Don't have time to write a review, but I just saw it, and this movie was, just...almost offensively bad. I really couldn't believe how overwrought and sentimental some of this movie was. If you want to see a brilliant, brutal, but perfect film about 9/11, see United 93. If you want to see a film about the day that uses every disaster/drama cliche to the max, see World Trade Center. 4/10

I just got back from it too. Personally, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Different strokes I guess

i don't ever intend on seeing it. not because i'm offended or anything, it just looks like a shitty movie.

did not like it. cage was terrible, and it was just one big cliche. like a hallmark movie. it had so much promise at the beginning. i was ready to like it, but nothing clicked. needlessly cheesy, especially the last two minutes.

i have absolutley NO desire to see this movie.

I keep hearing it's really schmaltzy and could have been a great movie (given the premise) but only comes out as ok. I dunno...I'm split on seeing it, but I could wait for the DVD.

i can't believe they actually made this movie. it's so ridiculous and offensive, not to mention a huge disrespect to the people who experienced that.

THANK you...the abundance of New York cliches is unbelievable too...I don't think EVERYONE in New York talks like that...do they?

I can understand not liking the movie because of the acting or its direction, but I cannot for the life of me see how it was disrespectful. When people have a legitimate complaint about a movie like this (like most of those in this thread) that doesn't bother me. But when people make blanket statements with nothing to back it up...it irritates me.

Amen. I still don't even know how it's offensive, it's designed to pay tribute. Watch United 93, you would likely find that far more offensive because they actually somewhat show the terrorists point of view! Gasp!

I know how it ends!

I think cashing in on this tragedy so soon is in pretty poor taste but its hollywood and they do not have a conscience so I guess it should be expected.

Well the thing I didn't like the most was that they took a story that could've been told in 20 minutes and stretched it out to 2 hours...I think if they did a bunch of stories, like from firemen's perspective and maybe people trapped in the tower at the same time, it would've been more interesting...and the scenes with Maria Bello and Maggie Gyllenhall are just unnecessary (although Maggie gives a great performance, per usual)

i was most interested in the stories of the former marine, and the paramedic. they could have really developed those characters a bit. i would have liked that.

I agree there actually...doing a split plot story probably would have made the movie more appealing to me. In general, movies with one plot focus and one or two characters the focus of it all are very hard to make last 2 hours and still make appealing throughout. Only exceptional acting (Tom Hanks in say Cast Away) or exceptional story ingenuity (something like Old Boy, or that line of movie) can carry it through. WTC doesn't lend itself to those forms, as it's supposed to be a much larger scale movie...thus, why they should do a story-scape with several stories connecting into one event at the end. Sure, it'd probably still be cliche as fuck, but, it'd probably be more compelling as a whole.

I'll wait til DVD...and if it's still getting press then (or god forbid OSCAR mentions), I'll rent it. I'm pretty sure they make a lot less when I rent it off Netflix, so, I'd rather support this notion less if possible

I thought it was a pretty good film, but definitely nothing Oscar worthy.

Nothing irked me more though than how they found out the second tower was hit. A fucking radio, are you serious?

I'm debating whether to see this, since I don't live in America and the obvious supposed effect of patriotism won't hit me as hard. It feels like they made this movie purely for the backlash and reception it would receive to me.

No, I thought it would be the same as he descibed it. A freaking emotionfest. I just dont feel the movie should have been put out so early and, that it probably wasent 100% done for the right reasons. That comment only reinforced the fact that i dont want to see it.

i dont get all the "its too early" crap

its been 5 years...how long do you have to wait? is there a set law that i missed?

IMO, its a good reminder of what happened, so people dont forget. it should be shown nightly to remind people of how things should be, with people helping each other

Just so you know, United 93 is still my #1 movie of the year and I DON'T think it's too soon.

Terrible, melodramatic and almost offensive adaptation of a fresh tragedy. Greengrass portrayed the events in such a beautiful and respectful way, but this was just... fuck no.
