and
Bureaucratic lies
They got us brainwashed
So we don't stand up and fight for what we think is right
So now it's time to make a change
We gotta lock down and rearrange
And reject the fundamentals of society
The time has come to live my life
I'm gonna break out and do what I like
And I don't care what you say or think about me
Yeah, yeah
Cause it's easy when you're free
Yeah it's easy when you're free
Yeah it's easy when you're free
Yeah it's easy when you're free
Yeah it's easy when you're free
It's easy when you're free
It's easy when you're free
Yeah it's easy when you're free
It's easy when you're free

The Get Go rules. I've been into them since they put up their demos on Myspace years ago. It's a shame they never really did anything at all in America except for a few local shows. The 2 albums they released in Japan are great and perfectly blur the line between older, classic pop-punk and the new super-glossy poppy stuff that everyone loves now. They have a lot of potential to be big if they actually hit the road and did the damn thing.
As far as the new stuff, I never realized how unfitting of a singer the dude from Showoff was until I heard Scott's re-recordings of the 2nd album's tracks. The guy from Showoff was very a personality-driven singer and it fit what he did to a degree, but Scott sounds way more like a professional and absolutely kills it on the re-recordings. I'd love to see them really tour and get these songs out to people. Or at least make it out to NY so I can see them.
The last time Allister played here, my scene's largest local band was having a CD release at a different venue, and for some reason the promoter didn't think to either book them on a different day or to throw them on the bigger bill, like anyone would. Allister played to like 12 people. They will probably never come back to Long Island.

yeah they really need to get their shit together! bill from dimmn recently quit and they had to drop off our fest we had last weekend, i was bummed but yeah scotts a way better singer than chris, hell chris doesn't even live in chicago anymore, he moved to knoxville! but yah they gave japan so much love, we did get more than a couple local shows but its been awhile, the last time the get go played here was last winter..
