These guys are SICK...

I don't care which CD I listen to - it's classic. Guitars are some of the best I've heard, Claudio's vocals and unique as hell, and they are telling a huge story throughout all of these CDs. Real cool.

I've got a few questions...

1.) When is Claudio's side project coming out with a CD?

2.) When is Coheed going back into the Studio?

hey,
- claudio's been telling people the prize fighter inferno (claudio's side project) is to be released on halloween!
- they're going to start working on a new CD this fall (volume II of good apollo)
they're seriously the best band in the world.

I really enjoy coheed and cambria. I don't care what people say about Claudio's voice, I love it. I don't really understand the whole story (haven't read the comics) but it is still quite good.

I remember playing IKSOSE:3 for a friend of mine. She said that she had a relative who worked for sony and he had given her that cd awhile back. she basically told me that they sucked and she gave the cd away. A couple months later Good Apollo came out and they were on mtv and the radio. Who sucks now?

:D Please don't tell me you measure a band's talent based on their television appearances and sales... That's definitely not the way to go.

Of, course... I think I know you a little better than THAT. Even though I don't really know you...

Prize Fighter is actually an amazing side project... Claudio shouldn't be that talented! He's going to have two very successful bands... Let's hope it doesn't tear apart Coheed... As Coheed is more important.

Volume II... Not sure where they are gonna go with that... From what I got from the story, I thought it ended there and they were going to do the first part of the story. Who knows... As far as the story goes, I think their first CD was the best part of it.

gffmglf yeah.
i have the first comic on a file, i can send it to anyone who's just like curious. the second one i lost, but it was only four bucks, and i still need to get good apollo.
and his side project is http://www.myspace.com/welcometothebloodmachine
it's not only something completely different music wise, but it's also him telling the coheed & cambria story from jesse's perspective (coheed's brother) so you can get information out of it too.
they all have side projects, except the bass player, mic todd.

I've loved this band forever, but I do have to say (and I'm not usually the one to care about this kind of thing) "Good Apollo..." was INSANELY produced. Claudio's voice is put through so many processors it's nuts. I seriously don't think he sang hardly any of the harmonies on the new album, just based on listening to how his melody and harmony lines match up ridiculously perfect. I mean, sure, with a major deal comes more and more help from outside the band, and don't get me wrong I do really like the album, its just strange to listen to sometimes for me.

yeah, i really understand. it's so weird to me how big they're getting. i saw the ten speed video in decent quality. it was suchhhhh a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. i wanted like 10-speed the character (flaming demonic bicycle for those who aren'ts farmiliar with the story) to be in it, but it's just alot of nonsense.
they just kind of have something for everyone, that's probably why they have soo many fucking fans.

08/14/06, 02:04 PM
I have that problem with the record, too... But I don't mind it all that much. I mean - it IS Coheed.

His side project is a conceptual version of Simon and Garfunkel, pretty much... Borrowing what Claudio was trying to accomplish with "Always and Never" and "Wake Up".

if you have limewire you should really check out the final cut from live at the avalon.
IT'S INCREDIBLEEEEE.
it has a like seven minute guitar solo. it's amazingggg. i cried the first time i heard it.

you really can't understand it with that either...looking the crap up on the interweb is the best thing...

I always hated when people said that. It's ok to not like a record by a band you really like.
Not saying that's what you mean, but when people say that it just sounds like they are saying "It wasn't good, but I have to like it because it says Coheed and Cambria on the front"

I really like Coheed, and I don't really like Good Apollo at all, I think it sounds like a rehashed In Keeping Secrets.

What I'm saying is that it wasn't up to Coheed's calibur. I think they are going to be an epic band one day - just look at "The Crowing", "Keeping Secrets...", and even "Welcome Home". EPIC. The album just seemed like Coheed was confined by their record label... Because, you know, Coheed would've wanted to do more 7 minute songs...

sick. I cant lie I pass the slow songs up. First time I heard Welcome Home when the EP leaked i had a :O look on my face, cant understand how people could be down on Good Apollo. I know alot of people like Second Stage best, (sticking to the "i dont like anything mainstream" crap) but In Keeping Secrets is an almost flawless record, and their best release

Anyone who wants to know anything about the Coheed story should go here:
Coheed and Cambria are dead (http://www.cobaltandcalcium.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=12)

It is a very comprehensive detail of the story, from SSTB to GA:I.

I'm much more interested to know the musical direction Coheed will take rather than where the story is going. From my understanding of Good Apollo, it is relating to Claudio getting revenge on Newo. More than likely that is incorrect but the story should stem from there

I think they are only going to get better from here on out... I did like In Keeping Secrets more than I did Apollo, but I thought Apollo had a lot of musicianship that In Keeping Secrets lacked. Coheed'll shoot through the roof. Watch. :-)

I've been a Coheed fan since a few months aftter Second Stage Turbine Blade was released and for years they have been one of my favorite bands but ever since Good Apollo, they have been different. I'm not a person that automatically hates a band that goes on MTV however to me Coheed is an example of the bad things that can come from the success they have achieved. Mainly I blame Claudio for his iron fist hold on the spotlight of the band.

Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets are still 2 of the greatest CD's of all time

Murder*O*Murder
08/22/06, 05:35 AM
I haven't noticed a difference in the way Coheed has acted since Second Stage... Sure, they are getting noticed and need to build an image, but they aren't compromising their creativity or the effort they put into their music. Perhaps their image is changing, but that is necessary, you know? I'm not concerned with bands getting on MTV these days... Their days are numbered since MTV is following the trend that everyone else is - find a new band every month and play the hell outta them and then let them drop... Done deal.

DanonaciD
08/22/06, 07:30 AM
yea my complaint is more to how Claudio is exorcising iron fist control over every aspect of the band more now then ever and I think the band has become overproduced musically, live, and in their music video's

Murder*O*Murder
08/22/06, 08:39 AM

Coheed and Cambria are very good in my opinion. It is refreshing to be able to say that they are actually an original band out there making amazing music. I hope they continue to produce those flawless cd`s they are known for. They have a lot of talent and they are finally getting recognized.

If you've come across this on myspace, then please disregard!

In case you don't know, Coheed and Cambria are releasing their second live DVD. It's entitled, Coheed and Cambria: The Last Supper. Although many may jump to the conclusion that the title symbolizes the end of the line-up we've always known, this is untrue. Rumors have been running rampant in communities about Mic and Josh either leaving or being kicked out of the band. Claudio had this to say. "I've heard the rumors, and we've had some bumpy moments this year, but I think we're all right. We overcame whatever our problems were, and there was just a breakdown. But I think it's alright now." [1 (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1542051/20060929/story.jhtml)]. The DVD was filmed, for the most part, on May 20th, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. It was the final date of the co-headlining tour with Avenged Sevenfold (thus, The Last Supper). There will not be an audio cd featuring the concert accompanying the DVD (like Starland had), however, the DVD features exclusive behind the scenes footage and the videos for "Ten Speed" and "Welcome Home." The release date is October 31, 2006.
1. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
2. Ten Speed (Of God's Blood & Burial)
3. Blood Red Summer
4. The Crowing
5. Wake Up
6. Delirium Trigger
7. A Favor House Atlantic
8. The Suffering
9. Everything Evil
10. Welcome Home
11. The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut
On the very same day as the DVD release, Claudio's debut solo album is also set to release. The Prize Fighter Inferno (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofi le&friendid=37305643), is an Electronica/Folk project he's been working on for several years. He does not intend to tour with this project, being as he's a one man band.

Also, writing and recording for Good Apollo: I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 2 has begun. On September 21, 2006 Claudio performed a brand spankin' new song at his acoustic show in Lancaster, PA. A rough recording can be found here (http://rapidshare.de/files/34049478/Fetch_Your_Gun.mp3). For more information on the song, please visit Cobalt and Calcium (http://www.cobaltandcalcium.com).

In other news, Travis is featured in a Counterfeit Disaster (http://www.myspace.com/CounterfeitDisaster) song. He plays the lead guitar part, lapsteel guitar (like in "Once Upon Your Dead Body") and a wicked solo.

I hope this helped clear up some confusion. Have a safe and Happy Halloween, everyone!

My favorite band of all time. so amazing. Seen them 3 times in NY, once here in Philly. best live band i've ever seen as well.

Good Apollo was taking a step back from the story, really. It was actually about the writer of the story, and how hes writing people off and stuff.

But I have to agree that Good Apollo was sort of a dissapointment. I dont like the path that it looked like they were taking it, but hell. IKSSE:3 is by far the best album yet. Second Stage is second.

But if anyone could tell me, since I havent had the time lately to check up on Cobalt, if theres any cobalters out there, please tell me what happened with Josh and Mic? A couple months ago I cried when I found out they might be leaving the band. I'm really counting on them coming back.

GOOD APOLLO is their best and most polished album. It's a modern classic. Every track flows so well..and there are so many infectious melodies on it. There is really no way I'd ever have become a fan of Coheed if GOOD APOLLO wasn't as good as it was. It's PROG..and it rules. And it doesn't have really any of the unecessary screamo vocals that are on the others.

definately my favorite band. everything from the music to the story is amazing.
unfortunately i have yet to see them live, but their new dvd..live ast the hammerstein ballroom comes out on the 31st so i cant wait to get that.
i have the scond comic and they grafic novel (good apollo comic) but i cant sem to find a place to get the first one for a decent price..its out of print so most places do not have them and all the ones ive seen on ebay are way overpriced. i have a a pretty good dieda of the story, not that confusing if you read alot of the stuff on their websites forums, and the lyrics do realy help.
the next album was said to be a prequel but maybe they are going in a different direction. i dont know.
now im just rambling so il leave it at that.
