so im considering going to school and am really looking at majoring in criminal psychology and was curious if anyone around here has done psych or criminal psych? if so, what advice can you give?
im thinking about doing a few classes thru a juco first, the prereqs and basic courses, just to keep the cost down.

During your time as a major (either psych or criminal psych), figure out what type of jobs you can attain and if that is where you see yourself/want to be. It would suck to spend years busting your ass in school only to land a job that blows/you do not want.

I'm a psych major, but in my area (more like country actually) we don't have specifically a criminal psych major. I'm not sure about undergraduate programs overseas but graduate definitely, although the applications are usually for law and research. Being a psych major in itself is hard to get a job, but you can delve into many fields although you'll have a lot more competitors in those fields. I'd recommend not taking a very specific major for your Bachelor's, but as the poster above me said, figure out what you want to work at after you graduate BEFORE you decide on the major. If you think criminal psych will be more advantageous for that job, go for it, but if you're still unsure, don't.

My fiancee was a psych major in undergrad. It's tough to get a job in the field without a Master's.
