i told my gf (now ex) that i loved her. she said "i dont think im there yet"
that kind of thing happens. How long have you been dating? Its happened to me. Felt awkward and ultimately we broke up

hahah my girlfriend actually just linked me to this thread... what a sweetie. haha but yea i did the exact same thing. i dont regret because i did mean it, and she just wasnt comfortable saying it back yet. anyways she did say it to me not too long after and we've been saying it constantly ever since. just be patient brother. good luck.

it really wasnt uncomfortable, because like, i know she wants to take things slow, but i said it mostly just so she knows that when the time comes it's ok for her to say it..

Love? Who cares, most of the time it is just a word. All these kids run around telling boyfriends and girlfriends they love them then they break up and next thing you know they're barely speaking to each other. That's love?
Funny story... my dad told my mom he loved her like 6 months into them dating and she said "don't ever say that again until you're ready to marry me." And here we are 30 years later and they're still together.
Maybe she was onto something...

i had that happen. it was said to me unexpectedly and 'okay' was the first thing that popped into my head.
she didn't find it as funny as i did.

i've only said i love you to a gf once, and as much as i wanted to say it before it happened i still waited until she said it first.
all the other times i've told a girl i loved her i was waaaay high and trying to get laid. 8 times out of 10 it worked.

Someone has to say it first, so it doesn't matter and if they aren't ready to say that, then in time they will possibly say it.

i agree, she said "it's not that i dont, i'm just not ready, and dont worry about it at all, it's never a bad thing when someone tells you that they love you"
This has never happened to me 'cause I've never been in love.

My current girlfriend told me she loved me within two months of dating (we've been together a year now) and I kind of laughed at her and said "Wow...uh...I really like you a lot but..I know I'm not there yet and I don't want to lie and say it back.."
She looked kind of upset, but hey, we've never had a disagreement/arguement/fight so it's all good.
