some of my favorite bands are Pepper, State Radio, Authority Zero, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid. Ya know, bands that are, I guess "reggae-punk." Not sure if this belongs in this forum, but shit I dont know what anything is classified these days. What are some other bands along these lines I'd like?

I just checked out Bedouin(how do you pronounce this?) Soundclash and they arent bad

It's pronounced "Bedwin"

And if you're into reggae/punk, check out the Pilfers. Absolutely amazing.

The type of music that you are describing is third wave ska.

they're fucking awesome. a bunch of great dudes, too. My old band got to play with them when they were in jersey a few times, and they were just awesome, friendly people.

if you want some good reggae/punk, check out some of the later Clash stuff, and some of the later Bad Brains

You should just listen to The Specials and Madness and The (English) Beat.

alot of the bands you guys are mentioning are full out brass section ska bands, Im not lookin for that.

also, im not lookin for old stuff, not the Clash, Madness, Bad Brains, etc.

Appreciate the help, but are there no bands that have maybe broken into the scene in the 2000s and have a State Radio style?

listen to bad brains. an all black hardcore band, its not ska, they just do alot of punk songs. and alot of reggae, they never collide though.

Possibly :

Choking Victim
Big D and the Kids Table
Mad Caddies
Katchafire (not really punk.. but if you like Slightly Stoopid's slower songs then they might be for you)
The Aggrolites (the definition of reggae-punk :-p)

This band is really good it is reggae/punk rock mostly reggae id say 70/30. Im sure you have you heard of him but Matisyahu :mod-dis-yahoo
Listen to like/ king without a crown/youth/jerusalem. I like them 3 the most.

Good luck, with finding some reggae/punk rock. If you have any luck feel free to email the bands im into more like matisyahu and sublime so something of that nature would be great.

Check out Ill Scarlett. They got famous because some rich dude thought they sounded like Sublime and invited them to play at his party.

Reggae-punk is totally a different sound than 3rd wave, I love both, but I have to be in completely different moods to listen to them. Just sayin'.

I joined against my better judgement of the site logo/motto and the three horribly un-punk bands on the banner at the top of the page to add my two cents to this ?3? year old thread.
I couldn't believe no one mentioned THE SLACKERS. IMO the best reggea/punk band ever. Their song 'Watch This' is something I would consider completely punk/reggae.
Jimmy Cliff I wouldn't consider punk, but I know more punks that listen to him than the slackers or sublime so he's worth mentioning
also
Choking Victim
Big D and the Kids Table
Mad Caddies
Katchafire (not really punk.. but if you like Slightly Stoopid's slower songs then they might be for you)
The Aggrolites (the definition of reggae-punk :-p)

I can't stand the mad caddies but Leftover Crack CAN be a little more reggea than Chocking Victim,... the shows I've been to have all been about smoking crack and pot and drinking and having a good time, I forget how to spell the lead singers name STZAZ?, but he passed me a well filled bong when I saw them at 'the pound' in S.F. and then they covered a couple SPECIALS songs and even a really fast "No woman, no cry." Best show I've ever been to, despite being head-locked later on by a security guard who thought I was throwing punches in the circle pit.

itunes has close to nada from this genre btw
